Why hello there, folks.

As some of you long-time ex-Corona people may remember, I've got a long and checkered history of trolling on the IMDb messageboards. Remember back in the day, the fun we had? Some of you do. For those that don't, a brief explanation:

The IMDb is a useful site, to be sure. But the messageboards are a swamp of stupidity. I've had a messageboard account there for a few years, but rather than try to be part of the solution, I decided long ago to be part of the problem. Which brings us to my latest "project."

I've chosen a list of approximately 25 movies (actually a few more), gone to the board for each movie, and asked the same question on each board. The question is as follows:

Title of thread: Is this based on a true story?
First post: My friend says this movie is actually based on a true story, but it actually happened back in the 1970s. Is he right?

I've used some variation of words in some posts, but the question always contains the same core elements: My friend, true story, happened in the 1970s. I've chosen a list of movies with 2 main criteria: each movie has a comparatively high traffic board, and the movie is one in which the question is completely ridiculous.

The movies chosen are these:

The Wedding Crashers (2005)
Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins (2008)
Drillbit Taylor (2008)
Meet the Spartans (2008)
Meet the Browns (2008)
Horton Hears a Who! (2008)
Vantage Point (2008)
The Darjeeling Limited (2007)
30 Days of Night (2007)
Who's Your Caddy? (2007)
Schindler's List (1993)
Fight Club (1999)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Step Up 2 the Streets (2008)
The Matrix (1999)
Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007)
Penelope (2006)
Beowulf (2007)
Doomsday (2008)
10,000 B.C. (2008)
College Road Trip (2008)
"Doctor Who" (2005) (yeah, I know-- it's a TV show. So sue me)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Hancock (2008)
Jumper (2008)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)

You'll need an IMDb messageboard account to read these topics, but if you ask me, it's worth the trouble of signing up for one. Some of these topics are fucking hilarious, if I do say so myself.

This is a link to my profile, which contains links to each topic:

Got a few minutes to kill this afternoon? Check it out. Or don't. I don't care. I'm so stupid that I think Schindler's List happened in the 1970s. So I'm easily entertained.

:Mwahaha:

I do my gosh-honest best to be a do-gooder guy in general, but the imdB message boards are amongst the bottom feeders of internet society. In other words: Easy pickin's and fair game!

WELL Done Slamster. :Mwahaha:

One of my sock puppets there for a day or so, years ago.... "Thindy Bwady".

I typed with a speech impediment...multiple ones, in fact. A lisp and everything "R" with a "W". I kept asking dirty ol' fuckers if they'd be my fwiend, and if they'd like to hold my doll Kitty Carry-all. :p

That lasted about a day. :ohwell:

I love you, Slammy.

Did you ever find out the truth behind Christopher Lambert's early porn career?

Slammy, did you happen to drop that question, "Is this based on a true story?" on one of the StarWars movies? If so I did reply to you. And Bill, I agree with you. Most of them on the IMDB boards are bottom feeders. You all should check out the Super hero movies. There have been arguements over the same subject over 4 years, such as who would beat who in a one on one fight Spiderman or Batman. Or Superman or Batman. Those can be quite funny.

That was the most fun I had all weekend. I really enjoyed reading your profile. That's what made it for me.

Keep up the good work!

My favorite is Schindler's List, Lord of the Rings, and 2001.

I heard this happened in the 70's. Muwwahhahahah

Come to think of it, somebody (didn't make note of who) asked the same question in Star Wars.
