Ok as some of you may of heard, there's this video game coming out next week and I am sort of interested in playing it.
I don't have a nextgen console. I need to get one. I am going to get an XBOX360 Elite. That comes with the 120gb drive etc etc.
I haven't had to worry about this for 10 years or so, so help me out. Anything else I need? I plan on getting a 50ft ethernet cable to run from my router to my tv. I don't feel like messing with a wireless adapter.
Anywhere to buy it? Since I have less than a week, I was planning on going to a Gamestop or Best Buy. Is there any real price difference, or does Micro$oft usually charge the same all around?
Do you have to setup your Xbox Live account to actually play games on the console, or only worry about that if you're going to go online?

The game systems are all price controlled, but you can occasionally find bundle deals with extra controllers/games.
You'll also want to, at some point, subscribe to Xbox Live Gold. I think Silver's free, but I dunno fer sure.
I'm now looking at getting a new system sometime this year, as MK v. DC is koming. I'm leaning towards a PS3 as it has the built-in Blu-Ray support. However, the wife wouldn't mind a Wii "for the kids."

Prices are generally standard everywhere, although like Jakester says you can find various bundles with extra games and controllers. Jr. bought his at Best Buy. Sometimes you can find controllers or games on sale, but not often, and usually not the latest big games. The benefit of going to Gamestop is if you have old games you want to trade, at least you can get some store credit.
XBox Live Silver comes standard. If you want to play online with others, though, you need XBox Live Gold. Neg Jr. has the wireless router, since his game room is upstairs and the computer is downstairs, but if you're not playing online I'm not sure why you need that right away.
If all you're going to do is play with yourself (tee hee hee), you don't need anything but the game, the console & controller, the TV, and the cables to hook them up. Wireless router, headset, and XBox Live can wait until you want to play online against other players.

What they said..lol.
I will warn you though, DO NOT GET THE ARCADE version of the 360, it is a big waste of money.
Also, if you do not like to go through a lot of batteries for the controller, you can go two ways. You could either get a wired controller or just get a Play and Charge Kit which has a battery on the back which can be recharged through a wire coming from your 360.

Alrighty, I've joined the 21st century. I stopped at the BB and 700 dollars later, I've got a black Elite system, and play-and-charge kit, Halo 3, Dead Rising, and the Orange Box.
I've created a gamer's tag on Xbox Live, under the name lukerosati, so if any of you want to friend me, go for it.
Right now I am just Silver, but I will probably upgrade to Gold once I finish some of these games and want to go online. I know some of the Excelsior guys get together for Halo 3.
Now I just have to wait 48hrs and get GTA4. :o

All of those are great games, too. Good choices, especially with The Orange Box which is probably me favorite game for 360...for right now, anyways.
Yeah, my gamertag is my name here, Gentlemen Death. Hit me up sometime.

*sigh*
When I created a thread about everyone swapping gamer tags you all give it the big custard pie! :(
