Apparently, its getting a lot of good reviews from critics, which makes some industry insiders think that its not going to be a hit with the audiences... but everything my friends have said makes me believe that a helluva lot of people are going to go see it on opening weekend.

What do you think?

Well, Iron Man is one of my favorite characters, and I know he's a favorite of other people's as well (Civil War doucheness and possible Skrulliness notwithstanding). I think it'll be a smash, I know I'll be there opening night (as in Thursday early showings!).

well i remember how we all thought (at least i thought) that Robocop was going to suck ass, a policeman in a suit of armor...yeah, i thought, yeah right. sucks.

Heres a popular and colorful Marvel comics character with depth, Unlike The Punisher, hopfully Jon Favereau wont screw it up.

i think that superhero directors realized that packing too much into a film makes the formula too unstable... (see spiderman III, Batman and Robin)

it looks good... really well done and faithful to the comics... I couldnt imagine fans staying away in droves. besides, who are these "Industry Insiders" anyway?

If I remember correctly, Spider-Man 2 had great reviews and was one of the most successful comic book movies to date. So I can't say I'm worried.

Edit: Scratch that...both Spider-Man 1 and 2 had at least 90% on RT and made like $400 million each. X2 had 87% on RT and made over $200 million. On top of that, all the buzz on Iron Man around the net, that I've seen, is extremely positive.

I think people will go see it because of the critics, actually, but I also think there are people like me who just can't wait.. A lot of my friends saw it last night and LOVED it.. I plan on going tonight.

Interesting... I hadn't thought of those!
