Did anyone know that Joshua Zetumer, the screenwriter doing on-set polish work for QOS is a mere 27 years of age? Not only that, he's never had a screenplay produced but apparently wrote a spec script that so impressed Eon and Forster they gave him the job. I wondered about this until I remembered that Eon has hired young writers before - I think Tom Mankiewicz was only 28 or 29 when he got the job on Diamonds are Forever.

Zetumer may not end up with any onscreen credit, but one could hardly call it a shabby first gig!

(By the way, Eon lurkers, I'm 32 and will work for less money!) :)

Nice work though. I thought Eon had the same policy as most movie studios which is not to even look at spec scripts to avoid complicated and expensive future legal problems.

I don't believe it was a Bond spec - it was a completely unrelated screenplay called "Villain" that got him noticed and got him an agent, who then began shopping it around. This isn't the case of a hopeful fanboy who got lucky.

You're right, Eon probably gets Bond specs from fans all the time and tosses them without even looking.

Damn, and there I was about to immediately start work on "A Whisper of Hate" with guns, and 'sposions, and bikinis, and fast cars, and speedboat chases, and space shuttles / space-based lasers, and some kind of hollowed out HQ, and an ex-KGB girl called Ivanta Bonkalot, and somebody with a physical deformity that they kill people with, and... and.... and....

If you're really talented, it shows up young. I mean, not always, and there's a lot of craft in writing as well as art, but the blazingly good are that good in their 20s, they really are.
