The pictures beaming into Canada are quite fierce looking. I hope you and your families are safe. N

:ohwell:

yeah, I talked to a few midwest friends today too. One of the had a neighbor's tramapoline blow up on their roof and it slid off, barely missing his truck. :ohwell:

But considering, that's what some would call a quality problem.

There was some damage on Thurday night about 20 miles from here. We also had tornado watches last night in our area, but didn't get anything more than rain and a little wind.

It's been a scary spring so far.

Early Sunday morning, at about 4:50AM, I woke up to the sound of
raindrops and fierce wind beating relentlessly on the side of our house.
Sounding an awful lot like a train going by, I put on the TV to a local
channel, and sure enough, a meteorologist (shouldn't they be out
studying meteors instead? Sheesh.) described a "circular rotation" all
mapped out in blood red hovering right over my subdivision. Great.

My wife and I hurried our kids to the inner-most closet, I left the TV
blaring to hear how things progressed, and waited. About 3 minutes
later, the violent weather died down outside, and confirmed it had gone
East after passing over our house like the angel of death.

In another minute, I then learned that the rotation wasn't strong enough
to become a full blown funnel, and as I peeked outside the neighborhood,
all was still standing and intact, save for some blown over garbage cans
and branches.
We then dragged our confused herd of children back to their respective
beds, and we to our own, but of course, I couldn't go back to sleep
after all that. So, I drove to Kroger, slalom-ming around fallen tree
branches, bought flowers & chocolates, a few steaks and a carton
of eggs, all to prepare for Mother's Day (which was fun in it's own right).

After 4 hours sleep, I'm still recovering, but thank GOD all are safe....
though there are more storms heading our way later this week. Wonderful. :ohwell:

Oh, and btw, what other direction is a rotation supposed to move in?
Perpendicular? Good gravy on a ferry boat. What idiocy.
