Came across this nugget, and thought I'd blow the dust off
this place (cough-cough). For those precious few still interested
in this show, read on...

24 Clocks Back In November 23 with "Prequel"

Oh yeah — 24! Fox has set a Nov. 23 air date for the two-hour movie that will bridge the gap between Days 6 and 7. Filmed partially on location in South Africa, the "prequel" finds Jack Bauer battling an international crisis (yea!), while back home, the United States prepares to inaugurate a new president.

"We're excited about the prequel because it explores Jack's complex emotional state of mind and still has all the signature excitement and suspense that fans have come to expect from 24," says executive producer Howard Gordon. "Shooting in South Africa affirms everyone’s commitment to making this season especially memorable for our fans."

The plan for Day 7, which was first detailed many months and one long strike ago, seems rather intact, with all of the new or returning cast members still on board. That includes (spoiler alert) Carlos Bernard (as Tony Almeida), Cherry Jones (President Allison Taylor), Colm Feore (First Gentleman Henry Taylor), John Billingsley (security specialist Michael Latham) and "FBI agents" Janeane Garofalo, Annie Wersching, Jeffrey Nordling and Rhys Coiro. Chloe and Bill are still around, too, though CTU isn't.

Some more news.... me likey!
I don't care for how the writer, um, writes the article,
but the news is still cool.

Exclusive: Full Monty Star Joins 24 Prequel Pic!

Check your watches Ausholes, 'cause I'm pretty sure it's time for some 24 scoop!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Scottish thesp Robert Carlyle (The Full Monty) has been cast in Fox's upcoming 24 prequel movie as Benton, Jack's mentor in Africa.

As Fox announced this morning, the two-hour telepic, shot on location in South Africa, will air on Nov. 23 and bridge the gap between Day 6 and Day 7. Carlyle's role is not expected to spill over into the drama's seventh season, but, well, this being 24, nothing's set in stone.

Fun piece of casting, no? (I was going to say cheeky, but I thought better of it.)

And finally, a word from Keifer to help stoke the fires....

Kiefer: You Can Count On 24's "Best Season Yet"

Not that 24 fans needed to be made more excited/impatient for the long-delayed Season 7, Kiefer Sutherland at Fox's upfront presentation promised truly super-Bauered times ahead — and in a way, you have the WGA-AMPTP feud to thank for it. "After so many postponements, I can assure you that none of us at 24 took for granted the significance of this upcoming season," the series star-producer said. "But the time allowed us to do something that has never been done before — create a map of the entire season before we started shooting. So I can tell you without hesitation, I know for a fact, that Season 7 is going to be the best season yet."

What's more, Sutherland — who leaves for South Africa in a few weeks to begin filming the two-hour 24 movie airing Nov. 23 — says the real-time "prequel" to Day 7 will be a good time as well. "[Writer-executive producer] Howard Gordon is most proud of this [script] of anything he's done," Sutherland shared. "I can't tell you how excited we are to make it."

NOVEMBER?!? Man...I guess that's better than January, but still...

I find myself not really missing 24 at all. That's not really a good sign. This season really needs to deliver solid storytelling with a minimum of contrivances designed to extend the arc (like spousal amnesia, or the mountain lion).

Hopefully they've had enough time to hash those things out for the entire season this time around.

I hope so. Even with the obvious padding, I loved S1 as it was so daring and different. I also really liked S2. Can the new season bring back Kim Bauer in lingere? I'd tune in for sure, then.

I loved the first season as well. Season Five was also phenomenal. In fact, I think that every season of 24 (with the exception of Day 6) has been a blast to watch, minus the mountain lion subplots of course.

Last season started off with a nicely literal bang, but after that it just stumbled around for the whole season, never finding its feet.

Oh, but the mountain lion scene instantaneously became the most memorable moment in 24 history. Even though the mountain lion was only shown approaching right before a commercial and then left as soon as the commercial was over. Is that any stupider than Kim getting stuck in a trap to begin with? Or her boyfriend setting fire to the cop car to cause a diversion so they could get away? Or stealing her boss's car after kidnapping his daughter? I'd say out of all the stupid stuff Kim got into in season 2, the mountain lion was the best part.

Sure, the mountain lion was the best part....but only because you hoped it would eat her.

I think the only thing that I really liked about Kim in S2 was the phone conversation with her dad when he was flying the bomb out of the city. It was a very emotional scene, and very well done.

If I had played the mountain lion, I would've eaten her, but not like it said in the script.

Love him or hate him, here's the next baddie for the new 24 season:

Jon Voight Cast as 24's Even Bigger Baddie

Jon Voight by Jamie McCarthy/ WireImage.comIt would appear that so-and-so, who to date has been touted as Jack Bauer's (and thus America's) next big nemesis, is merely doing someone else's bidding. Oscar winner Jon Voight has been cast on 24 as the person behind Season 7's terrorist threat, says the Reporter. Voight's character will be introduced during the two-hour prequel movie airing Nov. 23, and then be featured heavily during the back half of Jack's next bad day.

Here's hoping he'll be sneering his way through like he did in Anaconda. :D

(sidenote: my fave film with him is Runaway Train. He was an iron-skinned tough guy in that one)
