I've been re-watching series lately. I recently finished Buffy and Angel (I kept the timelines consistent as I watched 'cuz I'm a geek).

Anyway, I decided I'd revisit Lost's early days as I haven't re-watched any of the episodes, and also to see what sort of hints we get of things that are revealed later. F'er example, in Episode 13, I think we get a quick glimpse of Smokey when Boone and Shannon are in the woods. Admittedly, it ends up being a hallucination, and you just get a real quick glimpse of a bunch of flying debris, but it seems to me as though that was Smokey.

Anyway, I found myself still wondering about a few things:

1) Do we know why The Others took Claire? Was it simply because they wanted the baby in order to repopulate Othertown, or did they want Aaron because of some specific ability?

2) Why does Claire (in S4) no longer seem to care about the psychic's admonition that Aaron must NOT be raised by anyone other than herself? By the end of her S1 flashback episode, we're basically told that the psychic knowingly put her on the plane so that she'd end up on The Island. So...what's Aaron's role?

3) Did Walt "create" the polar bear that attacks him, or did he (more likely) summon it somehow since we now know that Dharma/The Others had polar bears on the island (and we ostensibly know why as well).

4) What did The Others want with Walt? And what part will he play in the upcoming two seasons of the show? It seems, early on, that he's pivotal.

two seasons? i thought four would be 16 eps and season five would also be 16 eps and that would be it? Are we getting a 6th season of LOST?

I see Walt as a dangling carrot, he's used to further the mystery of the island but we're never sure why.

I thought that Claire was kidnapped because whats-his-name thought she needed anti-toxin. remember Desmond ran away from the 1st hach into the jungle and all he took with him was the anti-toxin...then later he returned and it was never spoken of again.

Let's not forget - Ms. Klue intimated that Walt was NOT what they expected. She looked almost afraid, definitely disturbed, when she talked about him.

The deal struck by Bad Robot (or whoever is responsible for dealing with the business end) and ABC was for 3 more seasons (4, 5, and 6) at 16 episodes each. S4 was cut down to 13 by the writers' strike but, according to reports, it will be made up for by adding 3 more eps combined to the final two seasons.

1. It's my understanding that either
A: They needed Claire to do tests for the pregnancy issue or
B: Aaron was thought to be a vessel for Jacob

2. The answer probably lies within the conversation that Claire, Christian, and Locke had in Jacob's cabin.

3. I thought Walt summoned it because he had seen it in the comic book. I don't know if it's the same polar bear that was being kept in the cages at the Hydra? I seriously doubt it's the same polar bear that was found in the desert. That seems to be one from a previous donkey wheelie.

4 They may have thought that Walt was Jacob's vessel Yet they allowed him to leave in favor of Locke.

I guess my question is that is there going to be an addressing of Walt's growth spurt? Are they just going to concede that he was seen in shadows of his bedroom window in 2004 because they needed to create the illusion that he was still a kid and when he visits Hurley, it's now 4 years later and his natural growth coincides with the timeline of the flash forwards.

I believe your logic on Walt's age is correct. Kate said she'd been trying to forget the island for 3 years when Jack says they have to go back.

hmm... I thought it was two seasons. Even Jorge Garcia said the show would end around episode 100. (which is the tail end of next season) He also shot down the idea of any LOST Movies that plauge most popular shows after they end.... kinda like Star Trek.

I heard that next season would be the last, and that the writers striked "lost" LOST episodes would be made up next season.:ohwell:

we'll see how it all plays out.

Good theories - is it really necessary to spoiler bar them? It's not like we KNOW that's what's going to be revealed. But I think they both make sense.

Black smoke on the horizon....S1E23; it signals the coming of The Others...but why would Ben & Co. do that? seems pretty stupid.

S1E24 answered my question. Danielle did it. I'm a dork that I didn't remember that!

Yup. I personally thought that episode was pretty much a throwaway. Didn't give me any REAL insight into Jack's character. Knowing when and where he got his tattoo really wasn't that important to me.

Are you kidding me? Did the tattoos mysteriously disappear? I didn't notice that!
