This thread is for games you want to get. Old ones, upcoming ones, recent ones you haven't bought yet, whatever.
Mercenaries 2 comes out end of next month. Gamespot had a nice preview of it and given how much I loved the first one, I am highly anticipating this.
Star Wars:The Force Unleashed. Nuff said.

The Ghostbusters game that comes out this fall. That is the only game I care about now that has a release date.
Diablo 3. No planned release date yet, but I have been dying for this game for years, and Blizzard finally announced it's in development a week or two ago.

There's a bunch of upcoming stuff that I want to get. I'll never be able to get it all. Plus, I want to get a 360 at some point. That will only expand my games wishlist by about a billion.
I'm looking forward to Spore and Starcraft 2 just to mention a couple. I'm sure there will be a lot more games I add to my list after E3 next week.

I seem to recall that Duke Nuke'm 3-D had a follow-up called Duke Nuke'm Forever. Somehow I missed that when it came out years back, so I should try to hunt it down.

Silent Hill: Origins and Rock Band, I think.

Hey, maybe they'll have a new video for DN: Forever at E3!
I would actually love to see somebody make another 2D Duke Nukem game. I remember wasting a bunch of time playing the original two back in the day.

That reminds me, that's what I want. I want a new squad-based isometrical game, ala Jagged Alliance 2 or X-Com.
Recent attempts have sucked royally. UFO:Aftershock and UFO:Extraterrestials blew. Silent Storm was reasonably good, but didn't get alot of pub.

The grammarian in me is cheesed that you would use the word "library" to refer to a video game collection.
The geek in me is waiting for "Rock Band: The Who" so she can steal her son's XBox 360.

I have Rock Band and I can tell you that its awesome!! Right when I got the game I bought the Nine Inch Nails pack and love it!!!
As for games this year.....I would say:
Ghostbusters
Left for Dead
Gears of War2
Fallout 3
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Those are the big ones I am looking forward to. Out of all of them though, it has to go to Ghostbusters and Left for Dead.

From what I heard about the Duke game is that it just got screwed over. That game was supposed to come out years ago....I am sure at some point there will be another Duke Nukem but it does not seem like it will happen anytime soon...Which sucks!!

I also need to get Burnout:Paradise

Consider my wish list expanded by about a billion. I am now an XBox 360 owner.....even though I don't actually have it yet.
I just ordered it online from Best Buy (mostly to get a ton of points on my reward zone card), and I will go pick it up at the store tomorrow. I decided to finally bite the bullet now in order to take advantage of the temporary $50 price drop. I figure it will take me a little while to fill up 20GB, and thanks to the BB product replacement plan, I can probably it replaced with a better model if it ever breaks (since the 20GB version will soon disappear). Even if it doesn't, I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with it for a long while.
I also bought the VGA cable since I plan on hooking the 360 up to my widescreen computer monitor. I also got the stuff to hook the audio up to my computer speakers and a new surge protector as well.
Now all I have to do is figure out what game I can afford to get with it (maybe two if I can find them cheap). I'm not sure whether I want to get one of the bigger games I want and stick with that for a while, or if I want to get a couple of the cheaper games so I have more than one thing to play. All I know is that I'll probably be visiting GameStop after work tomorrow in addition to Best Buy.
I am interested in getting things like Bioshock, Mass Effect, The Orange Box (even though I have HL2 & HL2:Ep1 on PC), Burnout Paradise, Assassin's Creed, Lost Odssey, Eternal Sonata, and Beautiful Katamari (I like quirky stuff). I might consider Call of Duty 4, even though I don't normally go for war-type FPS games. I might eventually get Halo 3 since I like sci-fi shooters a bit better, but I think I'll hold off on it a while since I've played it a few times at a friend's house, and I'd rather buy something I haven't played right now. I like a lot of different types of games, but I am partial to adventures and RPGs.
Game purchase suggestions anyone?

If you like adventures/RPGs, then I can wholeheartedly recommend Mass Effect.
Strider
07-18-2008, 08:50 AM
Mass Effect is definitely one of the ones I'm leaning towards as I've heard tons of great things about it, and it should have a ton of content to last me a while.

Well, I didn't end up getting Mass Effect. I got The Orange Box, Burnout Paradise, and Arcade Unplugged vol 1 instead. Those will last me quite a while, especially the Orange Box. :D
Do we have a gamertag thread around here somewhere? I couldn't find one.

Mass Effect is one of the best games I have ever played! Last year was a great time for games, I mean you had Bioshock, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Orange Box and many more.
It seems you have the list pretty close, Strider. Stick with these titles and you should be fine....Oh, and GTA IV if you like that kind of gaming.

Just got my GameInformer magazine with the cover being the new WOLFENTSTIEN GAME!
Wolfentstein and Captain Keen were the FIRST games I can remember playing so I am stoked for another Wolfenstien game after Return......Now all I need is a reboot of Captain Keen.

Like I mentioned above, I am really looking forward to Spore. The creature creator is a ton of fun by itself, and the rest of the game looks just as addictive.

I am trying to decide between Fable 2 and Far Cry 2......
Strider
10-23-2008, 05:43 AM
Hmmm....it's kind of hard to compare those two games. They are completely different.
It looks like Far Cry 2 is getting some positive reviews, but they also say the game doesn't share anything in common with the first game. If you were expecting a direct sequel, it looks like Far Cry 2 isn't it. They also say that the game is a good shooter with some fun game mechanics.
Fable 2 has been getting some pretty good reviews so far as well. It certainly doesn't make your decision any easier.

Since I'm in here, maybe I should post about the new games I want outside of the "What are you playing" thread......
I am currently looking forward to Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia the most. I think the only thing that would keep me away would be horrid reviews. I am also interested in Banjo Kazooie and Fable 2.
I didn't really like the first Gears of War, so am completely disinterested in the Gears 2 juggernaut. Fallout 3 looks tempting, but not enough for me to get it right now. It will go onto the "Wait until it's cheaper" list. :D
omicron
10-23-2008, 07:21 AM
yeah I am leaning to FC2, since I loves me some shooters. :) But Fable is getting some great reviews, and everyone I've talked to who has it loves it. Just don't know if I'm ready to dive into another RPG. I still haven't finished Mass Effect.
Strider
10-23-2008, 10:08 AM
Trust me. Go finish Mass Effect. The last couple "levels" in the game are especially awesome. :D
Gentlemen Death
10-23-2008, 02:13 PM
Yes, go finish Mass Effect first before you begin to even THINK about starting another RPG. Especially one like Fable.
Mirror's Edge looks great but I am not sure if I will buy it right off the bat, I most likely will wait for reviews and here what my friends have to say on it.
Still though, out of GoW and Fallout3, the game that I am looking forward to the most is hands down, LEFT FOR DEAD. If you know nothing of this game, go check out trailers and read what the plot is. I am calling it right now...Possible game of the year award for Left For Dead!
Strider
10-23-2008, 02:33 PM
I'll definitely let you guys know what I think about Mirror's Edge if/when I get it next month. The thing that has me most intrigued is the ability to finish the game without using any guns.
Left 4 Dead does look awesome. Thought I probably won't get it until it gets cheaper.

This year: Fallout 3, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Gears of War 2. On my radar Prince of Persia & Left 4 Dead.
Next year: StreetFighter 4, Resident Evil 5 & Fight Night Round 4 and if it comes out next year God of War 3.
I also wanna finally see HOME from Sony.

Ohhh, just read reviews for Fallout 3 and Command and Conquer Red Alert 3.
Geez I haven't been overrun by this many games in a long time. :smirk:
Ah hell, I went to Amazon to see if the original Fallout (http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-Collection-Tactics-Post-Nuclear-PC/dp/B000IGE78M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1225221158&sr=1-1) was available. 20bucks, guess I got a new game to add to my library :)
