That was actually my favorite scene in Razor. When he said "By your command" I almost cried.

...and in rewatching the miniseries, when Six says "By your command" to the Eight, it now seems so out of place and tacked on because we know that Eights are not in command.

You have a much better memory than I do. Mind you, I was about 10 when the original was out and haven't seen them since.

i bought the pilot for the original series on DVD, plus i watched the entire series again when they reaired them in order (I think 2005 or 2006?) on some odd network like Spike or USA or Family Channel or something, they were having an old school cylon-a-thon every Sunday night at 7pm, and most two parters were aired from 7pm to 9pm, while the single eps were aired from 7pm to 8pm

of course it always helps to have a Cylon wav file of "BY YOUR COMMAND" on your computer too.

i just bought the two gold and silver old school Cylons from minimates too!!

To get back to the subject (sort of) does anyone know of a start date for Caprica? Jonesing for some good sci fi.

Sorry, mansion chick, but I don't. I think rumours are swirling for sometime before Christmas, but with Sci-Fi, who knows.

Current timetable for the latest BSG movie puts it after the series finale, so it could be held until 2020 or something.

I wouldn't put it past Sci-Fi to try and air one BSG episode a year for the next 10 years (or 13, if it's a 3-hour finale).

Then again, I porbably shouldn't give them any ideas.

Here's the latest:
IF Caprice gets picked up for a series, the pilot will be the series permiere and will air in 2009 after they finish BSG (so around Christmas?).
IF Caprica hasn't gone to series, the movie will air around Christmas of THIS YEAR.

I doubt that any of you have missed the fact that Caprica aired its first original episode Friday night, and I wanted to see what you all thought. I'll try to be vauge for those who missed it, but I don't know that I'll be able to write a few spoilers.

Personally, I was not all that impressed by "Rebirth." For starters, I didn't come out of it thinking I had learned anything significant I didn't already know from having seen the pilot. I think I felt that way because the story jumped between arcs so frequently that none of them ever developed to their full potential.

The most glaring instance is with Amanda Graystone's character. True, the audience already knows about Zoe's involvment in the bombing, but somehow I don't think it would have been boring to watch the character spend a little longer piecing it together and coming to terms with it. The actress seems capable enough to make the emotional journey interesting despite our prior awareness.

The best way to accomplish that would have been to cut the stuff with Wil and Sam. I don't know why, but watching those scenes just reminded me too much of the Jake and Nog scenes in Deep Space Nine, two of my least favorite characters from that series. Also, I watched this with the family, and my mother (who tore through the whole Battlestar DVD collection in less than a month) did not catch onto the fact that Sam is Wil's uncle. She might be a minority, but I doubt she's the only viewer confused. Could have probably lost the stuff with Sister Clarice and Lacy, too. Not because it was bad, but also because it would have worked better given more time in a later episode.

Another thing. How does Daniel have no clue as to why the prototype cylon is the only one that is displaying intelligence? Is he a frakking moron?

My last complaint is that Joseph is pretty much relegated to the sidelines. I didn't count, but I think he only has about four scenes, most of them short.

Now, onto the positive. I really liked the scenes with Zoe. Even though I was conscious of the fact that I had watched scenes like that in Battlestar (It's a tool, not a person-You have software, not feelings-etc.) I still enjoyed them a lot. True, I'm going to like pretty much all the scenes with Zoe because she and Lacy are smokin' hot, but it can't be the only reason since she was a robot most of the time.

All tolled, I was kind of dissappointed. I guess that since Battlestar was excellent from more or less the word go, I'm a little frustrated that I'm going to have to sit through a few weeks of this show finding itself before it gets really good. I will keep watching, though.

I'm enjoying this series much more than I anticipated I would. It's fascinating to watch Joseph Adama, especially since we were given a somewhat whitewashed version of his life on BSG. I think the casting is dead-on, although sometimes Zoe's voice is too whiny for me, and her earnest facial expressions border on melodramatic. Still, I will definitely continue watching.

Well, I just now got to sit down and check out 1.03 "The Reins of a Waterfall." Hoping to spark some discussion, I will post my thoughts here.

Vast improvement over last week. Still quite a bit of jumping around between the different plot threads, but the transitions didn't seem nearly as disconcerting this time around. All of the acting is a joy to watch, but I still think the best bits are with Zoe and Lacy.

Was that "Duck," the viper pilot from BSG, with the red hair and the bad mustache we saw in the back room? Obviously the PR woman is the same actor that played Kat, but I wasn't as certain with Duck. I only recall him seeing him in two episodes of Battlestar (Scar and Occupation).

My soul complaint would again have to be that the characters are having a tough time figuring things out. Zoe doesn't have at least a glimmer as to why there is another avatar camped out in her dad's virtual area? Well, I guess I could buy that, but it strikes me she would try a little bit harder to figure out what it was all about before showing it to the door. Maybe we'll get some more of that next week.

This episode was solid. Don't really have much more to add except that I hope some others will chime in with their perspectives.

What was the final line Adama said to Sam?

Something to the effect of "make it even."

Ah. Thank you! Muddled dialog, but it looked important.

Gotta say, this whole new personna of Joseph Adama is nothing like the father-figure Admiral Adama aluded to in "The Hand of God"

While interesting, I'm not sure I like it.

I'm guessing that we're going to see Joseph Adama go through a huge change. I mean, his wife and daughter both died in a tragic event. That's got to be enough to mess with anyone's head. I'm sure his character arc is not finished.

Food for thought. I bet all of us have been sitting here comfortably thinking there is no way Amanda's character will be killed off less than six weeks into the season. I know I was, but then I started to think about some of the things that went down in BSG. Six snapped a baby's next during the first act of the mini series. Jammer and Cally both went flying out the airlock, Gaeta got his leg blown off and Dualla put a bullet in her brain pan. Being a regular on a Ronald D. Moore and David Eick series is not necessarily job security. Those guys are nothing if not crazy mother frakkers, so I ask...how many of you think there's a chance Amanda might really bite it?

I dunno. It seems like Joe gets cold feet, but will he get word to Sam in time? As far as who can get killed off, Joe's pretty safe as we know Lee remembers him, but other than that, anyone is fair game.

I don't know what I found more satisfying - that Joe backed out, or that Sam KNEW Joe was going to back out. It was really funny, right as they started rolling the credits I said "Hey, Tamara wasn't in this one at all." And then they showed the coming attractions that was ALL Tamara!

This show is definitely hitting its stride and has me hooked. Last night's episode was excellent. More depth to the characters and a storyline which is engaging. Loved it!
