I'm re-watching the series, and I'm almost through S1.
When I started it, I was thinking about all of the people who have been killed off on the show, and how, with the exception of Charlie, I don't really miss anyone.
So, do you guys miss anyone?

Eko.
I miss looking at Maggie Grace.

Well, yeah, I like looking at Maggie Grace as well, but, for a change, I was being serious in that I really don't miss any of the characters that are gone. I was a bit bummed about Eko for a while, but he'd probably complicate the plot were he still alive, no?

I miss the poor little hobbit. That's about it really.
I'm sorta rewatching the series as well. Sorta. I finally bought seasons 1-3 when Amazon had a great deal, all 3 for 80 bucks I think. I'm currently on disc 3 of season 2. HOWEVER last week, I got my friend to lend me his X-Files as I had never watched that show before and really wanted to. So now I'm on disc 3 of season 2 of X-Files as well.
I also recently picked up season 2 of Supernatural and season 3 of Veronica Mars which I will have to watch at some point. Oh and Amazon's deal of the day today was the complete Stargate SG-1 set for $116. Yeah, less than $12 per season...I couldn't pass that one up. So I'm up to my ears in TV shows to watch. I hope to get through them all some time. Oh and I'm in the middle of seasons 3 of the Office and House as well. GUH.

Amazon had the Buffy Chosen collection (all episodes + Bonus disc in that sweet box) for $86. I snapped it up and it sold out in 3 minutes.
Enjoy the X-files!

I've kind of ground into a lethargy at season 4 disc 4 of the X-Files.
Anyway, regarding Lost, can't believe no-one misses Ethan as much as I do!

back to Lost (cant you guys ever stay focused?)
i'm going to miss Jin. Without Jin, it'll be hard to watch Sun since they have been an item for such a long time...
Jakester

Jin's not dead!
alaristhered
07-17-2008, 09:04 PM
Jin is dead. Jin is in itsy bitsy little Jin pieces. Don't forget, the actor had a DUI. That equals DEAD in Lost-world.
I miss Charlie, or rather, I miss his relationships with the other characters. Especially Hurley. On the plus side (no, I wasn't referring to Hurley's weight) when Charlie got killed it's when the friendship and respect between Sawyer and Hurley really blossomed, and I'm loving that.
Jakester
07-18-2008, 06:56 AM
I know DDK got a DUI, but I still think we'll find that Jin is alive (maybe not well, but he's alive).
I liked Charlie/Hurley (Churley?) and Charlie/Desmond (Chesmond?) but, like you, I'm also digging Sawyer/Hurley (Sawley?).
Bah...time for a meeting.

Jin may be dead, but we could still see him in flashbacks with Sun. Or she could reminisce about being with Jin ... on the beach ... with his shirt off ...
Ahem, what was the question?
Jakester
07-18-2008, 10:12 AM
I definitely get the girl love for Sawyer, and I can see it for Jin. I don't get Sayid.
There's lots of love for Hurley, but I never hear chicks swooning for him, sitting on the beach, all sweaty...with his shirt off.

Sayid is a big, beautiful man. What's to get? The producers of "Lost" have thoughtfully provided us with a Whitman sampler of male pulchritude. If one kind doesn't float your boat, there's others who probably do. Personally, I don't find Jack or Michael that appealing, although they're good-looking enough. Give me Jin, Sayid, or Sawyer any day. (And Eko when he was alive.)

What? No love for Bernard?!?!?! He snagged up Rose. That takes a real man!
Several Lost cast members have had traffic-related violations in Hawaii, where Lost is filmed.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr. Eko) on Sept. 2, 2006 was arrested for disobeying a police officer and driving without a license.
On Dec. 1, 2005, Michelle Rodriguez (Ana-Lucia) and Cynthia Watros (Libby) were arrested for suspicion of drunken driving.
Harold Perrineau Jr. (Michael) was cited for having no car insurance during a traffic stop.
Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) was arrested on October 25 2007 in the early morning for DUI.
In the past two years, the following actors have been cited for speeding:
Josh Holloway (Sawyer) - 53mph in 35mph zone
Dominic Monaghan (Charlie)
Naveen Andrews (Sayid) - Twice
Ian Somerhalder (Boone)
Christian Bowman (Steve)
Steve, Sawyer, and Sayid are the only ones still alive, so far. However, it should be noted that Sawyer did get a turn in the coffin as a red herring. Then, again....so did Desmond.

I do like the way that Charlie went out with some class. In the end, here he was, knowing he was going to drown, and his last thought was to warn Desmond and his friends about the boat. That's pretty amazing.

07-20-2008, 11:02 PM
Does anyone else think Desmond could be anything but the "good" guy he's been written to be thus far? We saw his many visions for Charlie except the last one and they all were of pinpoint accuracy. Yet, the incident that actually kills him differs signifcantly in some respects from the way Des spelled it out (like when the flashing light comes into play, etc.) and flat-out does not occur in the described way in certain cases, particularly when it comes to Charlie's soft spot in Claire and Aaron? Claire is never even on the helicopter.
I don't trust Des one bit.

Personally, I don't find ... Michael that appealing, ...
which piece of Michael?
alaristhered
07-22-2008, 09:05 PM
Michael's not my type. Jack's okay, but just a little too classically handsome for my taste. I call that look "Offensively good looking." You know, kind of cookie cutter, not a lot of character.
Jin is very, verrrryyyy easy on the eyes. I would not kick Sawyer off of my own personal deserted island, either. However, Sayid is super super super hot. It's not just his looks, which are quite nice, thank you very much. He's got this seething, burning intensity that...excuse me, I need to be alone for a while.
Oh, and say what you want about Hurley, but if I could have just ONE of the castaways at a party, it'd be him, hands down. The writers, and the actor, have done a damn good job of making him the most appealing character, IMHO.
Jakester
07-23-2008, 09:17 AM
Poor Hurley. All the girls like him, but none of the girls liiiike him.
I must be too straight to get the Sayid thing, I guess. All the girls lurrrrrve him.

My wife is always on the fence when it comes to whether she thinks Kate should be with Jack or Sawyer. She likes them both but they exhibit the classical dichotomy of good guy vs. bad boy. However, they can easily be interchangeable in recent times.
Personally, I couldn't choose because I just don't have a man crush on either one.

Hey, my husband resembles Hurley more than he resembles Sayid. And although I'm no Maggie Grace, I ain't nothin' to sneeze at, either. So there is hope for Hurley to get him some girl action. But, man, when they killed Libby, that broke my heart - poor Hurley!
Metuzalem
07-28-2008, 01:27 AM
See this proves how silly this show is. Hurley should be the most popular with the ladies (in the show).
Think about it, he's worth a gazillion dollars.
He should have supermodels hanging off him in every episode.

Everything sounded fantastic, Al! Glad you enjoyed it. It sounds like a really cool place. How pricey was it? And...Dare I hold out hope for a pic of you in that purple dress?
Yes. There are now two active threads where I discuss my impure thoughts towards you.
alaristhered
08-13-2008, 02:47 PM
Without tax and tip the price came to about $80 per person. Keep in mind that we stuck to the menu, didn't alter anything, and elected NOT to do a wine pairing, which would have cost extra. Even though $80 per sounds way expensive, I honestly feel that it was not overpriced and that we definitely got what we paid for. Champagne, hors d'ouvres, appetizer, fowl course, salad, sorbet, entree, and dessert for $80 per - I feel totally okay with that.
Oh, and the purple dress is actually pretty demure. I didn't want to shock the mostly over 40 crowd at this place - we're talking the O.C. which is known for rich, old Republicans, despite the recent TV show that tried to bust that image.
Next time I'll try the white dress, which makes All Love me And Despair.

I have a blue silk dress like that. I'm hoping that since Boy is at camp for our anniversary next week, the Mr. will take me somewhere nice where I can wear it. (And then he can rip it off me. Just like I'd imagine the Lost hunks might do, to get back on topic.)
Jakester
08-14-2008, 08:12 AM
Wow, Al. I would've thought it was more expensive than that. I mean, $80/person isn't cheap, but for that type of experience, I think it's very reasonable.
Now I'm hungry.

What, what, WHAT? State your source! Are these rumors, or honestly spoilers? This could be good.
well apparantly I'd missed this, there are two co-workers who are LOST fans in my department at work that were talking about Daniel Day Kim's being signed for the 5th season... his position (at least temporarily) is that he is still a regular cast member, but because this was my co-workers, i'm taking it as truth but it cant be verified with a source.
as for "that darned french chick" her back story has never been explained, Danielle never even got ONE flashback before she and Alex bit the bullet... i dont know how but to be fair she's almost like a series regular yet her back story never got told... why?
again, office co-worker talk, not a definant "announced" spoiler but one i'd take as truth... her story might not roll out this season, it might be 6th season but I'm going with my gut they'll find some character to tell Danielle's backstory....either that or she's not dead and she completely lied about her island origins to the LOSTIES.
mckracken
08-28-2008, 06:08 PM
i've also noticed that all the flashbacks that we have been shown are truthful flashbacks of past events.
Ben, the only character that got a flashback that lied about his origins, his flashbacks were of REAL past events and not images that he'd fabricated.
as with Danielle, it's entirely possible that because her "Island Origin story" is a lie or cover-up, thy have not shown us any real Danielle flashbacks yet because they dont want to let her REAL TRUE story unravel till much later on.
alaristhered
08-31-2008, 10:21 AM
One thing I enjoy about the flashbacks is the "honesty" inherent in them. We get to see these people without the airs and attitudes that they use to protect themselves while on the island.
mckracken
08-31-2008, 08:33 PM
perhaps the Danielle backstory will finally be revealed once the Oceanic 6 all return to the island at Ben's advice... perhaps Danielle was originally part of a group that escaped the island and she and her group was actually RETURNING to the island (at Ben's advice?) caught a virus and they all died except for her.
Could it be that her story of 16 survival years on the Island werent all sequential? That she escaped for some years, and was drawn back to the island?
alaristhered
09-01-2008, 01:54 PM
I dunno...that sounds kind of doubtful to me. Danielle certainly would have told the Losties if she got off the island. Or, at least, would have told them that it was futile to TRY to get off.
mckracken
09-01-2008, 11:31 PM
well think about it, Danielle did say she knew nothing of anything. no knowledge of DHARMA or the PURGE or any life on the island at all, just that their was a radio tower and her child was stolen by "the voices" but prior to running into Jack and Sayid she had never seen another living soul on the island for 16 years...she suspected that somebody was on the island but never saw anyone.

I'm Lost. Pun intended. When and how did she meet Ben? Did Ben just snatch Alex and never even communicate with Danielle? Or is Danielle a big fat liar? Make that a big, fat, DEAD liar.

one of Danielle's net-traps caught Ben (or was that deliberate?) and she was the first to find him and he was using an assumed name (from Wizard of oz) a few seasons back when they first introduced his character.
