When Charlie's vividly surreal dreams lead him to believe Claire's baby, Aaron, is in danger, Locke suspects Charlie may be using again. Meanwhile, Sawyer encourages Hurley to act on his attraction to Libby.
The question is: Does Charlie use again? Are his dreams because of some island mojo or from some white powder mojo?

I need to watch it again.

Not a big fan of Charlie. I thought the Episode was just so-so. Why didn't Locke just destroy the drugs? At least he put them with the guns where they would be safe.......wait, nevermind.

Heroin is a painkiller - I'm assuming that's why Locke kept it.
I'll comment on this episode tomorrow after I've watched it a second time - right now I'm disgusted with almost every character on this show - not to mention that it feels like Locke was written out of character in this episode.

Locke felt horribly out of character to me. More aggressive than passive-aggressive. But I gathered that he feels superior to Charlie because he has/had a drug habit, and John's got some kind of father figure type crush on Claire. We're so used to seeing him in confrontations with Jack, to whom he feels inferior...inferiority leads to the "I'm upset, but I'm not going to do anything about it because you could destroy me" sort of thing. Probably the same effect that Locke has on Charlie. Shepard is to Locke as Locke is to Charlie.
I don't think this was entirely out of character actually, I think this episode just added a lot of depth to John Locke.
More on Charlie after I watch it again though....this was a weird one. How many weeks is the delay between new episodes this time?

Here I was angry at myself for sleeping through primetime TV.
Now, I guess I can be content knowing I missed an episode focused on a character I truly hate......Charlie needs to grow up.
If the posts above are correct, the drugs should have be destroyed and Charlie should be locked in a closet in the hatch(if there is a closet) and he should only come out when the writers have improved his character.

Are you kidding me!?!?! Driveshaft rulez!!!!

Driveshaft may rule but Charlie's character is way too flexible.
He needs to either grow up or drown in a puddle of drugs.
It seems like the writers are having a hard time keeping Charlie going in a direction.

I have to agree, I think this was one of the weaker episodes. The backstory really didn't show us anything new. At least with his family issues, he fights right into the rest of the group on the island.
Why was Eko marking trees? "These are the ones I like" Ok.......
Was Charlie using? My personal theory is no. However, I wonder if his moodswings, dreams, and unexplained actions are a possible indication of him falling under the influence of the 'Others'. Cmon, Desmond didn't seem the most rational guy when they found him in the bunker either.
Hurley and Libby were cute together, but I think there's more there. I have a bad feeling she might be a mole or a plant inside the survivors tribe. Sawyer sure pulled a 6th grade move on Hurley to get her attention didn't he? :)

Where did Desmond go to?
Answer that question for me....That probably belongs in a speculation thread too but damn, I'm curious.
Did he just fly away like Peter Pan?
I have been glued to my screen since summer, when they ran reruns of the first season. Up until last night. Either Charlie is the most annoying and useless character, or he's just not developed enough to carry a whole episode. I don't particularly like scenes with him to begin with, and watching his crazy delusions didn't make me care more about him. Maybe I just have no sympathy for junkies, but I almost would've rather seen him using again.
I also wonder if the others are beginning to have an influence on him. Or perhaps because his will is so weak, the magnets are unravelling his mind?

He went to the otherside of the Island to hang out at the All incluesive resort area.

Charlie gets a raw deal, he is the most tragic character on the Island.

I have a feeling that Hurley was at one time in an institution where Libby worked.
And the only reason I hate Charlie is because he is banging Kate for real!

I totally forgot about that! And Libby did say she was a pyschcologist or something, didn't she?
Good call, Fastcar.

Okay...I had a post about the episode all ready to go last night and then my comptuer decided to steal my joy and just crash. Grrr....
Anyway, I was actually pretty bored with last night's episode. Mostly because Charlie has been so boring these past few episodes. Boring, predictable and completely impossible to like. I just don't even care if Charlie disappeared from the cast because he really hasn't done much besides provide comic relief. Now that Locke is doing the whole father figure thing with Claire and her kid....Charlie has lost his purpose. The baby was baptized, Charlie thinks all the drugs are gone (he has to assume Locke destroyed them all) so he really doesn't have much to do now that no one trusts him. So what now? We get to watch him mope around until he happens upon the drugs in the bunker one day? Whoopidty doo. I know he is a tragic character but still....give him something to do besides brood.
Gotta agree with Mae though. Locke didn't seem like Locke this episode. He got almost a little too protective of Claire and the baby. I mean, I know he doesn't trust Charlie because of the drugs but still....what happened to the guy who believe the island was testing their faith? That all of this was a test? Why didn't he respond when Charlie brought that up?
I'm just disappointed with the complete lack of Other's talk. No speculations, no nothing about them. It's like it never happened. Kate & Sawyer still wanna-maybe-kinda-hump and don't even bother. Hurley and Libby seem to be developing into a decent side storyline. What was with that question though? "Doesn't this washer & dryer seem newer then everything else in here?" Maybe I'm just trying to look more into it...
I'd hate to fail to mention that Mr. Eko is by far one of my favorite characters on the show now. He is so relentlesly mysterious and ambiguous at the moment. You know....kind of like Locke used to be before he started playing daddy.
Minion: Is also let down that Eko (as well as Charlie) don't seem all that phased about staring down that god damned cloud.

Yeah...they're awesome...

I don't think he bangs EL. I would imagine he makes wuss love to her.

I have also wondered where the heck Desmond went to. It's an island, for Pete's sake. There are only so many places he can be! I bet you we'll find out The Others got him...

Hey, haven't you heard? Once you've had Hobbit you never go back.:p
But on other subjects, I don't think Locke preserved the drugs for medical reasons otherwise, why not tell Jack, you know, the island's only doctor? I think he's saving them for when he thinks Charlie is ready to pass their test.
As for Hurley/Libby, two possibilities:
1: She either worked briefly (would have to be brief or Hurley would remember her better) at the mental ward where Hurley was a patient or perhaps visited as part of her classes.
2: What if she's not really a psychologist? What if she was also a patient? Again she might have only been there briefly or perhaps the ward was sexually segregated.
According to Lostpedia (http://www.lostpedia.com) the washer dryer is indeed a modern Whirlpool duet.

I read that Dominick and Evangeline are engaged in real life. Can't remember where I read it, though.
The washer and drier: either the set decorators went bonkers trying to find "period" appliances and gave up, prompting the writers to have an in-joke, or they are trying to tell us that someone has visited the island recently. Somehow I doubt that Desmond was shipwrecked with a brand new Whirlpool washer and drier, and hauled them into the bunker, and they still worked!

They could have found a washer and dryer that didn't stick out like a sore thumb, I mean those things are the high dollar models. It has to mean something.......maybe.........or not.....who knows?

One should keep in mind that the storeroom held just enough supplies for one guy for three months. it's an unlikely coincidence that after twentysome years the bunker was just then running low on supplies. Plus Desmond was expecting someone, maybe the supply wagon?
