I have never been so moved by a political event as I was tonight. I turned to my wife with tears in my eyes, unable to express how truly proud I felt to be an American and a human being. I don't care what your beliefs are. If you saw or heard his man accept the nomination, you can't tell me that some part of you wasn't touched by what he said.

If you sat and listened to this speech with an open mind, then you heard one of the most honest and powerful speeches to be given in more than 2 generations.
The gut feeling I had when I heard him speak at the 2004 convention was validated in every way by this speech tonight. I knew then he would go on to be President and I still believe that now.
Now, of course if you sat there with typical partisan cynicism, then you heard only what the Fox News Network and the EIB Network told you what would be heard.
I defy any one still doubting to honestly tell me you still don't know what his policies are and what his positions will be. He laid them out word by word. He spoke to Democrats with support for social support. He spoke to Liberals with specific ideas for how to address poverty and the income inequality. He spoke to Republicans with specific goals and moves necessary in the middle east for successfully defending America. He spoke to Conservatives when he said in no uncertain terms that he would not raise taxes on the middle class but would lower them for nearly 95% of all Americans AND that he would pay for it by reforming the tax code and closing corporate loopholes. And finally he spoke to Independents by making clear that the partisan bitterness and personal attacks that define the 2 parties DO NOT define his candidacy or his campaign.
IS there still any doubt who this man is or what he stands for? I ask you.

I was one of those that knew in 2004 that this guy was something special. I am so glad that I was right. While I thought the speech was amazing, I couldn't help but listen with the ear of a pundit. There were many places that I could list the Republican responses and arguments against his statements. I will be interested to hear the response from them. I also can't imagine that the Repulicans can come up with anything at their convention that can come close to the absolute spectacle that the last week has been.

McCain can try to match Obama. But, he will fail.
They will have to turn up the microphones so we can hear and understand him.

Yup. I finally turned myself away from CNN for a minute to see if Olberman was crying yet, only to find Chris Matthews and PAT BUCHANAN gushing over their microphones, lol. and made my way to Fox to find some no name lady from Forbes? I dunno some right winger going on about how he "Missed" and opportunity here and this was just more of the same, blah blah blah. Like I said, listening with intent to deride.
As far as McCain's acceptance speech, I read yesterday that they are having trouble filling the 10,000 seat auditorium for the convention. less than 1/2 of the seats are reportedly filled.
