First off, I am fed up with Time Warner internet, and the cable tv package that comes along with it. The amount of time I am bumped offline is the main reason for that, plus their idiot customer service. I even had a tech come out to check the connection here, but because it was working at the moment (gee, i guess it's my fault for scheduling an appointment for when the modem was actually working) he said there wasn't anything he could see was wrong, he plugged the mdem into a thing on his belt and looked at his assistant like I didn't know what I was talking about. He said that the nearby road work may have something to do about it and that the hours I am on the internet, I should expect more traffic and difficult connection. WTFU?!

Type in Costa Mesa and Time Warner and you see articles about how the city wants to sue Time Warner for breach of contract, something Los Angeles is doing.

SO... AT&T offers satellite tv, DSL, AND a landline/cellular package for 150 bucks a month, and I'm ready to make the jump....but I'd like to ask if anyone out there has any AT&T stories, good or bad....

Thank you in advance. :o

I had AT&T DSL for several years and I liked it. I haven't had the whole package, because I don't want to change my wireless carrier. Actually, I just made the switch to Time Warner for the cable, internet and phone service. So far, it's been OK.

I can only vouch for Time Warner man, I've had them for years now - the whole package, high speed internet, home phone and cable. I've never had an issue. Sorry to hear the issues man.

I have ATT DSL (used to be SBC, but ATT bought them out), and they've always been very good with tech support. I don't have them for wireless or cable, I've got satellite instead, so I can't say.

Does DSL have to go through a phone line? I want to switch because I am tired of paying 50 bucks a month for an internet connection, but if I have to pay for a phone line I won't use too, it won't be financially beneficial to switch.

Well, after wasting a nice amount of what was supposed to be a day off, they say they will make sure I get taken care of.

 suuure.

They gave me a month's free service, so that'll give me time to get AT&T lined up, but Jiminy Crikets, how about just sticking to their end of the bargain? You know, I pay money for the service they claim to provide? :(

I don't go looking for trouble and bad service, I do my best to avoid it. God, I hate big companies.

I've had Verizon internet for almost 10 years now (started with DSL, now FiOS) and Verizon wireless cell service for like two years now. I've been extremely happy with Verizon and their services. They've pretty much gone out of their way to fix any problems we've had. We had Comcast cable, but they kept taking channels away from non-digital cable. Verizon FiOS TV isn't available in the actual city of Pittsburgh yet, so we got DirecTV (only like 10 bucks more a month than regular cable with twice as many channels AND a DVR yay). DirecTV has been nice, had it since March, and no real problems at all.

That said, I know that isn't what you asked about. I don't have any experiences with AT&T so I can't help ya out there. :p

TV, I'd be interested in how the satellite will work in the winter with the big snow storms and such.

I've got FIOS for internet, TW for cable and ATT for cell. I probably should look into bundling.

We have Dish and we had record snow fall here last year with no interruption.

We have service interruption when there is a big thunderstorm.

I've had Comcast for some time (we were Adelphia, but they went under and got taken over by Comcast). Internet connection speeds have been very good -- I routinely see 3mb downloads.

However, their tech support sucks ass. I occasionally find a person with a clue, and then, it's a joy, but usually, they've no idea what I'm talking about.

I also have a digital cable package with them, and two DVRs. I think the whole thing runs me < $120, but I somehow fanagled a deal based on the old Adelphia rates. Most people I know are paying more than that for less.

And for home phone service, I found that going with Vonage is cheaper than any bundled savings I might get from Comcast. Vonage is $24.99/month as opposed to the regular rate of $39.99/mo for Comcast's VoIP solution.

I'm not sure, but I think you can also get DSL through cable lines, too. I have a bundled package with ATT; with the long-term contract and regular phone service they give me DSL for $19.99 a month.

As soon as I get off my ass and get the right equipment, I'm going to dump their long-distance in favor of Skype, though. I never use ATT long distance(use my Verizon cell), and a couple months ago we made some calls to England for a family emergency and they totally raped us out the ass--charged something ridiculous like $2/min.
