Apparently they didn't cut the crap out of ST:TFF. Otherwise it would have been a better movie. :D

Thanks mate , . . .

I'll look around . . .

Not to be too harsh but I thought the E.T. 20th anniversary edition was crap. . .

I'd love to see S.S. do a better one. . .

Leon: The Professional - They cut easily 30-40 minutes from the U.S. release because they knew how squeamish Americans are about an implied attraction between Portman's and Reno's characters. Yet they leave all the bloody parts in.

The Abyss - The extended version makes a helluva lot more sense.

Aliens - The extra 30 minutes gives you a look at the colony before the bugs take over.

Superman:the Movie - There's some nice stuff in there where he's talking to Jor-El after his first night out as Supes, and Jor-El tries to get him to reign in the pride a bit so that it doesn't go to his head.

Highlander:Endgame. . .

Yes . . I know , I know .There really shouldn't be any Highlander films after the great first one, and the other ones do suck - bad! There's no denying that . But I was a big fan of the series 92-96

But it's a film that could have been somewhat desent , but the suits at Dimen. films never gave the production team time too finish the effects and the cutting of the story for that matter. . .

So I'd be very interested to see a really good dvd finished Director's cut of that film . . .

I wonder if they could make a Director's Cut/Extended Edition of Batman Begins. Although I liked the movie we got in the theaters and don't see what they could do to improve it.

More Christian Bale doing pushups in his jammies! :D

I really liked the movie too . .

But The cutting of the fight scenes were not that great . . .

Althought I can very much appreciate the brutality of what they were trying to do with them. They were way too jumpy and in your face cuts.

It was actually really hard to tell that Batman had learned any skill because the fight scenes looked the same as the seq. when the Chinese guys jumped him in the beginning . . .

Would'nt mind mabie seeing a little more of the Scarecrow either . In an E.E.

The cut of Robocop that is included in the current boxed DVD set is the unrated director's cut. You can also spring for the Criterion release.

You really don't like Katie Holmes, do you?

I'm not particularly wild about her but I don't have a hate on for her. It's just a quirk in her acting style that I've noticed and think is worth some humor.

Before she got all Scientology, parts of me were definitely moved by her. Especially by her performance in The Gift.

Yes, I like DVD. I keep up on what's new and old and groovy and crap. I don't get to watch 'em nearly as much as I used to, though since having two kids....There just isn't time to fit in watching extras in between my limited pr0n viewing anymore.

you guys are funny.ID like to see an extended edition of the revenge of the sith, ground hogs day ,the hunted and the new war of the worlds. that movie just seemed like it needed more something:D

Jakester
03-31-2006, 08:57 PM
Fuck, kiddo, it needed less! The son needed to fucking die, and his ex needed to be smoldering ash.

Extending Sith would turn a marginally good movie into...into...Episode I.

And isn't Groundhog Day that flick where the same shit happens over and over again? Why would you want MORE of the same shit? Goddamn, you can extend this movie yourself. Mark a segment of the flick you like and use fucking A-B REPEAT.

I'm going to go cry now.

With the Gladiator E.E. & the newly Extended E. of Ridley Scotts 'Kingdom of Heaven' , It got me excited about other future Director's extended versions that our rumored to pass our way within the coming year or next . . .

King Kong(Peter Jackson)

Blade Runner

Taps( Ann. version)

Narnia

Superman Box set

'2007' Star Wars Definitive Director's version set

any others?

Do we really need an extended version of Kong? First thing we need for that one is an abbreviated edition where the gratuitous effects shots are cut down by about 50% each in the time they are shown for. There's half an hour off the movie right there. Then maybe, MAYBE, they should think about it.

I would like to very much see an E.E. of Narnia . . .

What are you looking foward to mate?

Jakester
07-15-2006, 04:10 AM
There are rumblings that Narnia will get an extended cut around Christmas time.

As far as Kong, I could deal with extended character scenes, or even extended Kong scenes, as long as the bronto chase and the worm attack stuff was trimmed significantly. The bronto chase because the effects really sucked and took me out of the movie (plus it was just too long), and the worm thing was just icky.

Brade Runner is finally coming. First, we'll get a re-release of the existing director's cut, and then the new cut will hit theaters and then we'll get an uber-cool final release. And before anyone goes on about double (or triple) dipping by the studios, the extras on the new D.C. release will be different than the final release, so it won't make it worthless.

Scott is like the master of the DVD extras. I'm looking forward to getting the director's edition of Kingdom of Heaven. The extra footage really helped the movie (and I liked the original cut).

I'm a little confused but excited about the new Blade Runner version?

Aren't there already multiple versions of B.R. on dvd?

Jakester
07-15-2006, 07:31 PM
Okey. There's a DVD edition of Blade Runner that's out now. It's a barebones "Director's Cut." It's not really Scott's final cut, but it's better than the theatrical release (at least in his estimation). It loses the voiceover, the "happy ending" and adds some scenes.

This will be re-released as a special edition in the fall/winter. There will be as-yet-to-be-announced extra goodness. It will also only be available for a limited time.

After that, early next year, a new "final cut" will be screened theatrically. No idea what it'll be like. Following that, there will be an ultimate edition Blade Runner DVD set containing lots of extras, none of which will have been released before (so the extras on the DC from the fall will be exclusive to that set). As for the movie, you'll be able to watch any of FOUR (4!) versions of the film -- the U.S. Theatrical Cut, the international (more violent) cut, the "Director's Cut," and, finally, the "Final Cut" (or maybe it's "Definitive Cut"). It will make you wet your pants.
