I just watched The Fall on DVD, and I wish I could have seen it in theaters. The movie is visually lush and imaginative. The "story" segments are especially colorful and creatively shot.

This was directed by Tarsem Singh who also directed The Cell. I thought The Cell had some great visuals, but was lacking a bit in the actual "movie" side of things. I had no such qualms about this one. It is a quality flick through and through.

Lee Pace (of Wonderfalls and Pushing Daisies fame) gives a great performance as the lead actor. As good as he is, he is outshined by the lead actress in the movie, ten-year-old Catinca Untara. Her performance is at turns raw, touching, amusing, and heart-breaking. The climatic scene between these two is especially gut-wrenching and emotional.

Has anyone else seen this gem?

I downloaded a set of high-res pics from The Fall, at some blog somewhere...I didn't realize it was a 2006 movie, though.

I'm definitely going to get it, now that I've seen the trailer, Tarsem Singh's movies and music videos are like moving paintings.

i remember that one. I had wanted to go check it out but missed it in theaters... with a title like "The Fall" its easy to slip through the cracks... its not like it's called something memorable.

True, it could have been called something a bit more memorable, but the title makes perfect sense after watching the movie, at least to me.

Haven't checked it out yet, but it's been on my list of things to see. I liked the visuals of The Cell as well, but wished the story could've been at the same level. I've heard good things about The Fall.

I just wish Tarsem would do movies more often. At the very least, they are pretty to look at. Hopefully The Fall is a sign of good things to come.

Just saw this movie a couple of days ago and I really enjoyed it. And, the title of the movie actually made me smile after the film was over just how it was both thematic and figurative and... really literal.
