The x-men movies have been the best comic book experience I've ever had on the big screen. Characters with actual depth and appeal coupled with great action and adventure. The most important appeal I think (especially to people that are not comic/fiction fans) is the sense of realism in the movies. Details such as the 1st movie starting with the holocaust and the real world settings ect. moves the audience to believe that such fantastical adventures are almost plausible. I fear that the introduction of 30-foot robots might cross this fine line between slightly augmenting reality and completely violating it. Just a thought. Let me know what you guys think.

I know what you are saying but it really (in my opinion) doesn't matter if the Sentinal's seem realist or not because they were in the X-men comics and were a major part of x-men so they should be put in the movie the way they were put in the comics.

The sentinels should be apart of the X3 storyline, but they shouldn't look so stupid like they did in the cartoon. They should be given a bestial mechanic terrorizing sort of appearance with numerous gadgets to catch mutants. The reason why the X-men are so well to relate with is because of the characters and their characteristics, not of the storyline and who's in it. We are able to feel what they feel, and identify what they are dealing with.

As a comics fan I want to see Sentinels but as a movie fan I think its a bad idea only because I still haven't seen robot CGI that I couldn't tell was computer generated. And when you have so many characters that require special effects I don't believe the next movie will have a big enough budget to make the Sentinels look real. And when I see something that looks fake it just takes my mind off the story completely. But of course, that's just my opinion. I seem to be more critical of CGI than the general movie going audience anyway.

I think Sentinels could make a lot of sense in X3 (perhaps unleashed as a detterent against Phoenix), but I too am wary of how it would turn out. They already had a budget of over 100 million to do all the effects, etc in X2. To throw Sentinels into the loop as well would require at least 150 mil...that may be pushing it...
But in reality, I guess we should wait to see how X2 does on DVD. The first movie was a HUGE hit on DVD and that was crucial in convincing Fox to give X2 more money. Maybe the same could be true this time as well.

I think people overestimate the cost Sentinels would be to do. A lot of the budget in X2 was expensive because it was stuff that hadn't been done before (i.e. Bamfing). Robot-stuff has been done for decades, so I don't think it'd be double the cost or anything.
Besides, if Warner Brothers think it's safe to throw $170 million at the questionable T3, I don't think Fox would be totally against giving X3 a budget near the century-and-a-half mark.

give me sentinals in all their 30ft tall glory!leave off purple paint,or make it darker, though.
here is the intro for them-
mutant team just had a power overload and their parents yell @ him, locking him in his/her room, calling him/her a freak.kid hears noise, looks out the window, nothing.starts to go to bed.homage to Jurassic Park with water rippling inside of glass, then massive headlights blare through kids window, big old hand crashes through roof, scooping up kid.

Well, the closest I have seen Sentinels has been all those movies where Godzilla has fought Mechagodzilla ( a robot created to destroy the Big G, but it's always been that Godzilla has turned the robot into metal spare parts). I don't think Sentinels would look all that great in the movies. Warners is doing that with T3, because they don;t know any better. I don't think Fox wants to take that chance.

Im all for sentinels but I dont think they should be so big, and the coloring should be changed.

At this point I would just like to remind you all that the reason the sentinels were introduced into the comics in the first place was so that Wolverine would have an enemy to slice and dice as chopping up a person was considered too violent at the time. But in X2 Wolverine got to go really wild on a few wannabe badass seal-types (possibly my favorite part of the movie). So, technically there is no reason to ad the sentinels to the story line. But let’s presume for a moment that they are in X3. In order to keep the plausible atmosphere I mentioned earlier, I imagine the sentinels about twice human height (more or less the posture of Ang Lee's Hulk) with a really bulky, mechanical and truly menacing appearance. And of course the level of destruction they inflict should be worthy of a sentinel. This may raise some budget concerns again, but rather do it well or don't do it at all. Whichever way they go, I guess my greatest fear is that the sentinels could become for X-men 3 what Bane was for Batman 4: a mindless after thought simply added with a "more is more" attitude. Although, I'm sure Singer won't let that happen even if he is even remotely involved in X3.

Perhaps X3 should include multiple storyline conflicts, Magneto could be in the works of creating Asteroid M after the mutant population has suffered great attacks from humans. The government is suspicious of the asteroid, they turn to scientists to create the Sentinels in order to prevent the mutants from supposed retaliation against civilians. Anyways, the X-men (with new characters introduced in the beginning of the flik) stop Magneto's mutants(earthquake, pyro, Sabertooth)from taking control of nuclear facilities all around the world. Later the X-men find out that Magneto plans to destroy the Earth and start a new civilization of all Mutants.
How about it?
