View Full Version : If not Halle, then who?

We all know that Halle Berry may not reprise her role as Storm in any more X-men movies. While this isn't a definite thing, it is a very real possibility. So my question to you is this:
If not Halle, then who?
Personally, and I'm not really sure how I feel about this, but the only name that comes to mind is Beyonce Knowles. While I have no doubt that she could pull of the look, her acting skills are certainly no where near the level of the Oscar winning Berry. Let me know what you think.

Woooohoo! I'm getting chills(the good kind) just thinking about Beyonce in tight leather.
I also wouldn't mind Sanaa Lathan (Love & Basketball, Blade) as Storm. Personally I find her sexier than Halle and I believe she could play Storm with some added toughness.

I'm happy Halle is leaving, she didn't seem like Storm. She wasn't convincing, tey need to get Angella Bassett or someone new to introduce.
If not Halle then who? No one.
Halle is a good actor, and in the last 2 movies, she has developed a distinct look and personality for Storm, which I don't feel should be attempted to replicate. There are tons and tons of other X-Men out there aside from Storm, so IMO there's no need to bring someone else in to play her. Halle was Storm, and if she is no longer Storm, then don't bring Storm back. I'm sure writers could come up with a reasonable way for her to go away.

I agree with Zac. It'd be with like The Batman movies. Trying to change the person and keep the look. DOesn't work.
Now comes the part where I relieve you, the little people, of the burden of your failed and useless lives. But remember, as my plastic surgeon always said: if you gotta go, go with a smile.
no halle, why bother having a storm, not that I liked her, but switching up actors on the same chacter is just freekin anoying. But if you have to pick someone, go with DK's choice, way hotter.
wow, i bring absolutley nothing knew to this subject. damn.

I also have to agree with Zac here. There are so many mutants that could be introduced into the franchise that replacing Halle really isn't a necessity unless Storm is somehow integral to future installments (we really don't know what Singer is planning). If they do decide to go the Phoenix route (which the end of X2 strongly suggests) then the action will most likely be centred around Jean, Scott and Logan so Storm wouldn't be crucial to the plot. And of course there's always Rogue if Jean needs a female figure to help her gain control of the Phoenix entity.

Agreed, and for this reason, Storm/Halle SHOULDN'T come back. While X2 wasn't flawed this way, the advertising for X2 was so "Look! Halle Berry is in it!" that it's like she was unintentionally hoging the spotlight. I feel if she came back for #3, the focus would be taken off the central characters norrin named and would have too much of her.

On the one hand, I hate when a new actor or actress comes in and plays a character that someone else has already established. But on the other hand, I don't want to see Storm go. She is such a big part of the X-Men world, and there is so much left undone with her character. But I do agree that in order to bring in new characters, and expand on others, some of the current players are going to have to spend some time on the bench. I'm just glad I'm not the writer who has to decide who stays and who gets shown the door.

Storm was one of my favorite characters in the book back in the day, but I could barely stand her and Halle in the movies. She was better in the second, but yes, she was over hyped. Ms. Berry is a bit too much of a diva and I say get her out before she wants to take over and have a Storm spin off.

Diana Ross is a Diva. Halle Berry is just a Drama Queen.

Personally, I hate to see the face-switching going on a la Batman myself. However, in this case I've got to disagree with Zac. (What's new, eh Zac?)
I don't really see a need to bring Storm back--really, all she's been good for is short-cutting obstacles a la fog or tornadoes that could've instead been dealt with strategic coordination, like I remember reading in the comics--but if they need to, I think Halle is totally replacable. I don't think she's give the character very much definition at all. And I think there are enough capable actresses who look similar enough to Halle that, with the wig and the weird clothes, could pass off as Storm without much grumbling.

I think Storm is integral to the movies, she has been there all along...and I think Vivica A Fox would only enhance the qualities that Ororo would display, Halle is too contained, since she has a natural inclination to be like "Jinx" and "Catwoman" anyways. Good luck to Halle, everyone has their niche, and I think Vivica would display the smoldering majesty of Storm that has been somehow missed.
(It's pronounced Anonomiss...X!)

Yeah, I personally wouldn't mind seeing Halle Berry come back for the next installment. I don't think bringing in Beyonce Knowles is going to enhance anything, anyway (except for hormone levels in males in the audience)! ;-)
I've never been too keen on bringing in other actors who've now got the unenviable task of trying to make one FORGET the person before them.... but if I absolutely HAD to, I don't think it would be Beyonce that I'd attempt this with. More like somebody like N'Bush Wright, maybe (Blade, #1), or the other choice of Sanna Latham, who's a superb actress. But I would much rather just move on to another X-character than have to have an entirely new actress come in an try to make people forget Halle. Even the people who didn't care much for her might find a different face and body being called "Storm" a bit too irritating.

yeah I dont think anyone but Halle should play storm, and she has played such a big part in the movies and become so familiar with them that I doubt they could do without storm in upcoming movies, simply because thats what most avg people want to see when they go, not something with too many changes from the first films. If Halle does not cooperate than im guessing it would mean real problems for all of production in creating X3. What are the reasons that she may not be in it? anyone know?
