Of all the lady actress they could have picked to play Storm and they picked Halle Berry. The one actress that can act has a better built would have been Angela Basset

Angela Bassett WOULD have been good, she is a little past it now.

Iman lacks acting skills.

They're just going to have to go back to the drawing board and NOT cast a star but...shudder...an unknown who 'it-just-so-happens' can BE the role better than anyone else who auditions.

-ah the good ol' days of industry.

After seeing Rosario Dawson in Sin City, I thought she could pull off Storm. Heck, she could even pull off Storm with a mohawk as she has a kinda cool one in Sin City.

What about Vivica A. Fox? She would've been better than Halle Berry, and she's younger than Angela Basset (who would've been great), so more studio-friendly.

a lot of people have said vivica a fox, but i don't see it at all. i think she definitely would not fit as storm. i don't think she would be believable at all in a leader-type role, which is what storm should be.

Physically, I could definitely see her in the role, but as an actress she always brings a lot of sass to her roles and I don't think that fits Storm's personality. But I'd still take her over Halle again.

I think NONA GAYE would be great as Storm.
There was a true regalness to her performance in ALI, and she has displayed action sequence skills in the 3rd MATRIX.

Plus, I bet she could pull off a stylized mohawk like nobodies business.

I think Iman could actually still pull this off. Everyone wants to write her off as being "too old", but she's still a gorgeous, vibrant woman, and even though she won't make people think of a young Ruby Dee, I still believe that she could do the job. She's just what the character is supposed to be, anyway: an African born woman. But, I guess since they didn't specify that in the original 2 X-films already, then I guess it wouldn't make a bit of difference if they cast an American woman, now would it? I like Znluxv's thoughts on Nona Gaye.. I think she'd make a really good Storm as well (SHHHHEEESSSH, am I fickle, or what!?)

Fickle? Not at all Biggie. Actually you are pretty consistant because I remember us bringing up Nona Gaye a long time ago in another thread. I was pulling for her to replace Halle, until I was disappointed by her performance in the Matrix sequels, but you were suggesting her for Storm after you saw the sequels.

See, there's no "flip flopping" on your part. Now, if I see her deliver another performance in a film the way she did in Ali, then I will flip flop and get on the Nona Gaye bandwagon.

My vote goes to Rosario Dawson. She can act, she looks great, and she's more believable than Halle. Halle is an okay actress but not for superhero movies.

D.K. you have at least 2 chances this summer. Nona Gaye will be in XXX: STATE OF THE UNION and CRASH (which looks REALLY good).

Tyra Banks is the closest I have seen to Storm's Goddess, her restrained passion, her extreme beauty, and her tall yet curvy figure. I bet she has the ability to act!

I don't see what the problem is for Storm to be older...She is pretty old in the comics...like her late 30's...while most are pretty young. Ororo Monroe Was always the 'mother' figure to the X-men and whoever else. So getting someone like Angela Basset wouldn't be bad.

I always Liked Pamala Grier a.k.a. Jackie Brown...she's perfect.

Storm is not old. Chris Claremont confirmed that she is the same age is Cyclops, which would make her about 30-32. And Angela Bassett is a very short woman - 5'4". In my dream world, Nona Gaye would definitely play Storm. She is the closest to Storm's actual age and body size (Storm is 5'11.75", Nona is 5'10.5"), and she has a really quiet intensity that I think Storm would have. I actually LOVED her "Matrix" performances. I wish that the message board over at her web site (http://nona-gaye.net) hadn't crashed, because someone wrote this really good analysis of Nona's character, but what they were saying is that Zee's not necessarily a likeable character. She was just a normal woman, not a bad-ass like Trinity or dedicated like Niobe or gung-ho like Charra. She fought in the Siege for the slim chance of seeing her husband again, no more and no less.

Anyway, I found this photomaniplation, and I think it captures Storm's essence perfectly. I think that's what Halle lacks. Storm has such a strong PRESENCE, and you don't need a lot of lines or things to do just to have an air of regalness. I like Halle as much as the next person, but she's a horrible Storm, and that's just a fact. She doesn't look ANYTHING like Storm, she doesn't sound like the Storm I have in my head. She's too small and too short and yes, she's too light-skinned (Storm was half Kenyan and half African-American). And with this new X3 wig, she's starting to look REALLY old! So if there's ever a Storm spinoff, I think Nona is definitely the one to call.

I say Gina Torres (Serenity, Matrix Reloaded, Justice League Unlimited (as Vixen), Cleopatra 2525, The Shield) would make a Perfect Storm. Not only does she have the look (5'10") and used to playing action roles, but, as seen in the last few episodes of The Shield this season, the woman can ACT! Seriously... she's GOOD.

Plus, she could probably wrangle her husband, Laurance Fishburne, into playing Apocolypse or something in one of the future X-films. :)

Wow. Hadn't thought of her. Of course, I had missed the season of Angel she was in and only recently got into Firefly. Rather Serenity as the Firefly box I got for Christmas is still waiting for me to watch it. Did see a couple eps on the air though.

Of course, I'd take anyone over Berry. I can't stand her. She just seems so egotastic. Reminds me of Sharon Stone. No wonder Catwoman sucked. The mass of both their egos on the set must have created a black hole and just made everything suck so that not even light could escape the pure suck of that film.

8) I looove Gina Torres but I secretly want her to play opposite Joss Whedon's Wonder Woman film as a counterpart to the Amazon princess.

As far as Storm, she would have been perfect but you know those big heads in the studios want some big name on the marquee. Storm didn't have a chance for any real credibility so they just stuck Halle Berry with it.

 Vivca may be a real Fox on the outside but on the inside she truly is ghetto. So spare me the idea of her playing Storm. You know that relationship she had with 50 Cent a while back? Sure they broke up but he HAD to break it up because word was she was stalking him. Now this girl don't play when it comes to her men so for her to play the regal Storm, she needs some therapy first and a restraining order. She's far from playing the African goddess that Storm represents in the books.

Not that it matters anyway but for me it's between Rosario Dawson, Angela Basset, and Grace Jones.

I've always seen Grace Jones, not Iman, as Storm but I don't think the studios would even think of her. Realistically it woud be between Rosario and Angela but I think Angela would have more pull on the role.

I think that it's a moot point, really. Halle Berry IS Storm at this point.... and being that the possibility is very real that this will probably be IT for the remainder of the X films as we know it, they won't go for anybody else. I mean, I understand the point of this thead (to see what other choices there are out there), but let's be frank: they wouldn't re-cast this role. Listen, even those of you who don't care for her actng or care for her in this role........maybe Bret Ratner has found the right "something" in HIS directing that's going to make this a different Storm than in the first 2 X flicks(?)
