Senormac busted me for posting my tequila comments on a beer thread. he was right, here's my start to a new thread for the harder stuff.

Let's hear about some of your faves If I drink a hard liquor it's usually Tequila or Single Malt. Anyone have any good recipes for cocktails?

(copied from my post on the "Beers I have Known" thread)

Ahhhhhh..... Teqkillya.....
Something about Tequila just hits the spot for me.

Bok's right, Me and Tequila might just kill you. If you survive, you end up one of my closest friends. I hate to admit it, but being 40 yrs old will slow the tequila consumption a bit, but I aint dead yet. By the way Bok, we were drinking a brand of tequila called "El Matador" that night. That shit will certainly klill you and we deserved the pain we were in the next day.

FLYBOY'S TEQUILATINI
here's my twist on an honest margarita (not the crap at El Torito). You'll notice that I say 1 to 2 parts of the non-tequila stuff. I prefer to stay on the light side and only use the minimum of the mixers, but if you don't like your drinks strong, then use a full measure.
2 parts (at least) of really good tequila. My choice lately is Don Julio Anejo.
1/2 to 1 part of Roses Lime juice
1/2 to 1 part of Triple sec, if your feeling fancy you can use Gran Marnier.
And this is important.....
3 drops of Tapatio hot sauce. You can also use Cholula. Do not use Tabasco, that's different stuff and we aren't talking about making drinks in New Orleans.

Put everything in a martini shaker with some ice (chipped ice is best) and shake like you're at your first prom.
Serve UP in a martini glass, and garnish with a dried red pepper. (no salt)

Go ahead, drink two and then report back here with your comments.

In resonse to the question on the Ice bar in Vegas:

Yes, I went, early on after it opened. The Red Square at Mandalay Bay. I was at a school in Vegas receiving some training for work, and one of the people attending the class had done some high-tech contract stuff for Mandalay Bay so she got us in for a free sampling of some interesting vodkas. The manager that showed us around was really great. Frozen counter in the main bar, and fur coats to wear when you go into the frozen tasting room. Interesting place. Small, but it had a comfortable feel and a vibe similar to some of the more "teknik" clubs I saw in Germany and Austria.

I used to make people this martini when they didn't know what they wanted. It's light and fruity, but will still kick you in the ass.

3 parts Absolut Citron
1 part Midori
splash sour soda

Shake with one scoop ice, then strain into a martini glass. Garnish with slice of honeydew.

I'm quite partial to a vodka and Crystal Light Ruby Red Grapefruit combo. Also, thsi restaraunt in town makes a great martini called the "Desperate Housewife." You coat the inside of a martini glass with chocolate syrup, the mix in Godiva Chocolate liquor and chocolate-flavored vodka. Yum!

Well I tried my first Irish Car Bomb last night. It was free to me, so I figured what the hell.

It was good, not amazing, but good.

Now I am looking through our old threads where people shared their recipes for drinks.

I love Jameson and Johnnie Walker (I currently have a bottle of Blue in my room just waiting for a special occasion to open it).

Normally when I have liquor it's stright up or as a shot (Tequila, Jager, ect.). If I'm going to make a mix drink it's going to be one type of liquor with another. Such as a Three Wise Men (Jack Daniels, Jim Beam, and Johnnie Walker), or a Long Island Ice Tea (sans the coke). I'll also mix my liquor with beer, when I have an Irish Car Bomb. Off the top of my head I think the only time I mix my liquor with non liquor is when I make myself an Irish Coffee.

When I think about it, some of the shots I'll have are mixed with non alcohol. Such as a SoCo and Lime.

Hi. My name is Kaeos, and , I'm an alchohoic.

I took my last drink at EXACTLY 9:74pm on December 17th, 2000. It was at my office Christmas party.

It was an open bar, they were offering free beer and wine. Hard drinks could be pruchased with tickets that you got from the front desk for $2. That way I suose they could kee track of how hammered the employes got.

I started with beer. 4 of them, actually before I grabbed my first white wine of the night. I tried the red but it wasn't up to snuff so went through another white before switching back to the beer again. At this point I really don't know how many more I had.

At one point I saw a good frind of mine Sarah has somehow managed to garner an entire bottle of white wine from the bartender and had saved 2 of her plastic beer cups. She and I took care of the bottle in short order.

We were nearing the end of the evening now and I had the presence of mind to ask for a coke to dry and clear my head. On the way some jackass was kind enough to hand me a drink ticket they didn't need because they were leaving.

Well I still wanted the jack and coke.....coke. Well so it turned out to be a jack and coke after all. I planted myself at a corner table with my drink as as I sipped, I watched in wonder at the edges of my vision began to turn in on themselves leaving behind a sort of tunnel.

When I realized I was looking through a black tunnel I decided I may have had to much to drink. I looked for a clock and found one that read 9:47. I stared sullenly at the half empty glass of jack an coke and decided that I was dissapointed I couldn't finish my drink. Wasteful.

Finally my friend Joel found me and rounded up some folks to get me out of there. I recall watching in wonder as I was lead out of the room by someone I didn't know down at the end of that nifty black tunnel and out to Joel's car. He got me home.

I was sick for 3 days. That was the second time in my life that I walked away from some very good friends; Labatt, Jack Daniels, Black Velvet, Smirnoff, Budwieser, Goldschlager, Rumpelmintz, Captain Morgan, Old Grandad, Red Wolf, JW Dundees Honey Brown Lager.

Hope I didn't ruin your thread :o

Dude, you must have been messed up drunk if you caused time to be altered like that! 9:74pm? Wow, I've been close, but I don't think I ever went that far....

...Hope I didn't ruin your thread :o

Not at all man, thanks for sharing. I know it isn't easy to shut off the liquor faucet, and I respect you for your choice to remain sober.
