Okay, so recently, my father bought a new surround sound system for his room, and he wants to give me his old one (which is not as good as the new one but it's still good). However, I rarely watch TV or movies in my room, but I use my computer alot.

Now, I was just wondering if you guys know of any adapters or other things that can allow me to use the old surround sound on my computer. In it's current form, I can't use it.

Anything that could help me would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest thing to do would just be to buy a new sound card for you computer, one that supports native surround sound. It depends on the speaker connectors, but a little splicing and a few trips to RadioShack can convert any of those nutty connectors.

A soundcard like this one (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1068175&CatId=107) is what you're going to want to look for. Are your current computer speakers plugged into a soundcard or do you just use the onboard sound from the motherboard?

I've got my sterio plugged into my computer. I've got 1' tall computer speakers. I just have a headphone to red-white cable ($20 from Source) into my aux imput. Just go to your local crappy electronics store that has wires and such and let them know what you need, they'll have it.
