View Full Version : The ever-confusing mystery of Felicia Hardy

I originally posted this in the DCG section, following a cool-looking picture by Darth Zaiyen of the Black Cat, but thought it more appropriate here.

When I've searched google for Brooke Adams (the "actress" who plays Felicia Hardy in Spidey 2), it yields 2 very strange results. One is that if you do a straight search for Brooke Adams, you get some actress in her 50s born in 1948 or 1949. Now, I was told to search for Brooke Allison instead, so I did that, but it turns out she's the opposite extreme! Instead of being a woman in her 50s, she seems to be only 14 years old (although she looks pretty good and could pass for 18) as she was born in 1986.

She also seems to be a singer too (in the mould of a Britney Spears wannabe), but I've never heard any of her stuff. Isn't she now too young to play Felicia Hardy? And it can't be yet another Brooke Adams/Allison, because it says she was born Brooke Allison Adams so how much closer can you get? And having looked at her pictures, it looks the same one which Darth Zaiyen used.

So is Felicia Hardy only in fact 14??

Welshy....what year do you think it is right now...? lol

2003 - 1986 = 17

Although she won't actually be turning 17 until September

Did I say that I work things out according to cat years? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Still, she is pretty young. But at least it isn't the actress in her 50s!

I listened to some sound bytes of her on Amazon under Brooke Allison (she has an album and single out) and no surprise, she sounded like a cross between Britney Spears or Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Most pics of Brooke "Brooke Allison" Adams are a few years old, which is why she looks 14.

Well I actually bought a Jennifer Love Hewitt album once, but there were only about 4 1/2 good songs on it (ie listenable) and therefore way too expensive to keep. So I returned it.

I wish that Brooke Allison/Adams could've chosen a different sound instead of going for the teenybopper sound. It would've been much more refreshing if, being only a teenager, she was like, say Norah Jones, Eva Cassidy or even someone like Sarah Maclachlan, Lori McKenna, Tara Maclean, Chantal Kreviazuk, Jann Arden or Jewel [Hey, Essex, if you're Canadian some of these names should mean something to you]. Then perhaps Brooke could've even contributed to the Spider-Man 2 soundtrack. How cool would that have been - having the Black Cat singing on the soundtrack! But as she sounds now, I wouldn't want to hear her on it at all!

One thing I've noticed about the teenybopper singers, is that they can easily branch out to a different style of music. Christina has a few slow songs, Britney... eh well, she's Britney. Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that I think, if given the chance to have a song on the soundtrack, she could easily do a non-pop song.

Darth, maybe you might want to consider amending your picture to say "Brooke Allison Adams" as Black Cat, and for Essex to update the keyword accordingly. Otherwise it could be very confusing and difficult to differentiate between the two Brooke Adams. And you never know, I might, for some strange reason, be suddenly inspired to do a picture of the fifty-something Brooke Adams as the Black Cat!

Shall we now call her the Black Cougar?

No Way!!

I can see it now....The Black Cougar drives up beside young Peter Parker as he walks home from school. As she offers him some candy, she looks up and down the lanky kid and....well the story just writes itself!!

You know you want it, D.K.!!!!

Anyway, back to the underage chick... er.. younger starlet. She doesn't look bad for the part. Though wonder how she's look next to 20 somehtings like Tobey and Kirsten.

Also, too bad for her Britney-ness. I prefer the Michelle Branches, Vanessa Carltons, or even your Avil Lavinges before they started playing the hell outta her and that damn Sk8ter Boi. Blech. I hated that one and they had to make it a single. Oh and then there's your TATUs. .. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/rolleyes.gif

i realy dont care for any modern pop music. norash jones, avril, all dems chicks with guitars are just as formulated as brittaney of all the rest. people are just growing out of bubble gum. theyre music is put together by an elite team of markey analyisits. yes they wrtie theyre own songs, with gestopo looking over thier shoulders. only difference is these girls are actually talented, and its sad that they are wasting such talent of formula pop.

yes on prinable, as well as the fact that the songs are repedative, mediocure, and without heart. i like music that has feeling behind it. soul damn it. aritha franklin had soul. johnny rotton and the sex pistols, when they sang on the berlin wall with the rage that could burn down your house, they had soul. these girls, have sold thier souls to the corperation. i know how that sounds but i belive it. but its not too late to get them back damnit!

On superherohype, either yesterday or today they posted a picture of "Brooke Adams" as Felicia Hardy in a Columbia University cheerleader uniform(AWESOME!), well without any further delay, http://www.superherohype.com/cgi-bin/news/fullnews.cgi?newsid1053756310,79206,

ALSO, i was checking IMDB and I found this, and this is our Brooke Adams in Spider-Man 2, http://us.imdb.com/Name?Adams,+Brooke+(II)

OH MY GOD, SHE'S MY AGE! THANKYOU GOD!!!!!!

I'm hoping that, if she is a cheerleader at Columbia University, she doesn't turn out to be a Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina the Teenage Witch) type. She was annoying, and she once played in some tv movie where she was a bit of a highschool slut but also a murderess.

Here's another thought: If we had known Brooke Adams was a Britney wannabe from the start, would we have welcomed her casting? In other words, if she had already made it big like Britney Spears and was well known for her music, would we think of her any differently? And on that basis, would you have ever thought to cast Britney Spears as Felicia Hardy? Personally, the thought of Britney as Felicia is really quite hard to stomach.

Well every time I asked in another thread what made her so special that Sam Rami would cast her, every response was "'cause she's hot!". So I wouldn't expect a backlash over the pop princess thing.

i really wouldn't like britney spears as felicia hardy, not just because i hate her, but she's not right for the part and she can't act.

i dont like her, shes from west texas. im in west texas, people, let me tell you, this place sucks a whole lot of ass. if shes from around hear, then it s wonder she isnt pregnant. what is she 17? yes shes to years late for her first babie by west texas standards.

but, its not a huge roll shes got. so im not to worried, besides ya never know she may turn out good. i mean, i havent heard about her untill i read about her being cast in this movie. so, i dont know if shes the kind of pop chick ide like to murder with a large rock.

From Google i found Yahoo Movies saying:
"(5/9/03) Young model/actress Brooke Adams, who will become the youngest "Maxim" cover girl ever this fall, has landed the role of Felicia Hardy, who in the comics is also known as the Black Cat. It's possible that she may be introduced in this movie so that she can become the Black Cat in 'Spidey 3'? "

Would Felicia Hardy actually be a love interest of Peter Parker in Spidey 2? In the comics, she was only interested in Spider-Man and not Peter Parker at all. She didn't even like him taking off his mask.

I've got a few comics with Felicia in them and she was a double-crossing skank in most of them. But I guess she could still be considered a love interest if Peter is chasing her, but she's after Spidey. Hmmmn, that scenario sounds familiar(like MJ in the first movie).

Which Black Cat costume would you like to see Brooke Allison wearing in a future Spidey movie? The original costume with white boots and gloves? The second costume with a jacket and large face mask (after she was heavily beaten up in Spectacular Spider-Man after losing her powers)? Or the Marvel Select super cleavage costume (with fur trimmings but black boots and gloves)?

Definitely the original costume with the black body suit and the white boots and gloves. I love this classic look. The 80s costume was horrific, gaudy beyond belief. Why tamper with purrfection?

Darth_zaiyen

I'm sure they will combine elements of her 1st costume and latest one. Aside from the giant cleavage (thank you, Terry Dodson), I don't think I'd want either costume to be copied straight from the funny pages. I think a little artist license is in order as well http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif
