Lately Sully just makes me laugh all the time. When I talk to him, he fake coughs, then laughs his ass off. Or he makes this noise that sounds like the baby dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. And when I go out to the balcony to smoke, he crawls up to the door and plasters his face and hands on the glass and grins at me.

What do your kids do that entertain everyone around?

Careful there. When Neglet Jr. was just 14 months, he managed to turn the deadlock on the front door when I stepped out to get the paper. I couldn't get him to turn it back, so I was stuck outside in early April with no shoes on, trying not to panic because my baby was inside the house alone. I couldn't reach my husband on the phone, but luckily got my parents on the phone just as they were about to leave their house. They came over with their key and let me in.

You'd think 30 minutes alone in the house, with Mom outside trying to convince him to turn the bolt would have freaked the little brat out, but nooooo, no separation anxiety there.:dunno:

LOL!! Fortunately, or unfortunately, I can barely get the door to lock. I'm more afraid of him in summertime pushing right through the screen. I think I am going to invest in a Toys 'r Us corral. Super Yard (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004RA66/qid=1141845644/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-6551973-2897517?v=glance&s=toys)

Wow, Negs, my daughter did the same sort of thing to my wife, except she wasn't even a year old. We had a foot lock on the sliding glass door to the back yard and Kimberley went out to pick something up that had blown over and Julia clicked the lock. She had to run to a neighbor's house to call me to get home.

Julia amuses by using rather large words correctly. For example, she asked for more milk the other evening and when I gave it to her, she said, "Thank you, Daddy. I really appreciate that."

My kids are a constant source of entertainment.
When I come home sometimes, walking up the driveway at the end of the day,
I'll see (what Kah described earlier from her kid)
my 4, 2 and 1 yr old kids with their faces plastered against the glass on the side of the front door all grinning stupidly at me at the same time.
Wish I had a camera then.

And my son LOVES to get the best of his big sister,
especially at the dinner table when, for no reason,
he decides to stare at her and laugh like Horshack from Welcome Back Kotter.
Again, I wish my camcorder handy then.

He won't put his face against the glass anymore, since he tried to crawl through the glass and bumped his head. It's too bad I didn't get a picture of that, but at least he's a fast learner.

My daughter was always getting ahold of the toaster cozy and running around the house with it on her head, but the funniest thing was she would talk to her little stuffed dog Bobo and then she would answer herself back in his little voice. But the funny part was that she would talk in her sleep and every once in a while you would hear this little Bobo voice in the middle of the night - actually it was kind of unnerving at the time.

And what did Bobo say?

REDRUM! REDRUM!

Hahahahaha! I don't know if that's cute or scary! LMAO. There's a general rule for crazy- you're not crazy if you talk to yourself. You're only crazy if you answer.

Boki- you ever see Regis and Kelly? She talks about her son Joaquin all the time. She says he has this really deep voice so when he started talking she taught him to say "red rum." LOL.

That sound funny. I taught my daughter some choice lines when she started talking and got into some serious trouble for those efforts. I mean really, do you think it problematic for a toddler to suddenly say in a little tiny angel voice the words "Butt Nugget!" when you are having a semi-formal dinner with a group of friends from church?

I really don't know why everyone immediately looked at me....

I think Bill Waterson of Calvin and Hobbes fame said it best.

In one of his anthologies, there's a strip where Calvin is asking his dad where he came from. Dad makes some comments about department stores, and blue light specials, and Calvin freaks out.

This is accompanied by the caption from the author "I suspect there must be great temptation to misuse parental authority for practical jokes" :)

Do any of you watch Rodney? The funniest thing about that show is the jokes they play on their kids. They even made a comment about it on one episode. "What did we do for fun before we had kids?" Once they told their younger boy that Rodney was a superhero. The older boy told his brother there was a monster in the toilet, so the little one was sleep walking and peeing everywhere because he was afraid to go to the bathroom. So Rodney got a small alligator and put it in the toilet to get him back for scaring his brother. The pranks go on and on... I love that show. It's nice to see a family that actually loves each other.

Okay, so I don't have any kids, but I do have 5 god-daughters and 2 neices and one nephew, so I get to play!

I was going to have lunch with my friend Sharon and my god-daughter Megan (who at the time was 3) said "ohhhh Auntie, you look almost as beautiful as I do!"

I really love how little girls are so very humble.

When my son was around six and we were living in England enjoying the cultural sights, my son told me, "Mommy, you're almost as pretty as Britney Shakespeare!"

Of course, the comparison has lost some of its luster since then. :p

Ironically, that's a face Jakester makes quite often. He calls it his 'O' face. I wonder what that means? :smirks:

Ok, I want to play.

I put this in my blog but it's one of my favorites.

My daughter just lost her tooth about a week before, she was happy that the Tooth Fairy came and took her tooth, leaving her a buck. (BTW, what the heck is with inflation? I got a freaking quarter) Well one night she happened to find said tooth in a drawer and freaked out. She was upset that the Tooth Fairy left it. So thinking on my feet I said "The Tooth Fairy takes your tooth and gives you a dollar, but she gives the tooth to Mommy and Daddy because they want to remember how small you were"

She seemed fine with that explanation, but without missing a beat she asked me "Can we put it back under my pillow and get another dollar?"

I had to pause...it was a really good idea. We could totally scam the Tooth Fairy. Then I realized they were my dollars.

You aren't kidding about inflation! I remember getting a nickel for my first teeth, then quarters when I lost some of the last ones. My friend's kids (8, 10, and 13) tell me about their friends getting 5 DOLLARS for a tooth!

Anyways, I taught Sully how to make that noise where you "play" your lower lip. I don't know how to explain it properly... You take your finger and flap your lower lip with it. Plus, I've been teaching him to beat his chest and yell like Tarzan. LOL. No reading and Baby Einstein for my boy. I figured I'd better teach him all those things, so I don't get mad when someone else does. I had him sticking his tongue out and blowing raspberries at about 3 months.

He's just started pulling himself up on everything. I have to admit, it's terrifying!! Last week, Sully started shivering. Every once in a while, he'll look at me, shiver, then laugh. WTF is that?

He's developing his sense of humor. Just go with it.
Even go as far as mimicking his shivering, letting him know you get the joke.
He'll LOVE that.

That my dear is neurologic development. Same stuff as when they do a quick "shake" or "twitch" when they are falling asleep.

Little man's brain is testing out the little nerve firing connections it has developed.

I only know becuase my second son started doing it at about a year old - when he started walking. We took him to the doctor to make sure it wasn't like MS or something.

Saying things like that is going to make me paranoid. I just assumed he saw me do it, and is mimicing me, like everything else he does.
