Ashley, you're far braver than I. I have a whole bunch of medical related questions, but if your piercer knew what he/she was doing... well, more power to them!

But, dang!!!!

Not a darn thing, dude. It just goes through the extra skin there. Nothing is affected as far as I know. It doesn't hurt to swallow and, if I take it out, water or soda isn't going to come out of my neck. Two questions I get a lot.

I wouldn't think it would hurt to swallow or that you're going to get the "shot full of holes" effect like one sees in a cartoon. I was just kinda curious about the whole tracheal interference thing. Good to know that it's cool and mellow. And you're still braver than I. Then again, I'm scared to death of needles thanks to a doctor's incompetence when I was a kid, so...

Don't say I didn't warn you...

When I went in for my last booster shot as a kid, the doctor decided to give it to me himself, rather than having the nurse do it. He missed. So completely that I was screaming in pain as he pushed the entire length of a deep tissue needle into my arm, scraped it across a couple of nerves in my shoulder, and the actual bone of my scapella, itself. My mother had to be physically restrained by the nurse to keep her from killing the doctor. The nurse had told him "Doctor, you're not inserting the needle properly," but he didn't listen. So, he missed the muscle tissue he was supposed to inject the stuff into, and I ended up with what would have been a world class lawsuit if my mom had had the money to hire a lawyer or find one willing to take the case. As it was, I had a bruise on my arm for weeks and developed a severe phobia of needles.

Hurt like a mofo, that did.

DANG!! I think I would have somehow found the money for a lawyer! You could be RICH!

I got a shot of a painkiller in my bum once and it left a bruise for 8 days! A large bruise too. That doesn't compare to your problem but it still hurt! Same thing happened on my arm and other side of my bum! Stupid needles!

OUCH!.. worst I had was back in January there, was in hospital for a procedure, nurse was putting that tap into the back of my left hand, and managed to miss the vein twice. Ended up getting another nurse to put it into the back of the other hand. Needless to say the back of my hands were a bruised for a week.

It's pretty much like all piercings, it's all about your state of mind and how you're feeling. I've always found that with tattoos or piercings if I feel good and I'm in a good mood, it never really hurts all that much at all. Though, there have been times where I've just gotten out of an argument and I'm pissed off at someone... the time I got my eyebrow pierced hurt like hell, and I truly believe it was cause I was pissed off.

Otherwise, nah, it doesn't really hurt. It hurts a little less than accidentally biting your lip.

That doesn't sound so bad. Now, if only jobs would let me have one! I don't know what I'm going to do about this one in my neck. It will most likely cost me a few job opportunities.

Yeah that sucks that some jobs disapprove of piercings. A couple of tricks I have used or friends have is one buy a clear one, there are specific ones for occations to hide your piercings those can be hard to find and a little expensive. The other way is a simple band aid. much cheaper and jobs have rarely asked why the band aid. Hope these tricks are helpful for ya, but you probally know these you look like a piercing veterain.

Yeah, I've thought of both of those. Along with fishing line. I think a bandaid in the middle of my neck everyday would not only be annoying but nasty looking too! I might have to get clear ones for the tongue rings. In fact I think I might have some clear ones in my body jewelry box.

...Nope! Looks like I gave them all away!

Hey guys, can I convince you all to move this topic over to the No Topic? It just seems to strayed off-topic here, and rather than have it and the No Topic floating around, we can just compress it to one. Thanks.
