Weapon X

*Voodoo Child plays as Weapon X enters the arena*

Super-Puddy -
It's small, blurry, painty, and mismatched. The right arm looks like it came from a completely different picture altogether. Starting with a higher-resolution photo would be the first step to better manipping, but I suppose you work with what you can work with. I'll give you some credit though; Warburton's a choice I never considered.

Bang Babies -
"A cut & paste job." And how! Everything's just way too rough and rugged. Cleaner cutting would help, and an actual background instead of just a black slab would work well here.

Fallen Angel -
The source pictures are used well, and the effects are nicely done. I'd have never guessed that the Apocalypse head was a bust or that the hair wasn't originally yellow. I like the cold, icy, despairing feel this gives off.

Clark Kent -
It's Bizarro-Clark! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif Very cool drawing; it looks sort of a like a Japanese Clark, but it's all good. At first I thought it would look better without the black lines separating the colors, but now I think it gives the drawing more character.

Superman Movie Pt2 -
Good composition of characters and use of chiaroscuro. The outline of the Superman shield provides a nice figure-ground. My one complaint is that Supes' head is mismatched with the body, and the cast credits with the title logo. Still, it'd make a great promo banner.

Eric -
I must admit, it's a take on the character I've never seen before. It's dreary, it's emotional...I like it! The black teardrop is a very nice touch. It's also got sort of a Toulouse-Latrec (sp?) feel to it that looks great.

Shadow Cat -
Definitely one of the better "quick job" Shadowcats I've seen. Some just cut off her lower half and plaster the rest over a wall, but you've taken into consideration that some parts of her upper body are still inside the wall, and I like that.

Iron Man 2 -
Great design, but I miss the red and yellow. Great figure-ground relation, but the figure itself looks kinda pixelated from enlarging.

teaser poster -
I'm getting a little tired of this series. The logo is nice, but the colors in the background are ugly. Cloud renders really only work when the colors don't clash.

Foxxy -
Hey, she is kinda foxy! Must be the cat ears. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif Good job with the head-on-body melding, but the shirt looks too cartoony. Was the model originally wearing the shirt? 'Cause if you made the shirt the scratch, it definitely looks good.

Batman Teaser -
This would make a great banner to hang in a movie theater lobby. My one beef with this is that you can't quite tell it's Batman standing there. Even a sublte lighted outline of the cowl would seal the deal. Scarecrow looks awesome! Your own design?

James Marsden - Cyclops -
Very nice sketch! Reminds me of conceptual art for one of those mini-busts. Attention to stubble detail is cool. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/cool.gif

Devil in the Night -
Can't say much except that the colors wre well done here. They fit the mood of the picture.

The Sailor -
Now THIS is interesting! A Popeye graphic novel is definitely something I would pick up! The design, sketch, and coloring are awesome. Hands down my favorite of the day!

Witch Hunter Robin -
I haven't seen this anime, but this poster is quite cool. It's short, sweet, and to the point. And I'll admit, I do have a thing for demonic chicks. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Well, since the last one on the list, I'll leave that one for the rest of you. That said, I'm off...No, don't worry, I'll see myself out...

*WX doesn't bother with the door and just bursts through the wall in a shower of debris*

It's really hard to find a decent pic of warburton on the net. There are about 2 out there and the other one shoould come up in the gallery soon. Oh, by the way, the right arm is from the same pic.

Yeah, I know... the shirt is looking really strange? but I painted over nothing, the original model was using a completely different top, and because she had long hair, I had to do something to mask it. And it is not cat?s ears? it is fox?s ears.

Damn, good update. If I didn't still need to finish lab reports for tomorrow, I would UIR. Want to do one for Firday and maybe Monday too. Damn MGS2 break taking too long.

Anyway, just wanna say to whoever did the Witch Hunter Robin pic... I hate you for beating me and being first. j/k. You rule. Very nice pic, especially for a first one. Though she looks a bit too creepy, but I've only seen up to ep 8.

Not that I had one in the works anyway, but gosh damn that anime is the joyful bane of my existance and I wish I had done one. As I reported in my Anime Boston thread in the Anime Forum, that was THE anime of the con for me. I'm waiting to get a copy from a friend so i can finish seeing it. (Though I'm still buying as soon as it's out, Bandai!)

Gosh damn, now I need to make a WHR one myself. Hey, no one's done Hellsing or Read or Die yet, right? Dang, barely started those. Dang i gotta manip again...

more later... I hope...

Amen! At least serious and non-Tick photos. This would be one of the reasons I never finished any manips of Powers. I thought he'd play a good Walker, so I looked up dramatic roles for him. He doesn't have many, so not many pics. Never got the few i did find to do anything.

I probably shouldn't give away my secret net stash of images and just let you guys wonder if I know all these stars or have some mega contact,... But as we're all friends here, you might want to check out:

or
http://www.imdb.com

The images are not always large, but there are usually several to chose from. Happy maniping.

The Sailor by Fearilla

I have high hopes for this project. A serious, honest treatment of The Popeye is long, long overdue, as we're all still smarting from Altman's painfully marginalizing approach to the material.

Please don't screw this up, Fearilla.

damn, damn, damn, and damn....i just had a full UIR and hit the wrong link. i'll redo it but in shorter fashion...sorry folks, my bitchiness will be confined to shorter sentences today.

super puddy: his forward arm is deformed. the lines are not straight. painty.

bang babies: at least try.

fallen angel. nice blues. great concept. nice overall look, the tattered edges are very nice.

clark kent: neat experiment, it's an interesting abstract.

superman movie: that line around nic's face is still there.

eric: i remember when all i saw from you was buxom babes. nice artistic stuff.

shadow cat: clean up the edges. nice phase effect. unnatural pose....her left arm...the bicep is phased but the elsow is visible...try this in real life, very difficult, if not impossible.

iron man2: seems blurry. still nice, but the piece yester day was more crisp.

teaser poster: clouds are a bad idea, a flat black would look better.

foxxy: more subtle shading. her left ear looks fine, the right ear looks cut and paste.

also i can't agree with your comments on Calklais as far as an example to the rest of us. if i used him as an example my work would never improve. Sure the guy has 7 pages of work, but there is no progression. no study of anatomy, perspectives, lines, etc. it never changes. i'm sure he has heart and desire, and has dreams to achieve. So do I, and those dreams propel me to constantly improve my work, seek other avenues of design, listen to criticism, etc.

oh yeah, didn't foxxy have a tail.

batman teaser: it's nice. very plain, could use something to spice it up. clean up the black edges around the scarecrow mask.

james marsden: very impressive...nice detail.

devil in the kinght: moon knight, that brings back memories. nice piece, shading looks fine.

the sailor: i hate popeye, but i actually could like this version.

witch hunter: was this done in poser? nice ambiebnt light effect.

x3: wow! beautiful flames. nice costume design. my only complaint is the torso, it looks like she got twisted. still beautiful work, fav pic of the day.

i remember all your stuff i used to uir was super hot chicks, some of which were well endowed (buxom). i like super hot chicks, this is just a departure from what i've seen from you before. shows great versatility in your art skills and what you are capable of.

OK, got buncha lab reports to do, just woke up, so I’ll UIR to get going.

Super-puddy by joker21 - Yeah, the sammll source is understandable. Then again maybe you could have done a background. Also the costume does look too opaque and painted on. Though I admit I’m not too good at painting on spandex myself.

Bang Babies by loserkid292 - First definitely suggest a better program. I dunno what’s available for cheap or free though, but this looks almost like paint. You really need to blend in the photos and effects and titles more. As for the concept, I dunno Static Shock too well, but I get it.

Fallen Angel by localhero - Even considering the source pic already had a lot too it, there was obviously a good deal or work done on it too. The coloring and dying of the hair was well done. Apacalypse was blended nicely and the textures and effects were a nice touch.

Clark Kent by Spiderman620815 - Kinda cool. The extra lines kinda make it look weird, but in a cool way. Kinda like a stained glass window or Brian Stillfreeze by way of Picasso style.

Superman Movie Pt2 by Kombat Wombat - Arrgh. I’m sorry but Cage still seems like horrible casting for Superman. It’s not that he’s bad looking, but he’s too homely looking for Superman. While his fae is blended decently with the Ross art, he just doesn’t look right for the role.

Eric by Chicoceniza - I dunno how to describe it, but I like the style. Plus I still can’t believe I haven’t seen the Crow movies.

Shadow Cat by dragon_lady - Well, I don’t think you made the right parts go tino the wall. I suggest the pose should have the arms going out not in. Here, a straight part of her arm would have to be curved to move in 3d like that. This pose has her arms going flat against the wall, not moving forward out of it.

Iron Man 2 by Tokyo_Bastard His head is a bit too egg shaped and I need some Red with the gold, but other than that I like the design.

Teaser Poster by superace - Ok.. it’s the Alex Ross logo pasted on a badly colored Photoshop filter. Plus I don’t get why people are suggesting the KC logo for the Supes movie.

Foxxy by EvilOz - Ahhh! Furries! Run away, run away!

Batman Teaser by sabbath86 - The best thing about this is Scarecrow’s face. Looks great. Though it is kinda just floating there. Could use some blending in. Plus maybe more a head shot of Batman. The logo and slogan could also belnd in more.

James Marsden - Cyclops by Count Enance - Nice sketch and likeness.

Devil In The Knight by Cinnder - Pretty good coloring. I like the blue in the bg.

The Sailor by Fearilla - Cool idea. Good luck with it. As for the art, I really like the style and kinda jaggy lines. Even when there’s a thicker outlike ther’s still kinda a jagged quality. I really like it. Plus I really like the lines for coloring it.

Witch Hunter Robin Teaser Poster by Juliechan27 - Very nice. Got it as my wallpaper now and wish there was a larger verion. I’m wondering what the base pic was. My only nit pick is the date since it’s kinda a pipe dream that WHR will be a movie and the date is a little too real world. But that’s just a nit pick. Anyway, in the pipe dream, if she was a teen or even early 20s, I would see a young Nicole Kidman as Robin. Plus I gotta say I prefer a cuter and nicer image of Robin. Only seen 8 eps and I never saw her this creepy looking. Though the lighting is very cool.

X3: Rise Of The Phoenix by Weapon X - Really nice. Like the design, drawing and coloring. Plus this just looks like one of your better works period. As for the outfit, not only is it kinda medieval, but it also looks like something a goddess would wear. My only complaint is the waist looks a bit skinny or off. Could the material too though.

hello http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
i'm new here. sorry i didn't reply earlier, i was in europe for a while ><

i did the WHR poster, thanks for the kind words and tips! I don't really do photoshop stuff or anything like the people do here, i just play around with cosplay pictures on photoshop sometimes. i really have no idea what i'm doing, i just use the 'swishy brush' here, and the 'text thingie' there, and 'variation colory things' until it looks alright.
i was thinking about cosplaying as Robin, and my friend had just showed me a NGE teaser poster and a lot of people thought it was for real. So i just wanted to see if i could scare/fool some of my buddies into thinking that a WHR movie was really coming out. hehehe i do look pretty creepy looking (it didn't start off that way i swear!^^; )
one of my buddies told me to put the picture on this site so um...yeah. here i am. there were other variations, but i think this one was the most vague and "teaser-y".

i think WHR may be able to make it, if it were made as a movie. although it would probablly be hard to cast someone for robin since she is 15, but she acts so quiet and reserved that she appears much older.

but anyhoo! what a cool concept! your guys' art is great!
