So I was looking back at old theme day artwork and I noticed how theme days have become largely more niche-targeted and resultingly less participated in. Are there any theme days where we had a strong participation that people would like to revisit (perhaps with a new twist)? Some of the ones I can remember: Humor, Partner Collaboration, X-Mas in July, movie poster (of a comic not currently in c2f development), magazine...

Hmm, what else? Anybody else interested in revisiting a theme day? maybe the theme days with the most votes get sequelized?

I'd love to revisit some old Theme Days. The only one I can vouch for is X-Mas in July, which Kev, if you've noticed, it's not July just yet http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif, but you needn't worry, I fully intend to create an X-Mas in July when the time is right.

The newbie/oldie collaboration worked well with me an' StrangeFish.

The difference in doing it now is the semi-retirement of some of us oldies, plus that last year's newbies are this year's oldies!

I'm up for a sequel. Things like Books2Film or VideoGames2Film, the stuff that doesn't get represented much in the usual updates, thems could be good. The Magazine cover one was cool as well, again cos it was something different.

Or I've often thought about doing a theme day for people who missed theme days but wanted to post their pic anyway.

Of course Kev, Essex, Zac, Xenos, BXL and Marcelo know all about theme day sequels...

Is this thing happening?? Collaboration would be cool. I also enjoyed the transgender and second rate supervillain theme days. Videogames2film sounds good too. So many possibilies!! So little time!! AAGH!!

Hey guys,

I'm definitely a newbie. School should be done in a couple of weeks, so I hope something gets finalized. I'm eager to get into this manipulation thing....It's my first time, please be gentle.
Thanks
Dean

I still feel like a newbie! If we did this.. could I still be the newbie?

miss jellybrain, we just have to decide which one(s) have the most interest. i'd hate to flood the dcg with 2-piece theme days. if all the people who are willing to participate are in this thread, well...

Depends on what the theme day is. Some of my favorite theme days of old were:

VideoGames2Film
Magazines
Partner Collaberations
Books2Film
Disney (perhaps if we expanded this one somehow...)
Gender-Bender or whatever

I vote for collaboration or magazine.

Here's the tallies of the possible sequels so far. (We've also got a few non-specific calls for sequels too):
1 Humor
1 Movie Poster (not currently in development)
1 Missed Theme Days
1 Transgender
1 Second Rate Supervillian
1 Disney
2 Books2Film
2 Videogames2Film
3 Partner Collaboration
4 Magazine
5 Olbie/Newbie

DZ has already promised X-Mas in July so we don't have to worry about that...

Transgender? People do that all the time, even without a theme day (myself included, though everyone thought it was a seperate character).

What's the "Magazine Theme Day" about?

And do we need a Movie Poster Theme Day? Don't we see those in the DCG every day?

For the Magazine Theme Day, all participants put comic characters on real magazines, that could somehow fit their personality.

I vote for that one.

I'd probably do the magazine one again. I could do better I'm sure this time.

What's the difference between collaboration and oldie/newbie?

kev_incal
05-29-2003, 01:01 PM
they're similar laracroft, except collaboration opens up the possibility of oldie/oldie or newbie/newbie. i think collaboration is more for artists who just want to work together while the newbie/oldie art might also contain the theme of older/newer (like Superman and Superboy for example).

and frostbite and DKHood, the point of the theme day sequels isn't necessarily to only do themes that we don't normally do, its about finding theme days that were really popular and would garner more participation in.

Disney was a really cool theme day... me like the idea of a sequel. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Personally I enjoyed all the theme days i got involved in and would do them again in a minute... but I particularly liked the DCG Redo day we had, where we got the chance to do our own take on a pic previously submitted to the gallery by another artist. Any thoughts on doing that again?

Being one of the newer artists, I'd really like to do a colaberation day so I could get to know & work with some of the other artists. Is there anyone else out there who'd like to do this? I think it would be fun. If there's support I'll organize it or whatever. Anyone, anyone at all?

Anyone remember the 'Swimsuit Day' last year? Someone (*cough, KEV *cough*) should start that up in honor of Summer this year!

And every one of them would star us! Right? Right?

Anyways, I'd probably enter both theme days(swimsuit and magazine/newspaper/whatever)
