Here's a thread for someday, BTW... what do y'all think the best pieces by particular artist(s) are?

OK. I think this would fit well here. I've been hoping something like this would come along cuz I've been wondering what others thought was my best piece.

So since it was B's idea:

I'd have to say I like your Blink the best. It's just very well done overall and looks like it all fits together. Sometimes when Frankenstiening it looks like that's exactly what's been done. This piece blends it together well.

I think your recent Gotham's Most Wanted is your best pic so far, trekkie. It's got a nice, indie comic feel to it and the style worked well for the image. I really liked it. Kinda makes me think this is what it would look like if Daniel Clowes drew Batman.

My fav pic of B's is definitely Dead Girl. That's just a really great pic and I love it http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Thanks, and glad you like it. And look forward to the next update cuz I've got another one done in the same style. Thanks again.

Speaking of updates; are we ever going to see this pic that you've been working on? It can't be better than your Sinister picture(which is my favorite of yours BTW).

Well, that's how big this pic is...it takes FOREVER to work on! It's very intricate, with more details than I've ever worked on.

Coincidentally, it involves Sinister as well. And yes, it will be better than the other pic you mentioned http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Hey hey, now, let's keep on topic!

Now, ahem... Yes, for everyone who's been here less than a year, I am a DCG artist. I've kinda been missin' the old thing, so I thought I'd pop my head in here a little more like old times.

Since I'm a relative old-timer, I thought I'd go back and find my favorites of fellow old-timers. :P Not surprising, those who've kept going seem to have gotten even better since I drifted away.

Essex: I'm eternally fond of your Batman rogues, probably Scarecrow most of all, but damn does your recent work rock! I love the new Sinister as I too have wanted to see a new attempt at your old design, but as far as your best work goes, I'll have to say Elektra Lives (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=11127). That's probably the single best clothwork I've seen in a manip. Not only do the textures and lighting seem right on the money (although maaaaybe the shadow should be running a different way) but it made great use of visual space and pose as well (which is why it beat out your equally stunning manip work on Venom).

Darth Zaiyen:
Hmm... I'm tempted to go with your 'Inhuman' X-Mas gift for Kev, but your recent Don't Feed the Croc (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=13140) is pretty impressive. I'm glad you took Mike's advice, because it's a pretty solid picture. The only stretch, I think, is believing they'd allow him to keep his cell in that condition. It's called sedation! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif Your Days of Future cover is pretty good for such an old pic, though. If you'd cleaned up some of the pixelation in the logo it'd be damn snazzy.

Welshcat: Guessing from how many years you've had invested in it, I bet you'll like hearing this one: Casino Fatale (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=7970). The detail-oriented person you are, the major sticking point with a lot (if any) of your work is that it's almost too busy. This one has great detail too, but the composition keeps it under control. Framing it with the roulette numbers really brings attention into the characters. I was close to choosing your Bullseye/Elektra (perhaps in part to my partiality of the characters) if it'd felt a little more kinetic... But this isn't a UIR. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif It looks great too.

Are there any other old-timers around? I like this thread and will try to get to some more recent artists sometime this week. If nobody's seen my work, I'd love for you to look it up and gimme your 2¢.

Hey, I wanted to start this thread! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

First off, thanks for the compliments, trekkie, Essex. I personally (as I've said) would agree that Dead Girl's my best manip so far. None of my drawings have shown up yet, but I really like the latest one I've uploaded to the queue. (Though it won't show for probably a week or two. :P )

Just a few right now...

trekkie: I'd have to agree with Essex that Gotham's Most Wanted is your best work to date. Freeze, Scarecrow and Penguin look paricularly good.

Thom: Hi! I'm new, but I have taken a look at your work. And since you asked, old man... http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif I think your Dark Knight Returns manip is your best work. Really, really good job. The lighting is awesome, and the capes look great (easier said than done, that.)

Welshcat: Um... everything? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif I don't think you've ever done a piece of art I've even remotely disliked... I think my favourite is your recent Elektra pic. Wonderful textures (especially that amazing silk), great details (as usual), that beautiful background... Casino Fatale is really awesome too, though, and probably objectively better.

Essex: I agree with Thom that all your recent work is particularly great. I think your Venom's my favourite: great manip work, pose and lighting. Man, I wish I could do lighting that well. Your Elektra's also incredible, and I quite like Xorn too.

Darth Zaiyen: I really love your Arkham Asylum series. I think the Scarecrow's my favourite (perfect casting, BTW), but they're all great.

kev_incal: Lots to choose from here. Ye Gods, you're prolific... Due in part to personal bias, I'd say your Violet pic's my favourite--one of my favourite Legionnaires, really beautifully manipped. All your Legion work is great, however, as is your X2 stuff. I think Siryn's my favourite in the later category.

Lady D: And I said Kevin was prolific... Your Ultimate Rogue is great. Great costuming and background and easily the best Poser work I have ever seen. The Death of the Future is also wonderful.

Uh... that's all for now. More later, hopefully. Now, I need sleep.

I liked Thom's Jubilee piece for contest 3.

And all of Serayala's stuff... no idea where he's left to.
Also Dodgy and Essex, of course.
