View Full Version : Robbo appreciation thread
I think it's in order that we should have a thread in appreciation of Robbo for all he's done. I know there was one a while back, but there can never be too many, and it's quite appropriate right now.
I know many here in the DCG might've just come to the site for the pictures, but I know that I also came to read the news and all the latest scoops. That was the first thing I did here before even knowing of the existence of the DCG, way back when.
So Robbo, thanks for all the effort and hard work put into this site and into gathering up all the daily news and making it look like it was easy. I'm sure it wasn't. You and your chrome dome will be missed here.

I would just like to say thanks to Robbo for all he has done for this site. After all with out Robbo there would be no C2F. He has done alot and has giving everyone a place to put their art, read some info on films and just learn and meet new folks.
Thanks Robbo for all you have done. Please don't be a stranger.

Thanks so much. Building C2F from nothing into what it is today has been a great journey for me. The DCG is definitely one of the crown jewels of the site and I'm just happy to see this great community of fans helping each other out.

i read your article and farewell on sunday. i was shocked.
i just want to thank you for the site as a whole. this was the first movie site i visited, and you started my addiction to movie news, i guess i can thank you/blame you.
this site has always been a great site. it beats the absurdity of AICN, consistently updates more than DarkHorizons, and back in the day of Coming Attractions/Cinescape you provided a specific realm for comic book movie news.
i started checking out the DCG and i then was hooked on manipping, again i can blame you/thank you for that addiction.
i understand the frustration and dedication that a site like this takes......and really must thank you for maintaining this site.
it gives us artists a place to have our work viewed by thousands/millions of viewers. the site gives me a chance to interact with others who have similar intersts in comics.
Robbo, thank you.

Thanks for everything Robbo,
I’ve met some of my closest friends through this site and I appreciate the fact that without you it wouldn’t have been possible. The DCG has been part of my life for the last 2 years or so now, and it’s really opened my eyes to a new art form.
Thanks for the memories, Robbo!
I've only been posting stuff a few months, (though I'd dropped by the DCG before a few times), but in that time I've definitely grown to appreciate the site and the great people on it. This was actually the first audience to make me feel manipping was worthwhile--I'd done it before and posted it here and there but had never got much response. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/frown.gif After that, the DCG was an amazing experience. The C2F community is one of the best on the web, and I'm eternally greatful that your site introduced me to it.
I'll admit I mostly check out the DCG, but I always try to keep up on the latest movie news and scoops, and this is one of the top sites for it. Particularly, it always was the best site to look for medium-specific news, and as a life long comics fan, that was always greatly appreciated.
So, in conclusion: Cheers, mate. Thanks for the site, thanks for giving us artists an outlet for our talents, thanks--in short--for everything. All the best in all your future endeavours!

Robbo,
You were one of the first people I met when I got online, and C2F was one of the first sites I visited. You helped me discover and hone my photomanipulation hobby, and gave me encouragement to improve and expand my visions. It's odd calling someone I've never met in person a friend, but you certainly have been that to me. I've talked with some great people here, and your presence will most definitely be missed. Congratulations and the best of luck on your new endeavors. Your fortitude and talent are sure to carry you far.
And, in case I never said it, thank you for C2F, and for being such a good friend. Take care of yourself. Live long and prosper.

omg... I can't believe you're leaving, I JUST now read the article!
Wow... how weird, C2F w/o Robbo? I know you stepped off the reins for a while now, but still so odd...
Well, w/o C2F, I don't know where I would be, and I really mean that. It helped me develop my art a lot.
Thanks for the hard work you put into it, and I shall see you at the cons!

Enough of these fond wishes! DON'T LEAVE ME ROBBBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! ...no...? not working. BAh! in which case, I'll once again state that Robbo rocks. It's rare that you find someone that is bombarded with stress all day and yet is still polite and friendly. Possibly more amazing is that Robbo, or the Robster if you will, seems to have found time to befriend a good number of us on this site. Let me be the first (or maybe 12th ) to say that I'm proud to be his friend.

bah, that doesn't count, that's just speculated ideas. I want to see a real picture of him, it would be nice to see what our great leader looks like.
Remember Home Improvement, Tim Allen's neighbor never showed his face. Same with robbo all these years, and of corse, curiosity killed the mullet. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

But you know, he's not going to move to the North Pole, sitting around making toys all day, with no computer access.
He's not doing the news anymore, but he'll still be around! Right? He'll still be our Santa Claus, with a mysterious half a face. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

Hmm, so Robbo is leaving us.
Wow. It truly is, as they say, the end of an error.
I remember discovering this site back in the spring/summer of 1999 when I was first getting into the 'net and finding as much info as I could about Comic Book Movies, past and present.
I was particularly attracted to the Fan Art Gallery as it was then, but, like my favourite scene-stealing tabby says, the news was just as important to me.
C2F is still (one of) the first websites I look at every day, and I am proud to say that it has been a home to my artistic exploits over the past few years.
I hope it will be for as long as I want.
Good luck Robbo, and Thank You

You guys are awesome!
Thansk for all the good wishes.
But I also just wanted to jump in and say I'm not actually dying or anything. I'm not even really LEAVING. I'm just not writing the news any more.
I'll still be around the site and these boards.
Heck. I'll probably have more time to post than I used to!

He's built the kingdom and now he will live amongst the peasants! Like Jesus, almost, but without all the religious aspects and the fish replicating!

As a LTRFTW (long time reader, first time writer) I'll kick in my thanks just for all of the questions Robbo has answered without even knowing. Many of us read news and boards but don't post; we're out there and invisible, but appreciative.

Reading this site, interacting with all of you, getting a constantly improving website under the constant watchfull eye of Robbo...has been one of the most enriching parts of my internet life the past 3 years.
Mr Whorley, you are most appreciated, and you will be sorely missed!

Rob. Maaaan. S'gonna be weird. But... but... GAH!
I remember the OOOOLLLD days of the Worley Wide Web. I think I still have the link on one of my old computers. We've talked about that. One of the first sites I visited. (Train of thought post... can y'tell?)
You're a bud, bud. A friend. You gave a crap at a time when... well.. you know when...
But this could be good news! Maybe we'll all have a friend in the comics biz, y'know? Maybe, in a few years we'll be like the guys that are now saying: "Yeah... that Bendis guy... punk... three name geek... what's up with that? Thinks he's so frickin' cool now." Heh. I can see it now!
"Yeah... that Rob Worley guy... I remember when he wouldn't even show his damn face in public! goofball."
Good times... good times.
Hey... I wish you all the luck in the world and all the time in the world... I know that's what you have been looking for.
If y'ever need me, call.
The offer of a couch is still open. Mrs. Sticks is just as shocked as I was when we read the news, but, as always, she was the voice of reason. Lemme know when you're coming down... I'll mow the lawn.
Pax, brother.

Hey yeah, Rob... When you have a little letters column like Bendis does, or when Wizard posts your picture, for the first year or so, you should request that they obscure the bottom half of your face... Just for us. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif
