i'll help the ball roll.
i'm just going to say that Ed Hopkins is the man. what a cool looking cartoon. i love the whole thing. here i am beating myself up working on a fastball special gif, and he is whipping out gifs like they are nothing (your she hulk was very good btw). this reminds me of superman on the old atari, except better. good work ed, truly making me want to get off my ass and finish my gif.
more later.

*cracks knuckles* UIR time...
CYKE's WALL
cool concept, though i've come to expect more from you. of all the costumes, i like the marvel girl one the best, i like how you've done the mask.
BIRTH OF SILVER SURFER
this is pretty cool, cept its kind of blurry. maybe using less lens flares would make it more eaiser on the eyes.
ARCH/ANGEL
i'm pretty happy with this one, the archangel costume was a bit tricky because of the pose but it turned out ok. wha bugs me though is the bleed between the blue and purple, but i'll live.
JOKER
man, he looks pretty crazy. you got the look alright, but maybe a bit more effort on "colouring in the lines" (hehe) would make it look better.
LXG
nice movie poster concept. its simple but effective. what does "RP" stand for btw? i know just about nothing when it comes to LXG.
BEETLE
nice work on the costume, the design on the chest looks real. the only problem i have with it is that its really blurry (or my crappy eyesight).
DESTRUCTION
i cant really see what you've done to this pic, apart from the background, but maybe that's how its supposed to look? i don't know of the character so no complaints here
ANGEL
one of my fave. characters. the costumes look great, but the face on angel looks like its been run under the SHARPEN filter a couple of times, or maybe it was a crappy base image. either way, it looks cool.
JOKER
man, dafoe certainly looks the part in this manip. he has a devilish innocence in this pic which is really good. good work!
NIGHT OF THE SENTINALS
congratulations on getting this one done, it looks cool. it must've been hard to find the right poses etc, so good job on getting them. the figures look a bit suspended, but from what you've got you've done a good job.
BATMAN 1989
how many black pencils did you go through to finish this one?! i love the darkness to this pic, keep it up.
PHOENIX RISING
certainly was a quickie, but the fire effects you came up work well. maybe making the base pic more vibrant (CONTRAST or LEVELS maybe?) would make it look better.
APHRODITE
excellent job on the costume. if i hadn't read the art notes i would've thought most of it was real.
WONDER GIRL
looks cool, cept it reminds of of those barbie colouring books :/. i think i'm used to the anime style where they use minimal lines. good work.
and that's that

Thanks. Don't feel bad about your fastball special, as I said in the art notes I made that cartoon before I even heard of C2F. I usually takes me a while to make a gif. The hard part is keeping the file size down, which is why Image Ready is so helpful.

apologies go to ed hopkins, i forgot to UIR your gif. i remember checking it out earlier in the day before i did the UIR and thought it was bloody awesome.
its really cool, almost like an old nintendo game, though i think someone's used that comparison before.
anyways, good stuff!

Ok, nice job to everyone, there were a few that I particularly liked, but then, I am simply a spectator, I have no idea what goes on behind the work involved.
To start there is Scott's Wall: I like the fact that Scott's reflection is in the glass. Like he is contemplating the pictures of his favorite girl mutant. Love the Marvel Girl costume the best I think. Well done.
Next is Arch/Angel by Loki: I don't know who the guy is, but well done over all. I am a huge fan of Angel and this one really captures what I believe is the true essence of his split concerns. The Costumes look beautiful.
On we go to LXG II: I have yet to see the movie, but this poster is nicely done. No seems and I like the pics of Jack and Fredrick. Funny thing is, both characters are the same actor, thus they are both you. BTW RP is Role Playing.
I want to skip down to Pic Redo: I haven't seen the original yet, but this is very nice as well. I would have to say if I didn't know this was a Manip, I would have thought those clothes belonged on her. Beautiful.
Wonder Girl: Although remenicent of Barbie, a very nice artwork. Didn't know anything about the Young Justice, and didn't think of Wonder Girl as having blonde hair.... Ah! well..... nice.
OK ok ok, been saving the best for last. Local Hero: I love your work. I love Brian Gaskill, and I knew I was right in thinking he would do well as Angel. What can I say, a work of art! thank you for filling the request so well. Look forward to seeing more of your work.
That's about all I can say for now. Love coming and looking at all the art work, it brings the characters that I know and love to blinding life. Will be watching to see what other Characters and Creations you guys and gals can come up with!

Ok time to do this for the second time probally going to be short with many of you because I m annoied that I already did this.
Costume: Scott's Wall
by Ed Hopkins:
Very nice job have to agree that the Marvel Girl looks the best and great job on the reflection.
And Thus The Surfer Was Born!
by dark angel:
Great job nice details.
Costume: Arch/angel
by loki:
I really like this one.The wings on Arch Angel, I like.
Willem Dafoe As The Joker
by joker21:
Its a decent color job, but why the green teeth?
Lxg Ii: Pirate Crazies And Serial Killer Woes. by RemyBeaulieu;
Nice work, the pictures blend in to the poster nicely.
Blue Suede Beetle
by Kombat Wombat:
Ha its Elvis nice job must I must ask Why?
Destruction
by lenore_deloncre:
The edges of him could be smoothed out/cut out better so he blends in more. The wall looks a bit flat as well.
Costume: A Portrait Of An Angel
by localhero;
Great job as always.
Joker
by Sonic1002:
He's skin is too grey. Its good casting but Jack will always bee the king.
Night Of The Sentinels
by Amy Karas:
This one is just GREAT. The work you had to have put in awesome job. Gambit looks great good pose for him as well. All I have to add is the flames could use some work thats it.
Batman 1989
by OhmanArt:
At first I saw this and thought why the hell is this front page, but then I read the notes and was in awe couldnt believe that that was a drawing exalent job.
Phoenix Rising
by tenchichan:
The base pic is of poor quality and the flames look more like gold streams, but its a quicky so I guess it ok.
Batman: Animated Gif
by ali786:
Great dark knight feel to this, nice.
Pic Redo: Yet Another Aphrodite...
by Daniel Zarco:
Nice redo the skirt looks little to much like plastic.
Superman Cartoon
by Ed Hopkins :
When I first watched this I thought WW was doing something else http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/rolleyes.gif Great toon though had to have taken a while.
Cancelled Series - Wonder Girl
by MilleniumBum:
Has a very nice crisp clean feeling to it I like.
BOOM and I m done for the second time.

For those who had trouble making out what was happening, here's a synopsis:
Clark changes to Superman, flies away
Flies into open window of tall building (note moving cars in street)
Uses x-ray vision to see bound and powerless Wonder Woman being punched by an escaped convict
Breaks down door and warms up his heat-vision
Burns away ropes holding WW's wrists allowing her to clobber her attacker and free her own legs.
Receives smooches of gratitude from WW.
What did you think was going on?

Actually, I thought she was doing a striptease at first, but then I realized what was happening and it all made sense. I agree with everyone else, great cartoon. You have a gift for direction Ed.

I used to UIR on days I was in the gallery but then I worried people might think those were the only days I looked at the art. I also worried that if I gave a critical review people would think I was saying my stuff was better than theirs.
But Amy has a point that UIR's are down and we all need to pitch in. I will try to make it a rule that I will UIR the day AFTER I'm in the DCG.

scott's wall: nice reflection. i like the marvel girl pic. nice details.
surfer was born: i like it...but i don't think the colors really pop. the yellow looks a little blah. i really like the design and the whole view.
archangel: looks good. i like the castumes, they look good. i'm not sold on the red and black clouds and the white thing in the middle, but all in all good work.
willem dafoe: i think the other one looked better. i still see flesh bleeding thru, eyebrows are painty, and why the green teeth. nice color on the suit.
lxg2: i would have gone with a duotone or tritone adjustment on all of the characters. it's nice, maybe some broader heavier text in the description areas up above.
blue suede beetle: coming this christmas, action elvis. anyway. nice manip, hard to tell this was an action figure until you look at the hands.
destruction: i think he looks like he is sitting. i would soften the edges of the selectino a little. he obviously has a light source hitting him from top left, i would have moved the sunrise to match.
angel: nice recolor of the original pic...i just don't dig that pose. oh well. i like the painting on the wall, the shadow is a nice touch. maybe teture the wall a touch more.
joker: terrible image choice. pixely and blurry, try one of my tutorials. nice looking recolor.
night of the sentinels: wow, the thumbnail does this no justice. nice work, i think rogure and gambit stand out as the best characters. i like the whole scene. nice work on taking on such a huge manip. the power blasts for me are a little to "solid" but really great work.
batman: good work as always. love the rubbery shine on the abs.
phoenix rising: seems a little too much. little smudgy and solid for flame. nice attempt.
batman animated gif: i have to get off my ass and do my fastball special gif...it's official. really great work. i like the flow to the cape.
pic redo: wow! nice work. i like the bottom dress thingy. really looks to be sitting off of her. great arms, nice rubberized look.
superman: refer to earlier comments. again, great work.
wondergirl: looks great. i like the pants....nice texture. nice subtle abs on her as well. nice job on everything, really no complaints.

I just want to thank you guys for the positive feedback on my pic and for taking heed to my gripe, lol. I just wanted to point out that more people should make an effort to UIR especially when they like to read them. And I will not be a hypocrite! I've got to go out quick, but I'll review in an hour or two. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/bamf.gif

Okay, I'm back all. On to the UIR...
Costume: Scott's Wall by Ed Hopkins- Interesting choice of costumes! I completely forgot about her X-Factor days!
And Thus The Surfer Was Born! by dark angel-Good base drawing! The coloring is also well done. Maybe adding a chrome effect to the Surfer would help? But I'm not sure how that would come out. I really like your pic though. Galactus looks like one tough cookie.
Costume: Arch/angel by loki- I really like "Arch" in this picture! He looks really cool. The wings look a little flat, though, so I would suggest some type of filter. Hmm... let's see. Marcelo had a tutorial about metal that was good, but I rarely have that much patience. Maybe a chrome or embossing effect?
Willem Dafoe As The Joker by joker21- That's really scary, lol. I love the color of his hair (very suited for Polaris, don't ya think?). You missed a strand though so I would maybe recolor the brown. Other than that, very cool!
Lxg Ii: Pirate Crazies And Serial Killer Woes. by RemyBeaulieu- Johnny! You can't help but love a pic with Mr. Depp in it!
Blue Suede Beetle by Kombat Wombat- Seems a bit over saturated. I like the belt.
Destruction by lenore_deloncre- I like the background. The edges look like they could use a little cleaning up.
Costume: A Portrait Of An Angel by localhero- I love the way the costumes came out!!! Nice work!
Joker by Sonic1002- Today it seems there is an underground conspiracy to place Willem as Gotham's finest. Hmm...
Night Of The Sentinels by Amy Karas- (mine)
Batman 1989 by OhmanArt- Excellent work! 'Nuff said!
Phoenix Rising by tenchichan- I love the golden flame effect! I would have enhanced the base pic though because it falls a little flat.
Batman: Animated Gif by ali786- I love these animated gifs!
Pic Redo: Yet Another Aphrodite... by Daniel Zarco- Oh, Daniel!!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!! I love the armbands. (Can you teach me how to do that?) This I believe was front page material.
Superman Cartoon by Ed Hopkins- Lol, cool!!! This is so incredibly awesome it's beyond words. Do you have anymore of these??? *must see more*
Cancelled Series - Wonder Girl by MilleniumBum- I'm so happy to see you back in the DCG, Paul! You've always been one of my favorite artists, and this picture proves why. The coloring is perfect. I see no problems. Always, a great job!
Miss Jellybrain
09-06-2003, 03:35 AM
Bah! Why did I miss this theme day? *thinks about Black Canary's godawful 80's disco costume* Hmmmm.
COSTUME: Scott's Wall by Ed Hopkins
Great concept. I like the Marvel girl costume best as well, the mask is awesome. Like the Xenia Onatopp one too.
and thus the surfer was born! by dark angel
Cool drawing and nice layout, but the colors are messy. The yellow glow around Surfer isn't effecting anything, it should be reflecting from his skin.
COSTUME: Arch/angel by loki
Nice costumes, especially the red one. But I think that a less saturated background would do them better justice.
Willem Dafoe as The Joker by joker21
Better than your previous Jokers, but you could add some makeup and do something to his hair rather than just recoloring everything. I like the casting, Dafoe is one of the creepiest looking people ever and that's a compliment).
LXG II: Pirate Crazies and Serial Killer Woes. by RemyBeaulieu
Well it has Johnny Depp. Two of them. Maybe you could sneak Eddie Scissorshands in? I'm sure your RP friends wouldn't mind....
Blue Suede Beetle by Kombat Wombat
If only you were sane....
Destruction by lenore_deloncre
Pretty cut'n'paste, and I really couldn't tell it's destruction if I didn't know.
COSTUME: A Portrait of an Angel by localhero
Great coustumes, but the photorealistic red one kinda clashes with the painty yellow one. Maybe it's intentional, I don't know. A really cool pic still.
Joker by Sonic1002
Clean it up. Again, I like the casting. Was his mout originally like that or did you do it? Creepy.
Night of the Sentinels by Amy Karas
Dude... Awesooome... Great scene. Rogue and Gambit look perfect. Cyke and the sentinel are a bit painty, but cool anyway. I'd like to get a more close up look on Storm and Wolverine.
Batman 1989 by OhmanArt
Perfection. I love the way he disappears in the shadows. How about doing one with Catwoman?
Phoenix Rising by tenchichan
The flames look nice, but they'e just floating on top of the rest of the picture, not effecting it in any way.
Batman: Animated GIF by ali786
Cool. Moody. The backgound is a bit bleh, but Batman looks awesome. Love the cape.
Pic redo: Yet another Aphrodite... by Daniel Zarco
Just how many green-haired chicks ARE there in comics? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif Great costume and accessories. Definate improvement to the original picture.
Superman Cartoon by Ed Hopkins
No! This is just the coolest (and smallest!) thing I've seen! I want more!
Cancelled series - Wonder Girl by MilleniumBum
Great drawing, nice colors. Oh, and nice inks as well. Cool.
thanks for the comments and suggestions on my work. i wasn't too keen on the red background either, but i went with it anyway. like i sid in the art notes, there's a pic in the queue of "angel" on his own.
thanks again guys.
