X-Park by localhero
My german is a bit rusty, so it took me at least 4 or 5 minutes to get the joke. After that much work it wasn't that funny. On the other hand I really like the pic Wolverine looks really sweet. The hair reminds me a bit of tweek.

Angel by loki
the coloring and everything looks real cool. Its so hard to see his face though. I'm guessing there were some limits to the detail of the original picture.

Batman dead end by joker21
I almost like this, but not quite. I really like the top strip of pictures, but I'm not a huge fan of how the text is layed out.

The Psychic by RemyBeaulieu
ok am I crazy but isn't this just a picture of johnny depp from the movie From Hell? I guess there's some extra stuff going on around the boarder but it doesn't stand out enough for me to tell what it is.

Spidey by Undertow
this is amazing for having been done all by mouse in corel. very impressive.

New X-Men by bullsik
I like and I don't like. all the costumes look great and the coloring is very nice, but except for wolverine and beast everyone has kind of a sad look on their face.

Ben Grimm by spiderman
good work with the rocky texture. I think I like the way you draw guys a lot more then how you draw ladies.

Evil Dead 4 by Sweet_Henrietta
the title of this picture was enough for me to like it (which I do). The necronomicon looks a little out of place in the picture. If it was me I'd have either added more objects around ash or had it just be ash.

Spiderwoman by kidofsteel
while you might not be the next jack kirby I like the picture. It's a good pose.

Re-Do of Wonder Woman by rayray2021
much improved, you should be very proud. She still looks very muscular, but I know that was something you wanted to convey in your first picture. Her proportions are much better this time around and man you did a great job with her costume.

Wonder Wallpaper by MilleniumBum
the wonderwoman logo reminds me of van halen.... hmmm now I have panama stuck in my head. For that alone I give this thumbs up. You did a very nice, very clean job of pasting all the different pictures together.

Gotham U: Harvey Dent by kev_incal
somehow this picture just got panama out of my head ; ) Seriously this picture is very funny, and very well done. Good work.

Emma II by Edz2002
man I really like how you colored this. nice work.

Elektra Lives! by Welshcat
Holy crap on a stick. I'm in love, and I'm not sure if it's with elektra or with welshcat for providing us with this great picture. Everyone NEEDS to click through to the larger version he has, its awesome. I do think that costume is illegal in most states.

GI JOE-Pasttimes by Solid Snake
This is a nice picture, but I still can't stop thinking about elektra costume... must focus...

Birds of Prey by me
do you have any idea how hard it is to draw a wheelchair?

..the face was a b&w screen shot i got from a music video. the quality wasn't great so i smoothed it out a bit. thanks for the comments!

and for the rest of the UIRs today...

SPANDEX RULES
hehe this is cool. your attention to detail (nightcrawler's toes and wolvie's claws) makes the simplicity of the image hard to replicate. good work.

DEAD END
i only saw this video a couple of nights ago. i like this poster a lot, especially the film frames up the top.

PSYCHIC
apart from the text and border, what else did you to the original image/s? i can't see anything done to it, though that might be a good thing.

SPIDEY
work that mouse; good stuff. maybe adding some depth using shadows would make it stand out more.

NEW X-MEN
nice drawing and colouring job. i like the look of the characters, cept cyclops looks like a "bad guy", i don't know why exactly but it just gave me that feeling.

BEN GRIMM
i love sketches, and this is no exception. the lines look a bit too deliberate, maybe loosening up a bit would make the end result more lively. then again, i can't draw anything so good work !

EVIL DEAD 4
i haven't seen any of the ED films, but i guess if its a cut-em-up horror film, this poster works. maybe changing the layer's BLENDING PROPERTIES of the credits to SCREEN would get rid of the black background.

SPIDERWOMAN
nice looking pic, i'd love to see it cleaned up and coloured, by hand or in photoshop.

WONDER WOMAN
i still think her upper-body is too muscular, but i don't know if that's how she was originally intended. other than that, this pic, like your last one, is pretty damn good.

WONDER WOMAN collage
the symbols you painted look great on all the manips, and the costumes of the fully decked wonderwoman look great. the pants on rachael leigh cook could be darker i think, and the third WW looks out of place.

HARVEY DENT
hehe nice!

BIRDS OF PREY
this looks very promising, but even as it is it looks great. maybe "inking" it again using photoshop will give it denser blacks and more a comic-book feel. but like i said, itl ooks great already.

GI JOE
this has a very 'war time' feel to it, the style of drawing i mean, not the subject matter (which is pretty obvious its about war times!). maybe colouring it then running it through a sepia tone would make feel authentic.

ELEKTRA LIVES
this deserves anthoer "THIS LOOKS BLOODY AWESOME". after looking at this manip, which is absolutely amazing, i'm thinking twice about submitting the manips i do. they seem too cut/paste/hue compared to this. i was wondering where you got the sai from, but after readingthe art notes, i thought "hold\y cow!". excellent job.

EMMA
you have a tendency to make beautiful women beautiful superheros (or villains, in this case). the smoothness of the image gives it a fantasy kind of feel, and the simple background works well.

and that's that (again).

i'm glad some people still like and remember the Gotham U series. There's still a few spots left in this semester's rooster as well as some open faculty positions. Also since Quinn Ito went off to Arkham Ayslum, I'll have to recast some there...

I told Zeke not to let you out of your cage!

Time to UIR:

Birds of Prey
by kevin newburn
Very nice drawing. You said you didn’t ink it but it looks like it was inked. How’d you do this on the computer? Drawing tablet?

Ben Grimm - Grumbler Extraordinare
by Spiderman620815
I think this my favorite drawing of yours. It reminds me of Jack Kirby combined with Whilce Portacio

GI JOE-Pasttimes
by Solid Snake
You captured the retro feel perfectly. Love the inks.

Elektra Lives!
by Welshcat
You’re making me look bad. Damn you. Just kidding! You’re one of the few artists whose pictures I eagerly look forward to seeing. Personally, I would have done more to hide Daredevil’s ear, but I know what you mean about seeing it in the comics. Great job, again. And as much as I like seeing Elektra half buck-naked, I still want to see more Iron Man pics from you. Perhaps Elektra and Iron Man! There’s a thought.

Emma II
by Edz2002
Nice work but type some blasted art notes man.

Gotham U: Harvey Dent
by kev_incal
I can’t even wrap my mind around this image enough to give it a proper UIR. So perplexed.

Wonder Wallpaper
by MilleniumBum
Its a little under whelming for a wallpaper. Perhaps if all the Wonder Women covered the entire image and you had the WW symbol somewhere in front of them it would be a bit more impressive. Or maybe its just lacking a dynamic background. I guess what I’m saying is that its just lacking something.

Re-Do of Wonder Woman Drawing
by rayray2021
Very good Re-Do. I do think WW’s pose looks a wee awkward. That may be because her neck is very long and she has one shoulder hunched up. But this a big improvement over your previous drawing. Nice work.

Evil Dead 4
by Sweet_Henrietta
What is you teenagers say? Ah yes, SWEET!

New X-Men
by bullsik
Pretty good. Emma Frost shouldn’t look so uptight. When you draw her, think “Christina Aguilera”.

Spidey
by Undertow
Drawn by mouse!? You get an A +++.

X-Park: Spandex Rules
by localhero
You really have that South Park style nailed.

BATMAN: DEAD END
by joker21
creepy

Spiderwoman
by kidofsteel
Anatomy. Anatomy. Anatomy.

Angel (a real one)
by loki
He doesn’t look very comfortable like that. Other than the pose I can’t find much to complain about. The wings need some touching up to blend with the character. It doesn’t look like Angel and his wings are in the same picture. I like the background and the heavenly lights coming down.

The_Vampire:Spider

What a kick ass update:
X-park: Spandex Rules
by localhero:
Ha love em.

Angel (a Real One)
by loki:
Uniform looks real good the face and wings could use some more detail over all I like it though.

BATMAN: DEAD END
by joker21:
Havent seen it but heard about it at least, very nice poster.

The Psychic
by RemyBeaulieu:
Umm good cut paste and boarder.

Spidey
by Undertow;
Nice mouse work, for the first 8 months or so of maniping I did had nothing but a mouse to use so I know how much a pain this might have been.

New X-Men
by bullsikL
Its a great picture but I dont know could just be me but they all looked depressed.

Ben Grimm - Grumbler Extraordinare
by Spiderman620815:
Good job.

Evil Dead 4
by Sweet_Henrietta:
I think it needs some sort of background or at least more black background to match with the black around him.

Spiderwoman
by kidofsteel:
Nice quick sketch, lacks in detail nice pose though.

Re-Do of Wonder Woman Drawing
by rayray2021:
Great redo I like this one much better.

Wonder Wallpaper
by MilleniumBum:
I ve always like your work nice compilation of WW.

Gotham U: Harvey Dent
by kev_incal:
This series kicks butt, Welshcat as dent hilarious.

Emma II
by Edz2002:
Nice costume job looks good.

Elektra Lives!
by Welshcat:
Again grreeeeeeaaatt job.

GI JOE-Pasttimes
by Solid Snake:
Cool picture

My art notes should be clearer, maybe I'll rewrite them tonight. Bah, why bother when I can ramble on here. This picture actually started out as two different pencil drawings. One of Black Canary and Huntress and one picture of Oracle. I used my light box to put all three characters on one page. Then I finished it using my mechanical pencil which gets pretty dark. I had to scan the picture in in four parts, cause it's on 11" by 17" paper. Then I used PSP to piece it back together. I played with the brightness/contrast and gamma correction till I got the pencils really dark. Once that was done it was just a matter of getting my picture cleaned up enough to copy it over the background I picked out.

Actually, yeah... I didn't do much to this one other than copy/paste the border and fix the words and maybe darken it a bit...I felt a bit unsure as to wether to post this one because of the level of NON-manippness, but I figured "What the Hell" because I was already posting my other LXG/PotC/From H ell picture, and I wanted to make up for the long period in which I hadn't posted any art. Plus, you have to look at it as I was very proud of this, because I'd only figured out how to combine elements from different pictures like that a couple of days before. But, yes, as said before, it's not really supposed to be a Picasso, or a Monet or nothin'. heh. It was really just meant to add a border to my LXG Abbrline profile pic, like was seen in the official LXG publicity photos, so it wouldn't be so...boring. before, it was just Abberline in a sea of nothing. I decided to make it a bit more interesting. but given such, you may disregard it at your will. lol. I won't hold it against you. :P

The_Vampire:Spider
09-08-2003, 11:21 PM
RemyBeaulieu you did do a good job even with the lack of maniping. Theres a lot of submisstions where they are just cut and paste and are very sloppy you did a very clean cut job and blended the image and boarder well. There may have not been a lot done to the picture but you did put some effort in it which makes it a much better cut and paste just than most.

Your post here helped clear up what exactally you did. I wasn't so sure by your art notes. I think there were to many movie and characters names that I was unfamiliar with. Not to mention all the acronyms. I agree with Vampy spidey, compared to some pictures we see, it was well worth posting.

A rather late UIR

X-Park by localhero
Great looking cartoon-type image, and a change of pace from you. Quite different to your other stuff I've seen recently.

Angel by loki
Hmm. This is an interesting concept and there definitely is potential here. I think you could've used a less awkward pose - and perhaps gone for Angel instead of Archangel, since that costume is more characteristic of the former.

Batman dead end by joker21
I like the pictures where he is changing costume, and the close up of that face, whatever it is, looks cool. But the Batman pic in the middle looks a bit bland for some reason.

The Psychic by RemyBeaulieu
As mentioned above, this does just look like a picture of Johnny Depp from that movie, without much done to it. I'm not sure what to say about this.

Spidey by Undertow
I like this picture - it almost looks like some picture for a Spider-Man profile. I would've preferred it to be a bit bigger however.

New X-Men by bullsik
This is very well drawn and coloured. But, as a similar comment to above, they do all look rather depressed. I understand they shouldn't all be smiling, but they really look down about something. Now maybe if there was a dead Jean Grey there, that would completely change the context of the picture and it would look really great.

Ben Grimm by spiderman
Pretty good looking sketch here. Is it me, or does his face look flatter than usual?

Evil Dead 4 by Sweet_Henrietta
Well, it looks a pretty dynamic and dramatic pose. I don't really know this character at all though.

Spiderwoman by kidofsteel
The pose looks nice, but the lines seem very rough and messy. Is this meant to be just a rough sketch or finished pencils?

Re-Do of Wonder Woman by rayray2021
This definitely looks better this time round. I'm still not sure however that Wonder Woman should be that muscular up top, even if she is an Amazon. This looks more like a colour-corrected She-Hulk in a WW costume, which isn't a bad thing in itself at all.

Wonder Wallpaper by MilleniumBum
I haven't seen your previous WW pictures, but nice work on the costumes. As mentioned above, it does seem a bit underwhelming - maybe you could've waited to do this until you'd made a few more WW pics?

Gotham U: Harvey Dent by kev_incal
This is really cool, and not just because it is of me. That sweatshirt looks like a J-Crew top - is it? That blue/grey half definitely reminds me of something else, but I can't think what. Also, it that suit from the Kingpin in Daredevil?

Emma II by Edz2002
I like the final rendering and colouring of this. I think however that her right breast seems to be lacking a bit of dimension, almost becoming slightly lost. And her pants could've had just slightly more highlights to make it less flat. But otherwise, great work.

Elektra Lives! by me
Just to explain - I wanted to completely eliminate any ambiguity there might be about whether Elektra wears knickers or not, making her costume (or half a costume) such that she couldn't possibly be wearing any.

GI JOE-Pasttimes by Solid Snake
Was this a GI Joe entry? I like the action in this one.

Birds of Prey by Kevin Newburn
I really like this picture - great poses, and Batgirl's (or whoever she is)wheelchair looks well done. The costumes look cool too.

Hehe. thanks, guys. I do usually try to keep a higher level of quality when I do mine. I mean to say that you'd be surprised how many of my manips I abandon and just drop because they weren't sticking with my standards. >_O It's like "Oh, crap! There's a line of pixels on the right hand side of the hat by the band that went to far to the left! I'll have to botch the ENTIRE PICTURE now..." I get really really harsh with my own stuff. heh...which is why I was kind of leary of posting that one. but thanks again for the comments. ^_^
