Did you know... Dr. Seuss' wife, when asked how to pronounce their last name after his death, said "Seuss to rhyme with Joyce".

How neat.

My brain was still today.
Just taking a little death.
Just like the doctors say.
I never get that kind of rest.
The movie's on again.
They got me nullifying ghosts.
I'm better dead than red.
I guess I'll never get off the boat...

Ahh... trenchcoats... I've wanted one for a while. Before even Columbine and Matrix, though those certinaly helped. I think MacBeth in Gargoyles was one of the first characters that spakerd my interest in wearing one. I eventually got a navy one with my folks up in Maine. We got it so I can wear it formally to like church and stuff. My last girlfrined during the short time we were together said she liked trenchcoats. PLus she said she liked HOlden Caufield (still gotta read that book) and Gambit. Unfortunatly by the time i went home and also by the time I convinved my parents ot let me take my coat in, things were over. Yet I started to wear the trench coat anyway. Then around my b-day we found a black one maked down to like $100 from like $350. Happy birthday to me. It is now my second skin, I wear it like every day. NOt too much recnetly becuase of the ehat, but there are days when i wear ti which are likley too hot. The inbetween days when i don't ahve to but can are nice.

And then i jsut loked next to me at my Withc HUunter Robin poster where most all of thema re wearing blakc trenchcoats. HEck, my hair is even now somewhat like Amon's. ALl I need is some Orbo... (and a friend is actually thinking of makeing some Orbo crosses eventually.)

Also, i now have 183 megs of Tatu photos. I started the quasucker program to them from a gallery online before i left. i just thought it'd take one gallery, i come back to find it took every one on the site. so i now have 183 meg of Tatu photos, like over 3000 pics. of course varying quality, but it's quite comprehensive.

also they have a photo of tatu and marilyn manson, and one of eminem elena and manson. odd.

The first one is a fantastic movie, full of amazing visuals and the soundtrack is wonderful. But the english dub is ridiculously... flat... and... monotone... and... slowly... paced...

Watch it in subtitles and widescreen if you can.

The second's dub is nowhere near as bad. It starts off pretty bad, but it actually gets better as the movie goes on...

I'd still say watch it in subtitles, though. The translations are usually better.

Vampire Hunter D was probably the first anime movie I ever saw. It was one of those anime movies that the Sci-Fi channel showed for their first japanimation marathon(along with Lensman and Robot Carnival). Its still a classic even with the bad dubbing, but the sequal is far better IMO.

The Xenos

ahhh.. more anime speak...

well ealier i mentioned the Witch Hunter Robin poster next to me. Now I switch to the kick ass Vampire Hunter D wallscroll in front of me. It's not jsut from the anime, it's actually a from painting by Yoshitaka Ammano. I must credit my last gf for sparking an interest in him. Now I am a big fan of his works. I've seen both D films and they were pretty good. Saw the first subbed, the second dubbed. The only thing that bugged me about teh dub is that the female hunter had the same voice as Bobbie Hill. That was just odd. Also, recently i snagged the Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust PS1 game, which is pretty good.

My last gf also told me about a film which Amano did designs and created the look for. It was also directed by Oshi, who did Ghost in the Shell. It's called Angel's Egg. It's a bit artsy and dry, but really cool and surreal.

Oh and my roomate has a HK dvd of Robot Carnival and I've seen some of it. It tis pretty cool. I forget if a US company has it and has it in print.

And gosh damn it's so &*$#ing muggy all my posters and papers are curling! I can only iamgeine what my comics are going though. &*A34ing Hurricane Isobel. THe weather wasn't bad here save for the damn humidity.

ha! speaking of Robot Carnival.. unbeknownst to me, my roomates started playing Robot Carnival a bit ago. ha. it was the segment with the Disneylan type of park, even with an electric light parade.

At one point, when the robot guy saves the girl, i joked Domo Arigato Mr Roboato. Then one of my roomates started ot play the song and muted the TV sound. It was spooky how it scynched up at a good number of scenes.

I started the quasucker program to them from a gallery online before i left. i just thought it'd take one gallery, i come back to find it took every one on the site. so i now have 183 meg of Tatu photos, like over 3000 pics. of course varying quality, but it's quite comprehensive.

also they have a photo of tatu and marilyn manson, and one of eminem elena and manson. odd.

Man... $100? I got a trenchcoat for $30. Canadian. And it doesn't suck.

Speaking of trenchcoats, I picked up one of the "Neo" coats today... I'll be using it as a pattern later on to craft a more faithful reproduction of Neo's modified cassock from the last Reloaded and Revolutions.

The problem with this one is that, while it's nifty cotton duck and flows nicely (And fits quite well, pictures available if anyone wants them), the buttons are too few and too large (they're also quite tricky to manipulate, oddly enough).

Ah, well. Soon enough I shall have a nicely custom fitted black satin cassock. Muahahaha...

Ack! Almost anything ending with -mon doesn't count.

Gunsmith Cats is a good anime series to start with. Good characters, cool action and not a whole lot to keep up with in terms of plot but there's still a decent story.

I've seen a few eps of Bible Black and it sucked...well bad choice of words, but it did. But since my first hentai was the unedited version of Urotsukidoji(Legend Of the Overfeind), most of the others just seem like junk.

I've never heard of The Shinesmen. Sounds interesting, I'll have to check it out.

I wrote a satire article about a (former) California governor, Pete Wilson, once a few years back. The man's policies and behaviors were almost Nazi-esque, in his treatment of immigrants (legal or not), domestic funding, and relations with other, neighboring states...

So, I wrote a parody speech in which he justified the annexing of Nevada because it had always been full of loyal Californians wanting to return to the Father State...

Oddly enough, it wasn't well recieved. Huh.

Sorry, Lara, i was thinking aobut it and i thought i did. Then I saw the thread and wondered if i did. Now I see I didn't. SOrry. YOu should never leave a lady waiting. If you do, ask them for a spaking for being a naughy boy.

Anyway, huzzah. Good for you .Although I know n o t h i n g about this Bible Black or 'hen-tie' you speak of... yeah..

Gun Smith Cats rules. If you'd like to see more there's like a prequel in a movie / short OVA series called Riding Bean. ALso got cool cars and and hot chicks with kick ass guns.

I hadn't heard of The Shinesmen, but my two of my roomateshad, said it was funny and only like one ep. Think of them has it.

And Bebop.. well I got my room plastered with Bebop posters, figures, plushies. Faye and Julia love dolls.. um.. ignore that last one.. Anyway, Bebop rules. I suggest watching more. JUst don't watch the last two eps without seen most of the show. Actually the last two eps coninue specifically from ep 5 and ep 12 and 13. Or maybe 13 and 14, the Jupiter Jazz eps. I love the Aliens parody ep 11, TOys in the Attic.

Also, have you seen Big O? Big O is cool. If you were around here I'd be happy to give you some Big O. I ahve the first DVD and some of it on tape. (What? What were you thinking?)

And of course for freaky Freudian psychodrama with giant mechs fighting angels and an end of the world prophisies from the Dead Sea Scolls, check out Eva. YOu mind may never be the same again.

Also if you like kick ass vampires, I gotta suggest Hellsing.

And, just wodnering, do you like guy on guy action? No I am not offering myself to anything, not even for a fee (or at least not for under a few thousand). Just that a good number of animes for girls (shojo) have this theme/genre (shonen-ai) in it. If you get more explicit, like all the crazy fangirls' slash fanfics, it's yaoi. One time our previous club president had brought in a tape of Fake. (Though I don't even know if she knew what it was. ) It was a buddy cop drama in which they became a little more than buddies.

THough I must admit right now I am downloading a really cool looking Korean animated movie called Wonderful Days which features a love story between two guys. When I first read about it they didn't make a big deal, so I didn't quite notice it, but I don't really care cause it jsut looks cool. Also there is a vampire anime called Descendants of Darkness that loks cool and also has shonen ai in it.

Oh and one last suggestion, any Miyazaki and Ghibli movies. My favorite is Castle int eh Sky. Recently, about the same time as Spirited Away, there was another really good Ghibli film called The Cat Returns. It wasn't by Miyazaki though, yet Ghibli still made quite a great film in it. Another relaly cool Alice in Wonderland type of story.

Oh and speaking of cats, Cat's Soup is out now. It's a somewhat short that is trippy and cool as hell. I don't know how to even descibe it. That's avaible on DVD in teh US now. Next month, one of the art house theartes here over by Harvard Sqaure is showing another weird cat one called Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat In Space. I've heard it descibed as Hello Kitty meets Betty Boop on acid. Sounds cool. ANd hey, it's got a funky site: www.tamala2010.com (http://www.tamala2010.com)

Hates Evangelion! We hates it, Preciousssssssss. Burns us, it does, with it's horrid plot and it's shallow characters and it's inconsistent themes! Wish it's creator had stayed on his medication, we does! Want it to stop being hailed as the "world's greatest anime series" we does! Want people to stop gushing over it and see it for the contrived piece of overy dogmatic, disjointed, mysoginistic ego-stroking it is, yessss.....

*gollum gollum*

... Ahem. Yes. Anyway.

Point of trivia: Riding Bean is NOT the prequel to Gunsmith Cats. Kenichi Sonoda's character "Rally" is just a carryover character from many of his productions. She's kind of like his default character, really.

(everyone may want to read this)

To put it bluntly, because the No Topics are becoming too popular. The No Topics were originally created to get off-topicness down in this here DCG forum. However, lately, it seems the No Topics have become WAY more populated than any other topic on all of the C2F message boards, which isn't good. We had been getting a new No Topic almost every two days!!! I have left this No Topic open in hopes that the extended pages would cut down on how many people post, and it does seem to be working.

The DCG Forum is NOT for just talking non-sense. This is a forum for talking about the DCG and art and so forth. I always looked at the No Topic as a nice way for people who don't tend to venture into the other forums to talk about anything. It has certainly helped keep off-topicness down many many many notches. However, when it gets this bad out of hand, something must be done. I certainly didn't want to close down No Topics completely, that would be no fun, but I do want the Non-topic discussion to be reduced. This involves people posting nothing more than song lyrics or poems they've read, so on. I can't single out every single post that I don't like, nore would I. I want you guys to decide what you just HAVE to post in the No Topic, or what you can either send in e-mail, post in the General Dicussion forum (which is basically one big No Topic) or rather, just not say at all.

So, as before, I'm going to leave this one No Topic open for now. However, if the daily posts seem to die down considerably, I will allow 1-page No Topics again. I just don't want people racing to start a new one, just so they can talk about nothing.

I'm glad Zac said what he said, because that's kind of the point I was (silently) trying to make with my mad posting and topic creation weirdness. As someone who used to moderate the discussion boards at an ISP (one of the perks of working at an ISP for three years... I wish that place was still alive...), I got a chance to see a lot of different methods of handling forums. The problem with consistent topic forums is that people will, inevitably, hijack threads for their own and eventually degenerate into conversations about Nazi Whales or something. The No Topic threads in this forum are a very good way of countering that.

That, and we're a bunch of weirdos, and this gives us an outlet.

I swear, when I get more time, I'll stop making two minute posts and go back to doing full UIR's and submitting more work on a regular basis.

Wow nice problem solving skills there Zac I m impressed. Yeah we were getting crazy with the N.T. there would be some days you would look in in the morning and then by the afternoon the n.t. started that morning would be closed down and a new one half filled. Lot of times when it gets like that I just stop reading what was said and just look at the art or write up a U.I.R. that is if time and self motivation is up to it.
I dunno I think more often like 2 page no topics should occure to cut back on them with the little numbers its not really a hassle, look at this one all way up to page 4 and in the other forums topics get way past that.

Weirdoes indeed... Nazi Whales? As a half-Jewish Dolphin I'm outraged by such talk. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

Hey, anime discussion! I've wanted to get in on one of these for a while... I watch loads of the stuff, and have been for about a decade.

Ashley: Hentai's the right term. It's just that most anime fans don't like to admit they've heard of the stuff. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif Myself, I've never watched it. No, really! Why're you all looking at me like that?

Cowboy Bebop absolutely rules, easily the best of the big anime that's made it to North America so far. It's available dubbed, but subbed is invariably better.

Gunsmith Cats is also awesome. I'd suggest anyone who likes the OAVs check out the manga. There's way more of it and it's IMODO generally up to the same standard as the show, unlike some other mangas.

Eva's certainly insane, but still can be loads of fun (well, until it all goes just a bit too gratuitously weird in the last few episodes.) Just don't take it as seriously as it takes itself and you'll be fine.

Anything by Miyazaki's great. I think Spirited Away's my favourite, though there's a couple I haven't seen, including Laputa. (Oh, and Miyazaki's films are generally quite well dubbed, for those who dislike subtitles.)

I haven't seen Witch Hunter Robin (which The Xenos keeps harping on about) yet. I really need to, sometime.

And what's Big O?

P.S. I'm not sure it's working, Zac. Four messages have shown up since I started writing this... http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif

I m easily impressed for one meh, two I am always kinda in shock when a person can do something that they know hundreds of people will see, lol I m still amazed that my friends band is playing actual concerts for fans not just friends and that is like 6 month old news. before we officially birth the halloween theme day, should we define it better? are we talking about using the halloween theme in our regular manips, posting manip-enhanced versions of our own costumes, or doing like an x-mas style costume swaping? incidentally have you seen the cool lil'justice league costumes in the c2f shop? i hope a gang of Just League kiddies comes by to wherever i'm at on halloween! maybe they'll add aquaman and etrigan or zatanna! hmm...maybe not.

back in my day one year i had a horrid plastic transformers one piece costume of Grimlock with a cheap mask. i think i pissed myself cause i couldn't get out of the get up quickly enough.

I keep my clothes on. Guys with odd fetishes go on there (I'm not on the main page, I'm on a forum where the members talk).

Example, there is this guy who is completely obsessed with the Bionic Woman so I put on a dress and some hose and do some bionic moves for some pics and he sends me money via PayPal.

It's things like that.

Recently I took a set of me in a bathing suit with whipped cream all over me.. but I kept me suit on and still made like $85 for it.

Okay, so, it's no secret that I'm an unrepentant geek. I love me my science fiction.

So this weekend I picked up the 1957 "The War Of The Worlds" movie. Oh, man, is it first class BAD. I realize the effects are top notch for that era of film, but... You can see the STRINGS holding up the Martian war machines. Itty bitty black strings holding them up as they float menacingly above suspiciously sparse terrain.

Ah, well, at least they blow up most of southern California early on in the film. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

If Lara has Natalie Portman then who do I have in my dufflebag?

*unzips bag and looks inside*

Awww damnit! Princess Amidala decoys. I can't stand them. They're everywhere.

[* for those that are not-in-the-know, Keira played Sabe, the decoy for Queen (not princess http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif) Amidala in 'Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menance'. She has since gained more fame with starring roles in such films as 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Bend it Like Beckham']

I didn't do anything to her. As a matter of fact, she's got a decoy for herself as well. In a very awkward moment I discovered that her decoy was actually Johnny Depp wearing a blond wig.

Amusing story, I was at a Festival, and this totally stoned guy came up to me, looked at my face and said, "OMG! It's Nelly Furtado! Omg! Omg! It's really you!" And tried to get my autograph.

I think my sister looks a lot like Nelly F. But I don't look like my sister much, so I don't know what that guy was on. >_<

have we ever had like a 'black and white' theme day? i think it might be interesting to see what we can do when limited to black and white or even black, white, and one other color. Its not a simple matter of 'desaturating' an image, but figuring out how to make the best of the gray scale you are left with. if no one's interested, i can always just experiment on myself....mwahahahaha *cough* haha!
