If Casino Royale is a re-boot (a-la Batman Begins) then Felix Leiter should be healthy and in the movie, as he is in the book. The question is, who should play him?

In the books, Felix is a slow talking Texan who is good friends with Bond. The movies have bungled Felix in the past, casting actors who are much too old. Live and Let Die and Living Daylights did reasonably well.

IMO, the perfect casting would be Chris Isaak. A slow talking, southern accented, good looking guy. Think of his work in Fire Walk With Me and it seems like it could work. When I read the books, he was what popped in my head.

Other suggestions...thoughts?

I don't believe Felix will be in the movie at all. I've been following casting news and rumors, and it appears the character is being dropped. IGN Film Force has this quote: "American CIA agent – Somewhere between 30 and 40 years old. Filmmakers are considering name actors."

It certainly sounds like they're taking the character but not the name; probably part of the re-boot, which is not so much a re-starting from the beginning of the books, as a wiping the slate clean on the character. After all, if they were keeping true to the book, they'd have Moneypenny make an appearance; she was in the book. But the news is already out; no Moneypenny. Also, it appears the villain's name won't be LeChiffre. My guess is that the LeChiffre role is the one they're calling "Demetrius" (since he is described as a professional gambler/money launderer) and the "main villain" is his boss.
