Replying to the critics from 'craignotbond.com', director Martin Campbell said: "I am convinced that Craig is the best actor who has ever - and I mean ever - played James Bond". He added that GoldenEye "was a Bond formula movie, but that lead into a dead end. We cannot go and blast away control centres for another ten years. We're going back to the beginning: No CGI, but good old fist fights."

Yeah, but this quote was dumb - "We show that Bond will suffer from emotional and physical pain. Honestly, we couldn't do that with Pierce." I guess I must have imagined the beach scene in GoldenEye and the torture scenes in Die Another Day.
I refuse to believe that Brosnan could not play scenes of depth had they been written for him. I think he did admirably with what he was given and could have done more had the scripts reflected that. It is in no way a lacking on his part.
I don't get why he has to hype this movie by putting down a previous entry, that for my money is one of the best Bond movies ever made. Having said all that, I am in looooooooooove with Caterina Murino!!!! She is yummy!

Yeah, that sounds like instructions from Barbara B. to swipe back at Brosnan. And it'll backfire, because the public is enormously in love with Pierce. Don't mess with People Magazine's sexiest man alive!!
Brosnan wanted, and fought for, an emotional scene in each of his Bond movies. His discovery of Paris's body is a highlight for me. His killing of 006 "No, for me" is another. It's Brosnan's emotional depth that makes him my favorite Bond, even over Connery and Dalton.

I like the above quote on the thread , & it does make me more hopefull for a good film. But it's totally cheap to take shots at Pierce for his work in these movies just because thay were crappy films . .
While Goldeneye was a tounge 'in' cheek picture , it was quite fun & totally bond & it worked . . . no need to put down the previous films or actors!
