With the tragic passing of Mr. Akkad, I would gather the future of the next Halloween film is iffy.
Does anyone in the know have any info?
I can understand it taking some time for others to pick up the "knife" and carry on, but I rather wonder if the franchise may just stop here & now.
Some would agree that would be a wise choice.
Then again, with more $ to be made, perhaps not.

Halloween is my favorite horror series, Michael Myers has always scared me more than any other horror villain. I think that they'll probably go ahead and do the next movie and then stop there. IMDB still has a page up for Halloween: Retribution (aka Hall9ween & Halloween: Bloodline), but nothing is listed other than it's in pre-pro and the only cast member is Heather Bowen, who won a walk-on role through the official Halloween website. It is listed as being released in 2006, so you never know.

I hope they continue making more Halloween movies, you gotta love Michael Myers. Although killing off Jamie Lee Curtis in the last one made me mad. It would had made a great franchise ending killing both her and him at the same time. A kind of quite peaceful ending. The last movie was the second worst in the franchise (if anyones seen Halloween 3 they will understand this). I hope they continue putting out quality Halloween movies :D

The only three that I am willing to acknowledge are 1, 2 and H20.

2 was definitely about Myers. It picked up where 1 left off. As in Donald Pleasance departs the balcony to get down to the ground and look at the body up close except the body is gone by the time he gets there.
3 was about some stupid-ass kids being controlled by Halloween masks or some such BS and had nothing -- let me stress that -- nothing NOTHING to do with Myers.

Well, they had originally intended the Halloween films to be more of an anthology horror series, with each film taking place during Halloween. Unfortunately, they didn't really tell audiences that so when Halloween III: Season of the Witch came out, everyone was really confused and demanded Michael Myers back. So we've had The Shape from then on.
On a side note, part 6 was on the other night, and because whoever writes the guide info for my cable is apparently lazy, it was titled Halloween: The Curse of MIKE Myers. I just got a kick out of picturing Mike Myers as either Austin Powers or Wayne running around killing people!
