mumm-ra: 8o's flashback. nice work.

catwoman: nice work. very stylized. great work with the stitching.

team photo: nice work. i see flash made it just in time.

Batgirl: welcome to the dcg....very solid first work.

braniac: nice....looks like the action figure they have for him (which i can't find...sold out). nice touch with the cape.

I don't have the time for a full UIR, either. Hope someone out there does... Still, here's a few selected comments...

Nightcrawler by daekazu
Ah! I was waiting for the colour version of this. Awesome work! Great inks and colours.

Catwoman by Chartreuse93
Good work. The stiches are indeed really well done, as is the suit's texture. It'd be cool to see some wrinkles, though, and the corset (I'm guessing that's what the thing around her middle is supposed to be) looks kinda iffy. Still, very good work.

Group Photo by Ed Hopkins
Very nicely done. I really like your colouring style. Only problem I can see is that Wonder Woman's W looks a bit misshapen. I like the Flash blur effect.

Brainiac by ali786
Great work. I love the art style. The cape's a great touch, and looks quite good to boot. The arms are totally too short, but otherwise the proportions look fine to me. The musculature's great.

Fathom by squedge
Wow. Amazing. That water effect is incredibly nice. There should probably be air bubbles inside, though, like the artist tried to do for the Fathom pic a few days ago. Still, this is way better than I could do Fathom, so I shouldn't really complain. Her hair looks really good.

Superboy -- Could use some shading on the symbol as it is it doesn't really look like part of the shirt

Batgirl -- Same comments as your previous work and why is she purpley-blue?

Joker -- Not bad recolor and did you widen the smile too? Only complain is how pixelated it looks.

Nightcrawler -- Wow! The colors on this really make it stand out even more. I didn't get a chance to comment before but now --- I can't think beyond wow.

Mumm-ra -- A bit more info on what you did would be helpful but one thing that jumped out at me was the wrappings don't seem to meld with the pic and the texture on them is a bit strong for grave linens.

I am Justice -- Nice action pose and I like the textured style. I'll have to leave the technical aspects to the experts though since I can't draw my way out of a paper bag.

Catwoman -- The stitching detail on this is very well done and I really think the pose works well for the character. Like "B" said the torso area looks a bit odd but otherwise very nice piece.

Team Photo -- Wonderful piece I especially like Wonder Woman's breastplate and the whole concept (Flash outracing the flash) made me chuckle.

Atom -- Not sure about the pointed design on the cowl piece it sort of gives the illusion of a pointed head, but its well done none the less.

Shift Page 1 -- Nice work and a great way to start a story. You definately have me curious. Look forward to seeing more.

Christi Shake as Batgirl -- For a first manip this is really nice. AND you took a chance and did a cape. My suggestion -- watch the edges (a couple of places you missed her hair and the edge of her mask seem jagged). And if this is your beginning stage I can't wait to see more from you. Welcome to the DCG.

Brainiac -- Very menacing. I love the half shadow on the torn cape. That and the other detail of this is what makes it stand out to me.

Hellhype -- Cool piece of an interesting character in a very cool style. I've never even read any of the comics and I am really looking forward to seeing it too.

Fathom -- The only thing I can say is WOW!!!!!! This is gorgeous. I would love to know how you did this but I'll be content to just shake my head in awe and wish I could be this good.

Princess Zelda -- The face and hair don't blend together. maybe if you smoothed the face a bit to give it a painted feel.

What Would? -- LMAO! I love it. The name of the place and the little notes on the menu board are priceless.

Here's a few reviews from me for today:

Nightcrawler by Daekazu: I think you're a good artist, but I really dislike this image. Nightcrawler looks like a woman. Not a little feminine; like an actual woman. To me, this image represents not one bit of what Nightcrawler is, even down to the lighting. The actual colouring is well executed, but it is uninspired. Surely a character like this deserves some more dramatic and inventive lighting.

Team Photo by Ed Hopkins: This is cool, but it seems like there's a layer missing on top that holds everything together. The colours feel extremely loose and the contrast is quite inconsistent. The looseness is a key issue, IMO. An added layer with some dark shadows would really hold things together.

Shift by Mankindram: I like it. The art holds a nice style; kinda of a mix between Ringo and Pete Woods. I can't really judge yet, but the angles seem somewhat boring. The third panel is what I mean, mostly. It feels like it should be quite dynamic, but a bland angle kind of robs it of that. The dialogue is slightly cliche so far, but it sounds interesting.

Brainiac by ali786: Looks cool. There are some rather distracting problems with the anatomy though; it feels very inconsistent. It seems like you're not really planning ahead before you begin, as in the entire body isn't totally sketched out. The arms seem stubby and the head looks very large. However, the actual creation of the body and costume is great and you have a real eye for colour, which is extremely important when doing manips, but is a skill that is often over-looked.

Hellboy by Kaz: I like your style, but I think you put too much emphasis on drawing out all the muscles. You have an unusual style with a lot of exagerration on the outside lines, so often that is enough to IMPLY the muscles. Adding too many lines makes the drawings look cluttered. I'd really like to see you try out some more dynamic lighting, though. It seems like you're basically on auto-pilot when it comes to shading and don't actually consider it an important visual tool.

Fathom: This is cool, but I don't think it's one of your strongest pieces. It seems too much like an assemply of filters and levels and such and that doesn't allow your work to really show through. Still, the body is very well done. The bubbles, however, bother me a bit. They don't look like individual bubbles or disrupted water, but instead look like a kind of rocky texture. I like the image a lot, don't get me wrong, but it feels like you rushed through it and knowing your previous work, i think you could have done better.

I just had to comment on some of the great pieces today...

"Team Photo" by Ed Hopkins - As a huge fan of your work, I had to take the time to do this UIR. Excellent as always. Perhaps the colours seem a little too intense for me, but it sitll looks great. You da man!

"Nightcrawler" by daekazu - There aren't enough rave words and explatives to describe how great I think this is.

"I Am Justice" by trekkie - An amazing piece too, but I do wish more artists would pay some attention to the backgrounds. When editors look at portfolios, they want to know you can draw more than anatomy. Still, excellent work.

"Catwoman" by Chartreuse93 - Love the pose, the costume, and especially the stiches. I'm just not fussy on Poser faces. If it isn't Poser face, then it's been re-coloured and the eyes are too flesh-toned. I do like the overall piece though.

"Brainiac" by ali786 - VERY cool water-painted look. Really diggin' it.

"Hellhype" by KAZ - You know I'm a fan, so why say more than -- great work.

"Fathom" by squedge - Definately saving the best for last, man, that is FANTASTIC! You should be very proud. I hope you print that out and hang it up somewhere to inspire you to more excellent work. Props man. Props!

About the background.....The pic was a school assignment, and since the project was just a figure drawing so we weren't supposed to do a background, or else I probably would have. Thanks for the comments!
