I had some time at work this evening so I guess I get to start off the UIR for today so here goes.....

Mutant Massacre -- You said in your notes what would have been my first comment (the lighting) . Beyond that its a pretty good frankensteining job. The only think is that it almost looks like a bit of Cyke's chin is peeking out from behind the top spear (or maybe its just that his neck is a bit long.

Birds of Prey -- Nothing to say that hasn't been said on previous pieces.

Maggot -- It's TANK! http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif Nice clean recolor of the skin and the eyes seem well done too. I also like the X badge.

Panthro -- Cool texturing of the fur (is that hand done or did you use a texture plugin?). And the belt is well done also. The bicept on the arm screen left (his right) looks a bit odd but overall I like it.

Lex Luthor -- A little more info on what you did would be appreciated. I am guessing you added the background but did you also remove his hair? Really nice first manip either way. Welcome to the DCG

Trinity -- Nice cut and paste and choice of background.

Suicide Squad! -- Very pixelated. I would suggest trying to find higher quality base images to start with. You might want to check out the Art School link here in the DCG for costuming and hair tutorials. Welcome to the DCG

Shift Page 3 -- Still enjoying this and looking forward to more.

Flash Animated Gif -- Cool. I like how you showed the movement.

Batman and Robin -- Love the dynamic angle and staging of this pic. And I really like the little details. The butt and leg reflection really make it seem like he's really there.

Brock Lesnar as Venom -- I can see where you were trying to go with this but it doesn't quite make it. The Venom part of the suit is very flat in comparison to the head shot of Lesnar (which is also very blurry).

Christian Bale as Batman -- Very dark on my monitor not sure if it is me or the image. But of what I can see clearly I like the utility belt.

Spiderman Evolution -- Cool idea. Wish it were a bit larger size though. Guess you had to make it this site for the file limitation.

Wolverine -- Based on what I can tell from the pic nice clean cut and paste. Might have gone with a gold color on the type rather than the green but that is just me.

Catra -- From what I can see you just changed the bevel filter you used on the hair and added texture to the gloves. It still looks extremely awkward. Also try and do some shading on the black area of the bodice piece it's still very flat.

Mystique -- Very cool I really like your style a lot. I think my favorite part is how you do hair.

Hey Shaylinn! Actually, the original images I borrowed were small and I was creating the concept while out work (on break) using MS Paint (sorry). I may try to enlarge them at home, but it's kind of hard with a newborn (yes, I'm a new daddy again). Next, I'm going to tackle Team Batman (Batgirl, Nightwing and Robin) to show how (I think) they should look on Justice League. Stay tuned!

I can completely understand that. I don't know if it way at least partially my monitor but I could barely tell who was what. But if you did all that in Paint you have absolutly nothing to apologize for.

And congratulations on your new baby.

First, let me say THANK YOU, so much, for making me feel so welcomed. In never expected feedback at all, let alone such kind comments.
I will do my best to answer your questions, but it’s difficult. When I say this was my first photomanip, I mean it was my FIRST. I did it months ago, before I even knew about this site. I had no idea what I was doing, so much of my “technique” was trial and error/hit or miss.
The photo of Hackman is somewhat common if you do an internet search. I think it’s a fairly recent picture, too. Yes, I did remove his hair, which also meant I had to retouch the skin tones and shadows – again, something I’d never done before and I’d not yet seen any tutorials. The background came from a promotional picture of Martin Sheen from West Wing. So the image of Hackman had to be flipped and re-sized to cover Sheen.
Many of my friends who have seen it are confused, too, thinking it is just a picture of Gene Hackman. When I point out the presidential seal and the lack of hair, the light goes on. The fact that they don’t recognize it as a photomanip I take as a compliment, but then I was going for a subtle effect (starting slow, I guess).

I would definatly call not being able to tell its a manipulation a good thing. I honestly couldn't tell that the bald head wasn't original to the image. And for me subtle is always a good thing. My first submission here was a simple recolor and addition of a ponytail to an existing pic.

Hope to see more of your work soon.
