This article (http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?nid=18246) has some spoilers, but not much. It sounds really interesting!

Black & white? Handheld camera? Fascinating.

"First of all, the traditional pre-credits action sequence will show how Bond got his 00-rating, showing the (required) two kills that he carries out. We’d heard that – but the news that it is in black and white is new, as is the news that the change to colour will come at a crucial point.

That whole sequence, however, is backstory, aimed at giving the film a back to basics feel. There will be no Q and no gadgets, and since it’s the first book, Bond makes mistakes and develops into the character we all know."

Part of me is intrigued.

Part of me is screaming, "Great, the origin of James Bond all tied up into a neat little pre-title sequence. Isnt this EXACTLY the sort of 'Last Crusade" crap I feared??"

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

READ AT YOUR OWN RISK

DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU

It's not an "origin," it's just the earning of the 00. In the Fleming novels, we are told at the beginning of CR how Bond earned his 00. In the novels, it was a designation given to anyone assigned to assassinate someone. Bond reminisces how he was given the 00 and sent to New York to kill someone, and how it made him feel.

The movie has it that two kills equal two 0s (one per kill). Which is, I dunno, corny and senseless but a little bit cool. I don't know (or recall) if we see just the second kill or both, but then we see the new database entry or ID card or something being created with the two 0s.
Not exactly an origin. Acceptable.

Could we please put spoilers inside the [ spoiler ] codes? If you're using a different style sheet, the white text still shows up. If you use the codes,

it's hidden from everyone, no matter what style they like!

Thank you.

That's cause you weren't geeky enough to follow the style sheet discussion in the help/suggestions forum. That's right. I'm a girl geek!!

Does James Bond ever get it on with the girl geeks? Or must I forever picture myself as Moneypenny?

I wouldn't say James Bond getting involve with the girl geeks. I would rather said they were geek chic/chique.
