We need a "Neo" graemlin...
I don't have a lot of time to UIR fully here at work, and because Netscape 4.73 doesn't display the DCG properly, but here's some quick notes...
School's Out For The Weekend - By Spiderman620815:
Your work is showing a definite "Image" style to it. I'd like to see what you could do if you allowed Jack Kirby, John Romita (senior or junior) or the venerable Jan Duursema into your influences, as well. Right now, I see a lot of very distorted anatomy (which I know I'm also guilty of) in a very "bad girl" comic manner. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this, but none of us get by on one style alone, and I'd love to see what your talents produce when given new playgrounds.
Lion-O - by lordmesa:
Dude. Right f-ing on.
Original Char - Lenore Deloncre:
I'd like to see more alteration on this one. Right now, it takes a lot of looking to see what makes this different from a standard Resident Evil poster. The LXG background is a good touch to help with changing the feel to it, however. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
On the costumes...
Mine - Belive it or not, there are several layers there, including a few adjustments (reducing camera flare from the main body... I had the most wonderful, but unintentional, natural lens flare from my glasses...), the glow, the background (obviously), and a few others. I'll probably redo the image once I get a proper cassock. It'll do for now.
Swingerbone - Dude, how long did you hold that pose? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif Nice pic!
Zac - We have to hang out at a convention. I'll do my Joker, complete with Harley, and you do the Scarecrow. It'll be fun!
Mike's - Nice look. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
Kev's - You have Sam's "scared" face down pretty well. Nicely done.
And I'm back to work.

But I did want to say how much I enjoyed seeing everyone's costumes!
And swingerbone nice job sewing from scratch, I thought you lived in Dallas...I was in Austin on Halloween if I'd known you were, we could've met up. Then you could have been the second person to actually know who I was.

my coworker is out sick and my boss isn't here yet so you get a *gasp* UIR from me.
deadpool - i really like the 3-D weight you gave the body. one thing, when you add super bright accents to the background (logo, fire) it tends to sort of creates an optical illusion (trompe de l'oeil perhaps?) that the main figure is a lot dark than it actually is. resultingly i kind of can't see the costuming details too clearly. does this make sense? i'm working on an avengers forever piece that has a sorta gradient background (light center to dark edge) and I had to adjust the brightness/lighting on my Captain Marvel manip because the background lighting screwed with his appearance within the context of the picture.
storm - the darkness of lighting works well with the brightness of eyes. one thing you might try playing with is the smudging tool (or whatever its called in ps) to give a smoother texture to the skin, particularly around the throat/neck area. the rough shading in that area gives the slight appearance that she has turkey neck (wrinkly excess of neck skin).
school's out - good realistic clothing details. one hand looks like it might be proportionately bigger than the other...
clown - when you "desaurate" something to give it a gray/ b&w appearance, i would suggest compensating by using the dodge tool and brighten up areas and even adding back a hint of blue/purple hue to give it some depth. the other option is to not desaturate all the way (80-90%?). Here's an example: http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=11738&f_ssn=
sentinels - you did a good job blending the two elements - drawing and photo. i might suggest some frankensteining to make it look less like the sentinels all came from the same base image.
lionO - i really like this, great clean coloring. the border around the gradient of the hangle doesn't look as crisp/clean as the rest of the image. i guess my only suggestion is that the lens flare isn't actually connected to anything - sword, background, bit of metal - its just sort of floating in mid-air.
superman - beyouteful. drawings no longer my forte so i dunno what suggestions i can really make...
punisher - i like the way the different images/layers interact and the textures are cool. the aspect i like least is that pink head with blurry mouth. i think the fliters were too heavy on that one cause i can't tell what it is anymore...
force - some good clean costuming elements (gun, epaulets). in some areas it still looks like painted body (versus clothed body). particularly the check and leg areas where there is still the greatest amount of musculature detail retained from the original image. do you know what i mean? its like, instead of looking like a guy wearing clothing over his nekkid body it kind of looks like a nekkid body that's been painted over.
cap'n america - good frankensteining of a lot of dif. pics. one thing when you're frankensteining from a bun of different pics is lighting and brightness/contrast issues come up. in this one, the blue of the leg under the sheild looks lighter than the other leg and the torso (which has a lot more dark blue/black).
lenore - good job plugging up/cleaning the dorian grey hole. i'm not sure what that white glow is on her back leg - perhaps true the 'cloning' tool to pack that up. also have you tried 'outer glow' before? might look good for that hand.
neo - mmmmmmister jemstone...i mean anderson. looks good, i think you could definitely fill in for keanu for matrix 4: the monster of milpitas. i hope you went around on halloween speaking awkward phrases in emotionless and oddly emphasized tones.
**ahhh, gotta hurry, boss is in!**
spideybone - sounds like an awesome costume. do you have any close up pics or unaltered ones? you should wear them to fight crime some time...
scarecrow - bitchin', bro! how many people got that you were comic scarecrow and not like your average farm grown varierty? too bad i already cast you as robin at Gotham U...
wolverine - coolness. so how high did you get your hair (i can't see from the darkness of the background)? you look a lot older than the pick i got for your x-mas in your july pic...
samise - go samwise, its your birthday, go samise...that's my bedroom btw. its theme is comic art, hawaiian kitsch, and paul frank.

In fact, I did. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
I was going to dress up for Revolutions, last night, but none of the people I was going with dressed up like they were supposed to, so I bowed out of the cassock wearin' tomfoolery.
And you know, a lot of people say that Keanu is a bad actor... I say he's perfect for roles like Jonny Mnemonic and Neo, because, like Keanu Reeves, those roles are more machine than man...

Hey Kev, I noticed in your picture that pile of those stuffed superheroes you get in skill cranes....do you collect those? I do, and I thought we had a lot but that looks like quite a heap! I have two WWs, 1 Elektra, 1 Storm, 1 Cap, 1 Spidey, 1 Hulk, and 1 Batman. Soon I must devise a plan to find a person with either plastic man or ant man like powers to get me more of them!

hey wwg,
i LOVE the skill crane games (we call 'em the grabber or the CLAW)! they're generally addictive but man, when i saw that there were superhero plushes in them, i nearly soiled myself. i've got: ultimate wolverine, non-movie hulk, movie spiderman, punisher, sabertooth, ultimate cyclops, thor, captain america, iron man, a smaller sized venom, and green goblin (and batman and flash from the WB store). the company that makes them sold them at san diego con so i picked a few up there too. ones i don't have that i know exist: daredevil, elektra, magneto, storm. there's like two versions of the x-men ones - ultimate x-men and x-men animated - which storm do you have? i also saw at san diego that there are these cooler 90s animated x-men plushes that were produced in the mid 90s as a japanese exlusive - beast, cyke, gambit!!!, jubilee, jean grey (i think?) prof X in chair, and a couple of others. i would have totally got them but the guy was asking $20-35 EACH! i'll keep an eye out for ones you don't have. last time i went i saw iron man and wolverine (which i already had so didn't get)...

If I had a digital camera I would take more pictures... maybe I can get one for x-mas... but I did what I could with my friend's pic and the unaltered pic is darker and such...
I guess its either good or bad that Austin has such a low crime rate... so I don't have to go out and save the city... also there is a lack of tall buildings (save for the UT Tower) so Spidey would get bored... and probably end up taking the bus.
Thanks for the props kev!

Kevin Newburn's Deadpool - Inked & Colored
by localhero
Awesome job Lh. Your colouring is becoming pretty fantastic. Note the 'u' http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif The good parts: Well you've got the blending betwen muscles really well done. It's soft and smooth but not too sharp. That said the lower abs and the forearms are a little off. The lower abs shouldn't be circular. They should be more like half of an upturned isosceles triangle. IN Kev's original sketch the bottom of those two muscles isn't pronounced, because it fades directly into a flat patch. It's pretty impossible to get a circular definition on them. See this dude. http://www.muscle-fitness.co.uk/sei/s/526/214.jpg Other than that the only two things that bug me are the black lines, and the textures. The texture looks too uniform and flat. Try manually deleting the parts where the muscle presses against it hardest, the chets, bicep and shoulders. Use a feathered selection. As for the black lines, use a gaussian blur to get them a bit softer or else, just select them and darken the area (after feathering). Sweet picture of everyones fave Weapon X candidate. Oh yeah, and you should have left the small excess of material on the top of his mask http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif
storm
by domino
Nice try with the colouring, you've managed to get the skin tones down well. I don't know how well the sketch turned out, but I'd say you were much stronger wiht the colouring. I can't draw to save myself, so I'm not too great on advice, but I'd say try mimicing photos and other sketches and you'll improve quick. I think this picture mainly suffers from a lack of definition. Don't be affraid of dark stark shadows. especially not when you're playing with light. The eye glow is something I can help with! If you think about the shape of the eye you'll get a more realistic glow. The top of the eye is covered by the brow, whereas the bottom and sides are wide open. So if you imagine a bulb in the eye you should get a better picture as to how the inteinsity of the light will vary around different sections. For a simple effect though, just lasso around the eye, feather it a little, and the take a little off the top and feather it some more. Now add the glow. Good luck!
School's Out For The Weekend
by Spiderman620815
Not too sure whom this is supposed to be. Nice job on the persepective it gives the pict a very free and relieved feel that goes well with the schools out theme. You might want to do a little more work on the legs, as they stick out as the main weak point. They're just too long and that makes them seem really skinny and just throws off the whole picture. The outfit is well done (tho I personally like a girl with something to hide) and you've managed to be influenced by Manga whilst not becoming it. You've obvioulsy got a good eye for flow as the jacket falls well. THe only other thing I'd like to see is a biggerr scene. Something more than just a simple shot.
Clown and his Harlequin
by Sonic1002
Great concept, and you did well grabbing theis frame. You've done well colouring both the hair and skin. The hair looks bright but not garish and manages to look pretty realistic. The skin also manages to look more like grease paint than simply colourized skin. Or should that be desaturized. But then you let itall down by stopping there. Come on dude, you could have made use of one of the many smooth tutorials here, or whipped up a scene anything. This pict annoys me because you could have made it great but you stopped halfway. I suggest you do it again. Smooth the pict out. Make it into a better scene and jazz up their clothes. It'd make a great faux Magazine pict if you just put in a little more effort.
X2 DVD SPOILER
by siddhartha
Ooooooooo. They are very cool. And don't sell youreself short, you chose a cool background and added them rreally well. Chuck in some shadows and it'd be a cool scene.
Lin-o
by lordmesa:
I love your style. It's got common elements to Ed McGuiness, and yet is all on its own as it doesn't shy away from it's cartoony-ness. It's perfect for Thundercats, heman and every 80's cartoon on earth, as it rams home the cartoon aspect that made us love those shows. So only two things. I'd move the sword out of his eyes, lets see the man!And I'd make his eyebrows less detached. Otehrwise great job.
Preliminary study
by stevestanley
Superb. I didn't see this when I first looked round, but the fac that your a pro really shows. You've brought your own take on superman and it looks great. Somewhat 80's esque but I'll fogrive you http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif. Your realistic style works well here showing his attitude and still looking good. Both colouring (did you use pastells?) and line work are spot on, and I can't wait to see more. My only suggestion would be to remove the background on the S-logo. Great work, really.
Punisher Tease, version 2
by eceDrihten
It's a cool poster and you've managed to capture the punisher style. The mixing of Castle and text works well, but Travlota doesn't work. He comes off looking more like the famous photo of Yeti (to me). I don't quite know how you'd go about fixing this, as I agree that there should be something in that space. Possibly just a different angle of head? Also try using a black outline on the text so that it's a little easier to read. Try the black completly visible and then slowly lower the transparencies. Otherwise great work, the blotting looks perfect.
General Force
by MysticMorgan
Wow. Superb costuming. The pose is great; he looks regimental controlled, but retains attitude. The cosutming is, as I said, superb. It comes to the fore on the abs where just enough definition is given to make the material plausible whilst still showing off a great physique. I think its maybe a bit too tight around the chest, and it would've been a good opportunity to show off some folds by having the material looser. The belt needs osme definition, it looks a little too much like a buckle has just been slapped on. I think that's due to the way the pants run straight into the top. An edge would've made all the differnce. Either tuck the top into the pants (best option) or leave the top loose over. Ethier way there needs to be some shadows. This problem kicks up again at the arms. It seems like there should be a bigger or stronger shadow at the edge. same again for the gloves and mask. Also a small thing that you might not have noticed if you're working during the day, but along the neck there's a change in tone. It's a small thing, but you're really close to jumping up another level so pay attention. Some other things...etheir give it a more action packed background or make it part of a series. Once again superb.
Captain America
by KAZ
Well congrats, you managed to peice together this picture perfectly.I'm having great difficulty guessing which peices came from where. But I'll tell you what gives it away. The contrasts on the reds. Note how the bright red of the costume stands out against the dark red of the boots and gloves. Another thing you might want to try is to select the bright shiny chest and use the highlights/midtones/shadows option to lower the highlights. It should make things blend better. If you want. Personally I love your pict as it is. It's reall cool how obvious it is that it's brad pitt. All this pict needs is a good logo!
Ok I'm getting a bit tired so I'll whizz through these. Sorry if I seem harsh, I'm jsut being concise.
Original Char: Lenore Deloncre
by lenore_deloncre
Ok, first off dont' be affraid of sharp edges. Blur all you want but then use a lasso to cut off the blur where it's not neccessary. On the right of the dress here. The hair looks great. The definition onthe hand is gone, but that's allways a problem when you add a glow. Try setting the layer to overlay. All you need to do now is match the lighting. Add a big shadow. Lower the contrast. YOu'll get there in no time.
