Scifi.com caught a quick interview with Joss Whedon who has just about completed the script for the feature film version of Wonder Woman (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=34941)
Wonder Script Almost Done
Writer/director Joss Whedon told SCI FI Wire that he's probably going to turn in his script for the feature-film version of Wonder Woman sometime this coming week, and added that it will feature all of the expected gadgets and costume gimmicks from the DC Comics franchise. Whedon spoke in an interview at the star-studded Los Angeles premiere of Slither, which stars Whedon's Serenity star Nathan Fillion.
"I'm probably going to turn it in in a few days," Whedon said of his Wonder Woman script. "It's coming along. ... There will be all of the expected stuff. Of course there will be the bracelets; there will be the invisible jet, the lasso, all of that."
Whedon likened the character to another one of his creations, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, adding: "It's about girls maturing, a rite of passage, that kind of thing."
Whedon said it's too early to speculate on casting for the project. He will be turning the script in to Warner Brothers and hopes to begin production later this year.

I'm excited that they're finally getting her up on the big screen. I just hope they don't cast too young for this movie, unless he plans on going for an origin story. It is called Wonder Woman after all. Famke Jansen, Charlize Theron, Monica Belluci, maybe Scarlett Johnasson or Rachel Mcadams would work. And who knows, maybe once they get WW out, we'll finally get a Justice League movie.

Here's a teaser poster that made its way around news outlets last May. Pretty cool.

[UPDATE] Was just reading online, saw that Whedon might be considering Morena Baccarin for the part of Wondy (she plays Inara, the resident "companion" on Whedon's Firefly/Serenity, and also voices Black Canary on Justice League Unlimited(!) ).

:jump: I just saw on CNN Headline News, Entertainment, that they have picked someone to play Wonder Woman. I didn't catch who it was; I caught the tale-end of the story. I went to CNN website, but it had not been updated since this morning.

I don't think they've actually picked someone, just saying that Kate Beckinsale is in the running.

LOCATION: Saturn Awards
THE SKINNY: Joss Whedon was on hand at last night’s Saturn Awards in Los Angeles, accepting an award for his SERENITY actress Summer Glau. Whedon, the creator and writer of many things including BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL, FIREFLY, and SERENITY is currently working on a script for WONDER WOMAN. Here’s what he told iF MAGAZINE about his progress on that job:
“It’s sort of shifting under me," says Whedon. "I’m doing more rewriting on this than I am used to. Finding her was fun, and finding the structure of the film was incredibly difficult and fun. I am not bringing in any villains that anyone knows. I will not be bringing in any of the rogues gallery from the comic book. The villain is original to the film.”

Maybe Jennifer from 10 years ago but not now. I was so hoping Kate. Oh well, as long as it's not that Bollywood chick I am cool.

Actually I think "the bollywood chick" makes more sense than any of the names that have been thrown around.

Gotta be someone with tits, and someone who can be convincingly athletic. Moreena Backarin would be a good pick, considering Whedon has said that for Wonder Woman, he doesn't want a big name. Outside the Whedon Fandom, few know of her.

Which "Bollywood chick" are you referring to?
Many of the world's most beautiful women come from South Asia. Why shouldn't WW be portrayed by an Indo-Pakistani actress?

are they looking for a teen or an woman in her mid or early 20's.
what i mean is are they looking for the justice league unlimited version: naive, and innocent or the now worldy comic book version?:dunno:
We need an actress with young katleen turner legs, the height of her as well and the acting skills of lucy lawless and and merrly streep i think... wait the vote is still out for me on this.:dunno:

What we need is Adrienne Wilkinson who played Xena's daughter Livia/Eve. She has the right looks, acting talent and costuming will make her seem athletic. A lot of women who play warrior types are actually very thin and not that convincing if you take a goo look at them. Lawless, Hudson Leick, Angelina Jolie, Beckinsale, Gellar... hard to believe any of them could throw a powerful punch with those skinny arms. So clearly, we can be fooled on that part.
Adrienne Wilkinson!
Looks don't mean anything. Gellar had 9 years of martial arts before she even started on Buffy.

So what? She was reasonably thin when they started and outright skinny in the last few year. I didn't say anything about her martial skills. I said she didn't look strong. If the show's conceit hadn't involved supernatural strength and she hadn't had all those capable stunt doubles, it would have been ridiculous.
Charisma Carpenter looked believable.
