Sage 2 by show_u_who_i_am- Nice effects. A little art experimentation is always fun to see.

Buster Witwicky: Hide & Sneak by DAVID GUIVANT- Living charicters. Cool.

Hydroman by wolfsfang- Wow. What a drip. Get it? Ha! Anyway, good piece. Great whater effect.

Dr. Strange Sketch by Junkyard- I think this is pretty good, and it could have gotten better, but I stopped drawing at some point, and whatever skills I have have atrophied. I'm re- teaching myself, but it's going slow.

Superman 09-11 by walta- Nice tribute.

Thunderjolt Ray by sirhx- Art's good, and the concept looks pretty flippin' cool.

A Gathering Of Evil by Welshcat- You, Welshcat, have outdone yourself this time. Seamless, colorful, and alive. Wow.

Isis by perplexigon- Pretty good, but I personally would have used less backround.

Hulk Vs. Superman by fanboy1171- This is a cool style. Quite nice.

Jerrica/jem Transformation by Psylockegirl- Costuming is pretty good, change effects are well done. Overall, good piece.

Wolvie Femmes Oc Hayley by Winnietapooh- Good costuming. Sharp eye on the wrinkles.

Bday Gift April 3,2004 - Karate Kid by Lady D- Pretty good. A tad out of proportion, but good tunic.

Batman by batmanfan123- Pretty good. You're getting better as you go. Good use of individual pieces.

Hellboy by vegeton- Pretty good. I'd have made it smaller, but it didn't really lose that much.

Dawn By Kevin Newburn Coloured by Winterhawk- Nice recolor. Not overdone, but detailed enough.

Frisco The Fifth Turtle by lordmesa- Nice drawing. Good colors.

A good update, overall.

Good update today. No time whatsoever for a full UIR, but I just had to comment on one particular piece...

A Gathering Of Evil by Welshcat
Awesome piece, as always. Not quite your best, to be honest, (though considering the truly amazing work you've done, there's some very hefty competition for that title!) but awesome. It just isn't IMO quite as spectacular as, say, your recent Galactus piece. Among others. Still miles better than just about everyone else's work, of course... Great costuming, especially the (as usual) gorgeous metal work, and very nice poses. I like Hawkeye best, its a cool pose and really good manipping. The anatomy of a few characters gets rather weird around the shoulders... I'm looking at Tiger Shark and Scorpion in particular. They just look wrong, to my eyes. That's the one body part that seems to be the easiest to screw up in Poser, for some reason. Still, awesome piece overall (duh!), and my favourite of the update.

Quick shoutouts for some really nice work from Lady D, Winterhawk, and lordmesa as well, but I've gotta go now! Sorry!

Sage 2 by show_u_who_i_am -Nice blending and effects work.

Buster Witwicky: Hide & Sneak by DAVID GUIVANT -There's something that just doesn't work here and I can't put my finger on it...

Hydroman by wolfsfang -Good effect! Blur the edges tho...

Superman 09-11 by walta-Love it!

Thunderjolt Ray by sirhx -Also love it, great lighting work!

A Gathering Of Evil by Welshcat -Not your best, but still top notch.

Isis by perplexigon -Good frankensteining, nut use the burn tool to darker Angolina's skin to match her body.

I just wanted to thank Lady D (who's birthday is just days away!!!) for remembering my birthday! Its awesome sweety, thanks!

Oh and I wanted to make special mention of the evil gathering Welshy has assembled. Posered bodies have a tendency to have an artificial stiffness to them that instantly identifies them as Poser products. I think you did a good job of adding realism to the Poser-based bodies.

i stated the other day i was looking for ways to spice up the UIRs....well i coudn't really think of anyway to do that, well other than no significant art notes, no uir for you, sorry...but this will allow me to put the effort into the people that were kind enought to spend some time on describing what was done. the only thing i thought of was to be a little more critical and honest in my uir's. sometimes i'm just polite for the sake of being polite. artists will beg for more uir's yet will not do any, that's hypocritical. i don't care if your a newbie or a senior artist, your opinion is respected and is welcome anytime. if an artist gets bent out of shape on your opinion, trust me it will happen, don't sweat it....first i'll back you up, second...it's just criticism, it's meant to help the artist. anyway....with all of that said and out there....here we go, my new style of UIRs.

sage 2: do you only do work that has an eye effect of some sort? sorry, i looked at your gallery and it's an eye effect showpiece, some being better than others. really on this piece what did you do, yeah there are clouds, makeup and a lensflare...but no x logo (i think she's from xtreme xmen). don't get me wrong...your effects are good (learn to use the linear dodge and color dodge outer glows for your effects, you'll be pleasantly surprised)....but i think your ready for that next step. try the little things on your next piece....logos, correct coloring of costumes, attempt your own costuming, some text....you know something different from your norm.

hydroman: have you seen light pass thru water and cast that weird shadow, some dark areas, but some brilliant spots of wavery lighting...that would have been a cool effect to try on the shadow. i also think some sparkling instances of water would have been neat to see on the body. you've got a nice above average water effect for such an early on in your career piece. the face is really odd, the chrome effect will do that (and yes i did see your comments on the face). i don't know of a quick way to make a water face, but i think a defined face is somthing to challenge yourself on. if you want to keep that defintion, drop a copy of the face behind the water layer, lower the opacity of the face, switch the blending mode ot color or something like that and then use the dodge and burn tools to bring out the defintion in areas. does that work, i have no idea....i'm just taking a look at it thinking of a way to accomplish the effect. again, nice effect...keep up the good work.

dr strange: i can't draw this good and i'm 29. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/frown.gif

sites acting up....be back to finish later.

show_u_who_i_am - nice effects. Not much more. Nothing less.

David Guivant - as i said, i love Your stuff, but there's not much going on on those Transformers pieces of Yours. More human characters !

wolfsfang - pretty cool. You could have put some more thought into composition, but water effect itself is very nice.

Junkyard - of course, proportions are all whacked and whatnot, but hey, i can't do much better than that. And i'm an old ass.

walta - depending on how You made this picture, it may be either very good or very cheap. It doesn't look like a simple cut'n'paste though, so i assume it's good.

sirhx - very cool effects, and nice concept. I said it before and i'll say it again - i can't do half the things You guys do with graphic software.

Welschcat - don't take it personally, 'cause it's meant to be a compliment - You came quite a long way since Your cheesy 70s Iron Man pieces. You've become a major 'playah' and are one of my favorite artists here.

perplexigon - skintones are all worng, belt is out of focus, Angelina herself is kinda blocky - i can see a lot of simalirities between our work http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif There's a lot of potential in You, brother. Keep it up (i don't mean to sound like an asshole, i do realize that i have a lot of catching up to do).

fanboy1171 - i'm a sucker for traiditional art, and once againg, You won me over. Fantastic.

Psylockegirl - very nice coloring - You have quite a talent. Still, the clothing is not perfect, so keep practicing. I'm looking forward to Your next pieces.

Wiinietapooh - You're good with costumes. Fire effect is pretty cool too.

Lady D - i think You made kev_incal a very happy man with this solid piece.

batmanfan123 - i can't wait for another big superhero movie to come out, so there will be another template. Since that photo was shown to public, poor Daredevil was probably mutated into every existing hero. As to the piece itself - the cape doesn't look very good and the mask is strange. Boots are badly done too - You can see DD's legs behind them. Also, the belt is too big. In the future try not to rush things, and be a little bit more thorough. Think twice, before You change something. I can see a lot of energy in Your works - just try to condense it and put it to a good use.

vegeton - Not bad, but i think You should have gone fore a more painty look. Also, no offense, but couldn't You made the picture a wee bit smaller ?

Winterhawk - solid job. Not really spectacular, but nice, solid job.

lordemsa - i adore Your pictures. Really adore them. Keep up the good work.

uir pt 2

a gathering of evil: i have to agree with B, it's good, it's just not your best. of course, far better than anything i could do. i'll start with the two main elements in my opinion, she hulk and tigershark. i love the body and muscle work on she hulk. nice fabric and i'm amazed it's still on her. to me, her fists seem a little small....maybe it's the perspective. i like the hair, however it seems it could use some multiple layering....it just helps give it depth (as i've messed around with that technique i've learned that layering it really helps...also watch your stroke work on dodge and burning. also give her a couple of fly away hairs using a 1 pixel hard brush...i think a few strands would give it that wind blown style look). a nice color job on her skin...and nice highlights. on to tigershark...i love the feel of that costume. any oh yeah, great work on the costume, it looks great. beautiful scene, great overall look and feel. nice work on moonstone, i would like a lightning touch to thors hammer, great work on whirlwind. i love that comment "...standard Iron Man-style armouring..." like it's an easy thing. great work welsh....truly an inspiration to my freshly started scene.

isis: match up the skin tones, either by levels, brightness, contrast, or match color.

hulk vs. superman: i love that style...there is something about it that is different and cool. nice grass work. not as strong as your mr freeze pic, but this is still cool.

jerrica/jem: you've missed some hair in the recolor...but i like the recolor color. other than just some changed hair and outfit...try a whole supermodel makeover on the face. maybe some glitter eye makeup, make the eyes glisten (try using the dodge tool and set it to highlights) and really be a spectacle. any of my skin cleanup tutorials are quick and easy ways to get that supermodel look. if you want to do it right, and i think your ready....your skills just need the polish try this intermediate tutorial, it's done in photoshop
http://photoshopgurus.info/intermediate/photo_makeover/photo_makeover.shtml

dawn: nice color work. kev's a great artist and you've turned out a great version. i think some more touches with the dodge tool (i just love the dodge tool) to make the colors pop a little more would be a nice touch. i like how you warmed the skin with the dodge tool. i like the animated look that you went for. nice work, i think a fine addition to your gallery.

frisco: your easy to uir.....friggin awesome! i love how you create perspectives.

Thanks for the comments and feedback. I hope I haven't set a precedent with my Fantastic Four picture that now everyone expects that all my scenes should be on that scale. That would be a killer. My Avengers pic was a slightly smaller scale pic as you can see from the quiet, private mansion background, and was just a filler in between the FF and my Sinister Six pic (another big pic, in the gallery queue at the moment). I really need to do smaller pics in between these epic spectacles, otherwise it's too much of a strain on the eyes and everything else, and way too time consuming, so expect a few more of these.

PS - Dperceful, what exactly am I to be watching for the dodge and burn on the strokework? I think regular coloured hair is easier than odd colours like green.

oops. sometimes when i use that technique my strokework would cross over (in a different direction) with other other pre-exisiting strokes that were laid down. basically all i meant was make sure you keep the stroke going the same way. i found if you want to create some hair going a different direction a new layer of that hair is helpful to achieve the look. of course that's just me.
