View Full Version : Sigh... Another Theme Day Idea: Circa Whatever
Junkyard

Just adding mine to the stack.
How about this theme day?
Whoever wants to participate would take a modern hero and place them in a different time setting, adjusting their costumes and gadgets acordingly.
This can include any comic book charicters you want, be them DC and Marvel, or anime and small press.
For an example, an ancient Greek Batman, with a greek-ish costume and a cool chariot.
Or an Industrial Revolution "Ghost In The Shell." (Dibs!)
Charicters created in the last ten years would be especially interesting!
Who would be interested?
Well I could potentially be interested in this, depending on whether or not I ever finish a piece I've been working on for years. If I do get it finished I might just release it as part of this. Otherwise, I can't say as of yet. When would you be thinking of having the deadline? Anytime soon?

I'm thinking... May 1st for the deadline? We have a few Themes in line already.
Just put "***** 'Whatever Hero' Circa "Whatever Year'" as the title.
Will that work?

Oh, and as soon as you know what era you're doing, post it here. That way, we can avoid everybody doing a greek or western version.
Oh, and I've changed my mind about the "Ghost in the Machine" piece, but I'm still going to do the Industrial Revolution.
Good idea. I actually suggested something similar in the Theme Day thread, but it never took off. Ah, well. I doubt I'll have time to contribute anyway... too much other stuff to do. It still gets my vote though, cause I wanna see what other people do for it. (Welshcat, this means you!)
Shouldn't all these theme day ideas be in the Theme Day thread though...?

The sad truth is, putting them all in one folder seems to be the easiest way to forget about them. It's almost like people see it as a folder of "What If...?" senarios.
You're probably right, actually... I oughta dust off a couple ideas and bring them up separately. Later though, no time to work on them now.

We did this theme day a while back, and it was fun and had one of the better turn outs (so no reason for it not to have a second go).
Here's a link to the entries last time, it was called 'Flunking History'.

So, has anyone chosen an Era yet?

Is someone choosing ONE era for everybody? I hope not. I'd rather we can choose our own.

I think waiting until the display date to see the eras would be more fun IMO. Telling what you're doing in here kind of takes away the fun and surprise of the final piece. So what if there are 2 or 3 ancient roman pics? They aren't going to be the exact same pic, so they will still be neat to look at. But thats just my opinion.

I'm saying everyone should pick their own eras.
As for not revealing the eras- I guess it's up to you. I'd just prefer that not everybody does the same thing.
Oh well. There are enough time frames to pretty much ensure that everybody picks a different one.

"Charicters created in the last ten years would be especially interesting!"
I have a problem with this. I was thinking on this theme during the last week and I had a good idea but the character is older than that one demanded.
Would you aprove it?
Junkyard

Oh, jeez, sure. I was just making a suggestion.
In fact, the charicter I'm using was created way back in the late 60's.

Oh, yeah, a few people HAVE signed up, and are probably hard at work on them. I just had the amusing thought,
"What if we threw a Theme Day and nobody came?"
By the way Jedi Knight Jo Paskle, if you were already working on it and decided to abort, remember we'd all still like to see your ideas, whenever you get to it.
