Selective UIR, due to time.
DD: Blind Justice by ali786: very nice picture. I really like it. The details are very well done. The hand reaching for the glasses seems a little misshaped and strange to me but only a little bit. Other then that this is top-notch stuff. Good work.
Lobo by siddhartha: I donít know, it is OK, not great. I am not sure why, you have manipulated it well. The white of his face doesnít match up to the rest of his skin, most likely because of the tattoos. I will give you credit for adding in a lot of details, but I think that composition wise the picture seems unbalanced. The left hand side is much more full and busy, with lots of things to look at and the right hand side has part of his space bike and a dumpster (mind you the background as a whole is pretty drab.) Since Lobo spends most of his time in space bouncing from world to world a sci-fi background would have been nice. As I said the picture is average, nothing more nothing less.
Batman: The Sequel! by dsimpsons1: Batmanís cowl looks pretty darn good. I think the joker needs a bit more work; the mouth just looks a little strange to me. And some additional highlights and shading on the joker to match the batman side would have helped. Good work.
Nick Fury by Jagboy: Nice picture, well drawn, in the last comic I read with in it, He looked kind of like Sam Jackson.
Phoenix rising... by digitized: I really like the background the flames look great. I also like her hair. Her costume on the other hand looks very flat and lacks any details. I can tell that you put in some highlights and shading into this but the donít have enough contrast and tend to blend together a little too much. Also that belt is very 2d and really makes the rest of her costume look 2d as well. Some additional details such as wrinkles, seams, & drop shadows. Would have really improved this picture.
Les Vampyres: Hero Portrait by devilbunny: Cool. Favourite pic of the update, with out a doubt. I Love your work by the way I am a big fan.
Nova by Ed Hopkins: Good job. I like the fumes and streaks that the flames are leaving behind, they look great. The flames themselves look pretty good, I would have liked to have seen a bit more detail in her face but that is just a minor nitpick. Overall great pic. Good job.
I dont suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.
Supermeg by cmeza
Is there really a point in me UIRing this?
Superfriends by The Comedian
Pretty good cut-n-paste, but the lighting still doesn't match and the background's incredibly grainy. Nice work recolouring Bats.
Dd: Blind Justice by ali786
Fine work, as usual. The face is beautifully done. You always do faces really well, in fact, kudos for that. The glasses look great. The suit's also very nice, with great wrinkles. I think the shoulder should probably be a bit higher up though. Also, the neck looks sort of bulgy. The main problem though, is the hands... The hand on the cane is great, but the other one's way too bendy. The fingers should be mostly straight, and bend only at the joints. Instead they're curved throughout. The middle fingers look a bit too long, as well. That's actually, I think, the one most common problem in your from-scratch pics... the hands. I realize they're very difficult to create from scratch (whether drawing, painting, in Photoshop, or whatever), but you do, fortunately, have some great models at the ends of your arms! Still, a very good piece despite my complaints. Thumbs up!
Spider-girl Movie by BlueScreen
That drawing (or painting) of Spider-Girl is great, very nice work. Hilary's okay. Nice try on the hair, but it needs more highlights and less sharply defined edges. If her hair's blowing around like that, it's unlikely to be all clumped together!
Lobo by siddhartha
I agree with Winterhawk, this is more average than anything else. I actually think you've added too much to Lobo, it makes the piece look very cluttered. The actual manipping is good, though the skin tones are indeed mismatched (and very monochrome, you could add some faint blues or yellows to create a more realistic skin tone!), and his hair could use some more detail.
Batman: The Sequel! by dsimpsons1
Yup, Bats' cowl is awesome. Great work on that. And the lighting on that half of the pic is awesome, really great stuff. Joker is indeed a bit bleh in comparison (good casting though!). I think it would look better with a straight on pic of Buscemi, mirroring that of Bale, with similar lighting. The mouth is indeed weird, not quite sure why, and the edge of his face is kind of jagged. I think his hair could use some more highlights, also. Great skin tone though.
Jla by mac10
Great piece, as usual. I knew I recognized it from somewhere, so I dug up the original in your gallery. (You should probably have told us it was there, mind you!) This is a definite improvement, particularly the necks, which look far more realistic. Except for the neck of, uh, that guy in the lower right hand corner, whoever he is. His lips are also a bit odd. Bats looks really good. There's no real problems with this, IMO, though your faces still all look very similar.
Sailor Mercury-soldier Of Water by tenchichan
The water effects are rather nice, and the colouring's quite good. But the actual drawing is just so-so. The lines are really bumpy and messy -- remember, kids, anti-aliasing is your friend! And the left arm/hand looks really misshapen, while the right is too small.
The Eyes Of The Moon by x-men-files-fanof2005
Damn cool background. Decent collage, quite well put together. The layout's odd though... the pic of Wolvie at the bottom seems out of place, it doesn't really fit in properly. It's less blue and more opaque than the rest of the piece, and the shape is too square.
Nick Fury By Jagboy by jagboy
Welcome to the DCG! Great debut! Very cool. Great drawing, I love the stipple effect. Awesome colouring as well, particularly the lighting. All this needs is some smoke from that cigar. BTW, the regular universe Fury still looks like this, the Sam Jacksonalike is the Ultimate version. You can check out Secret War for a recent mainstream Marvel appearance. (Or just for the awesome Brian Michael Bendis writing.)
Batman by Superman20
Nice drawing, as usual. The bleached-out look of the face is still very distracting, though, you'd be better off using the same kind of inking throughout. But then, you're not actually reading this, are you?
Dragon Slayer ? by mr e
Good painting, though the dragon slayer's face still looks weird. The lips are huge. The dragon is really, really cool.
Phoenix Rising... by digitized
Pretty good piece. Cool background, and decent costuming. It definitely needs more shadows and details, though. I think Winterhawk's pretty much covered the flaws.
Les Vampyres: Hero Portrait by devilbunny
Favourite pic of the day, of course. I think it might just be a universal law that anything of yours will be my favourite pic of that particular day. I have yet to note a counterexample to that statement. Absolutely awesome. I mean, just look at the awesome detail work! The design of those costumes is gorgeous. And the colouring is great as well, very nice skin tones. The lighting is wonderful. I think the suits could probably use more highlights, though. They're kind of underlit in comparison to the faces, but the highlights already on them indicate they're supposed to be at least somewhat shiny. I dunno. Still, an awesome piece. As always.
Nova by Ed Hopkins
Very good piece, though I think you've done better. First off, an awesome pose. I now know where to look for base pics of flying characters, note to self. The flames look quite good, particularly the exhaust trail. Frankie herself looks good as well, I love the reflections in the black parts -- great detail! I'm not a huge fan of the outline around her, though. My main problem, however, is that the piece is too dim. It should IMO be a lot brighter. Nova should be glowing as bright as, well, as a supernova. She should have a lot more highlights, and I think the center of the flames around her should be white. Still, this is a very good piece overall. Thumbs up.

[b]Supermeg by cmeza -- Absolutely nothing new about this and I hate to say this but is it really a good thing when your first submission is your best?
Superfriends by The Comedian -- Really nice recolor on Batman. And a fun concept. As B mentioned the lighting is all over the place.
Dd: Blind Justice by ali786 -- Lovely piece and well deserving of front page status. And I love the subtle DD in costume shadow on the wall. I only see two very tiny problems... The hands mentioned by B and for me the hair color is just a bit too unrealistic. Its a bit too "red" to be red/auburn hair I think its tone should be a little bit more into the orange/brown range if you were going for a natural hair color.
Nymph by show_u_who_i_am -- Yet another recolor.... the aurora-like effect is nicely done but doesn't really work to simulate water. It should be all in shades of blues and greens and be a whole lot more transparent.
Spider-girl Movie by BlueScreen -- Nice drawing of Spidergirl and the recolor on the hair is pretty good for a first time.. a bit clumpy as B mentioned but otherwise not bad.. One other suggestion would have been to put the drawing behind Hillary so she isn't obscured by the image.
Lobo by siddhartha -- This is a really well done piece but it sufferes from information overload. There is just a bit too much going on and much of the added pieces sort of stick out... One specific is the added tattoos the bloody heart stands out as an obvious add as do the hero logo tats... My personal suggestion and I know it would have been a bear to do would have been to subtly colorize the original tattoos with just a hint of color to offset the pallor of his skin.
Batman: The Sequel! by dsimpsons1 -- The work on Bat's cowl is wonderful and since B touched on the other points I would have I won't repeat them.
Jla by mac10 -- Really nice improvement... I really love how you did Diana's hair.and I love the composition of the piece.
Sailor Mercury-soldier Of Water by tenchichan -- A decent drawing hampered by pixelation/anti-aliasing problems. The water background is really nice.
The Eyes Of The Moon by x-men-files-fanof2005 -- A really gorgeous collaging piece. I agree with B that the very bottom middle image seems a bit out of place and personally I would have just left it out altogether. One other minor thing is that both of the pics of Rogue are abruptly chopped off at the tops while both of Logan continue and include all of his hair. If you could have extended the hair of Rogue it would help a bit with the symmetry. I love the very subtle Jean in the sky.
Nick Fury By Jagboy by jagboy -- Awesome piece for a debut. I love this style and the coloring is great.... Welcome to the DCG!
Batman by Superman20 -- Nice drawing but the rendering of the shadows on the face and cowl seem a bit wonky... There is a very harsh shadow on the screen right side right next to a bright reflection. And the lighter shading on the face is distracting.
Dragon Slayer ? by mr e -- The dragon and the body of the slayer are very well done and musculature in the legs is rendered beautifully. Unfortunatly the face seems very masculine to me...I'm not sure why.
Phoenix Rising... by digitized -- The hair and face on this are really nice.. But the bodysuit comes off as very flat. If you haven't you might want to check out the art school tutorials... there are some great tips on costuming both from nudes and how to create your own virtual nudes from clothed models.
Les Vampyres: Hero Portrait by devilbunny -- I always love seeing your work... It is such a cool and unique style and beatifully rendered as well. I love the costume designs... Fave pic of the day and good luck with your proposal
Nova by Ed Hopkins -- I really like the style and design on this. The glowing effect is well done... Her "hair" line seems a bit abrupt though.. I'm not familiar with the character so but it seems the edge of the fire/hair seems a bit sharp for hair or even a fire trail. Still really well rendered effect.

thanks for the comments, always helpful to get feedback...yeah hands (and legs) are not my strongest points sometimes but I'm trying to iron out the wrinkles..practice etc...I wasn't really going for photo-realism so hopefully that allows me afew anomalies http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
