Maybe someone can help me out here. I submitted some artwork on a super hero film that I'm doing called Turning Back. The artwork was a graphic art format, promo pictures, Logo, stuff like that.
They were all rejected and I was told that the guy in charge of the gallery wasn't interested in advertising my film for me.
I thought that was all that Comics 2 Film did was advertise super hero films. I mean it's called "comics to film" for crying out loud! I see fan based "conceptual" artwork for films that don't exist, or films in production and those are posted all over the place. So why can't I? Cause they won't post artwork for free if they can make a buck off of it! It's not right and if you agree with me, post a reply.
Check out "Turning Back" at WWW.dirtymonkeypictures.com (http://WWW.dirtymonkeypictures.com)

Hahahahaha....ahahahahahaha.....aah...

Yup, everything you said is absolutely true. What you don't seem to understand is that the Digital Concept Gallery is a place for artists to grow and flourish and experience other people's art as well. Why is it so hard to understand that the DCG is not the place to promote your film by submitting logos and promo pictures...? As you have been told both by me and by the site's creator, there are many ways for you to promote your film on this site, but the art gallery is not one of them.

It was still very nice of you to come here and post this nice little thread here, as you're apparently still sour about something I told you many weeks ago. However, if you hope to turn everybody against the "terrible person who rejected your image," don't get your hopes up. The regulars here have enough faith in me to know that I don't reject images on a whim.

You've just come off as an immature ass, really. Nice work.

Now, now. There's no need to take on an additude, Essex. You can remember I used to dispute nearly every reject until I figured out exactly what standards and limits the gallery held.

And Conboss, I visited your site to see what was what- Is the stuff in the Original Art link the stuff you submitted here? If so, I gotta say, a lot of it looks good, and the gallery's open to original concepts, but like Essex said, he'd prefer it not be used to host advertising campaigns.
And he's been forced to be more of a stickler than in the past, because the gallery has grown huge and bandwith- threatening. 320ks of pictures 3 days a week will do that.

On the other hand, this message board is a great place to get your word out to comic and movie fans.
Good luck, and don't hesitate to tell us when the thing comes out.

I agree with Essex. Can it not be but in the fan film box on front page or is it not downloadable?

Let me get this straight.

I just want to understand this fully.
First, what is "Graphic Art Format"?
Just curious, 'cuz I've never heard of it.

Second, you think that you stuff should be up because "it's called "comics to film" for crying out loud"

Um.. exactly what comic is your... film... from? Just curious, 'cuz I've never heard of it.

Third, you complain that C2F, Robbo and Essex "won't post artwork for free if they can make a buck off of it", and that they should post your stuff because they post stuff about films that don't exist, or films in production.

Just curious. Are you making the film for free? Do you plan on making any money from this, or is this just an excercize in "Look what I can do"?
If you are doing this as an "I had a good idea and want to make a film to show at Cons and online, for free", then yes, Essex is wrong in saying "the DCG is not the place to promote your film".

HOWEVER

If you plan on doing this as a business venture, to make a little money, maybe like a summer job, then, no, you need to advertise like any other money making venture. I don't see Mattell complaining that C2F make money from the picture of Barbie Catwoman.

In conclusion, if you want to make a go of this movie thing, please PLEASE learn how to behave in a professional manner and PLEASE learn what is involved with making, producing and marketing a film; stop whingeing when people don't give you stuff for free.

and, as a suggestion, don't ask anyone on this board to critique it for you...
trust me on this.

conboss: if you have a trailer or clip from the film on your website, please feel free to post a link to it in the C2F Cinema. This will be 100x better exposure for your movie than an entry in the DCG.

There are about 50 items posted in the DCG every week. There are 3-5 items posted in the Cinema every week. Can you see where that might be a little bit better exposure for you?

As far as making a buck off you? Wha? buh? huh?

No idea what you're talking about.

C2F struggles to make enough money to pay our bills each month. The inclusion or exclusion of your art has no impact on that.

At the end of the day, we are not obligated to extend our free services to you or anyone else. It is simply a privilege and we are completely confident in our right to decide what does and does not appear on this site, which we work our asses off to maintain.

Essex has clearly stated his case several times now. I'm sorry you don't like his answer, but it is final. Please move on.

For 1 thing having somthing rejected isn't the end of the world, heck, I've had stuff rejected here, but did I complain? NO! sure I crawled off to a dark corner to hide my face in shame, & beat my chest, & cry to the heavens WWWHHHYYY!!!!....O...->ehem<- This isn't about me is it?
but really I'm sure even the best artists here have had stuff rejected, but you rarely hear any body complain. It seems to me that Essex, & Robbo have provided you with some really good avenues for promoting your film, so you should use them, & be happy that you have them. 'Nuff said.
