I'm Confused by rainie19_2000
Maybe Picollo isn't really a pianist, but this is a damn good piece. Nicely drawn. The piano itself looks great, amazing work there. That... blurry thing on the piano... whatever it is... is really, well, blurry.

Original Concept: Captain Cardinal by Kombat Wombat
Another good installment in a fun series. Cool style, cool drawing, good colouring. Really nice lighting.

Mc2 What If Invisible Girl by BlueScreen
It's okay. Not your best. Nice backstory, and a cool design, though the head looks sort of weird... might look better if it showed the face. The gold doesn't really look that bright, it's sort of muddy.

Lord Lantern by sickboy_ukuk
Cool piece, nicely drawn and coloured. Nice halo, though I'd have made it spread out further. Main nitpick: his upper body looks completely grotesque and misshappen. It can't just be the angle, it's too off.

Batman /superman: World's Finest (poster) by joker21
Decent piece. Good collaging and layout. There's a number of problems, though. First, the layout, while good, could be improved immeasurably by putting Supes and Bats in similar poses, going for the mirror image effect. Second, the recolours all rather lack life. Take a look at Joker, for example: Dafoe's skin and clothing are all very uniform and dull in colour. They badly need some added highlights and shadows, as well as possibly some subtle hints of other colours. Much the same can be said of Supes' costume. It's very dark... too much so. And while on the subject of recolours, Joker's hair is rather chunky-looking, and part of his scalp under the hair has always been dyed. On another note, Day-Lewis (not my preferred casting, but YMMV), has too much hair for Lex. He should be bald as a whistle. No stubble.

Classic by Rungart
Good piece, with very nice lighting. Very very nice. But... Comment would be better... art notes are not your enemy. Since there are none, that's all you get.

Marvels: The Movies by stillhbk
Cool piece, nicely collaged. I think you point out the main weak points, Wolverine and the two logos.

X3: Dark Phoenix by transistor
Pretty good piece. Well collaged. The lighting is all over the place. Plus, I think the text and logo are a touch bland, I'd have gone for the metallic X2-style effect. Easier said than done, probably, but I think it'd look better.

Sabra by Winterhawk
Very nice piece, especially for a quickie. It's not your best IMO, but it's very good indeed. The whites are very nicely done (kudos, it's the most difficult "colour"), though maybe a few more highlights would not go amiss. AI do have a few small nitpicks... first, the metal's a bit bleh. Not bad at all, but it sort of lacks pop. I think just making it brighter, and making the contrasts between shadows and highlights in it sharper would make it look a lot better. Second, the whites are a touch mismatched: the torso and upper arms are shinier and far more wrinkled than the lower arms. I'm guessing she was originally wearing a t-shirt, but IMO the difference is too obvious. One other, really really nitpicky point: the left edge of her torso are a bit messy and bumpy (as does the edge of the arm on that side). Great piece overall, my favourite pic ofthe day.

Chieko Kawabe As Jubilee by tenchichan
It's not bad, actually. Cool fireworks. You point out the main problems, the jacket and glasses. One other point is that the edges of the choker are a bit ugly, and the X looks like its floating. Just adding a shadow from it on her throat would probably fix that. re: the jacket, there's several problems. First of all, wool and vinyl (or leather) are totally different materials, and look totally different. To make wool look like vinyl, you have to do more than just recolour, you have to smooth it out to get rid of the furry look, and add a lot more (and sharper) shadows and highlights than you have. Shiny materials have very high contrasts. Or you could just frankenstein a jacket on from another pic!

Lonely Knight In Gotham by cmeza
Thanks for the art notes! You now get UIRs again. Particularly since I can comment for more easily on this pic than on interchangeable Supergirl #564. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif Great piece, hands down your best submission to date. There's a number of problems, but please keep in mind as you read my comments that I really like this piece! I saw this piece when you posted it at Heromorph, so I've had a lot of time to pick out flaws, many of which were probably pointed out there. First off, the edges are quite ugly. I think simply feathering your selection should deal with that. Very nice texture on the costume itself, great highlights. The gold bits are all really well done, especially the awesome belt, though the bat-logo doesn't conform much to the shape of the chest under it. And another thing about the chest: the costume shouldn't cling to each breast individually like that. More details, ie wrinkles and seams, would be nice. There's some nice wrinkles on her arm, why not more? Moving onwards, there's the cape. It's sort of faded looking, needs more contrast. It's also a bit too photorealistic in comparison with the rest of the costume. The edges of her hair are too well defined, it looks unrealistic... she should have more individual strands floating around. Finally, she looks to be floating. She should cast a shadow on whatever it is she's standing on. Overall though, a very good piece.

Chobits by bullsik
Chobits is always good, it's a cool series (which I need to see more of). I like the frame, nice touch. Her hair's overflowing it though. The actual picture is very nice, the face is great, as is the hair. The shoulders seem way too small though, even given the perspective. I think they should be far more visible. And shouldn't she have arms as well? The shoulders don't really seem to be angled in such a way as to make the arms be behind her. It's hard to judge, though.

Man 0f Steel by mac10
Great piece, as usual. Nice layout, and nicely drawn. Joker looks great, very creepy. Supes' head looks kind of squished, while Joker's grin is strangely off-centre. And I still think your faces all look pretty much the same.

He Lives 4 by KAZ
Great frankensteining and recolour, as always. Like Dan said last update, you're becoming a master at that. The neck seems sort of off, though, not sure why.

The Game Begins by dan_el
Very cool! Honestly, I think this is one of your best. Very nice layout, great lighting, cool background. I'd have put a bit more detail into Bats himself, though. The material of his cape looks kinda weird, mismatched with the rest of the costume.

Spider-girl: The Movie by stillhbk
Why no art notes? Art notes are good for you, and they like small fluffy animals. Good piece, as always. Even if I infinitely prefer the comics Spider-Girl design. Nice costuming, with good colours and some nice wrinkles and seams. The weblines are great. So're the eyes. The highlights in the red are very nice as well. I think her top is a bit too form fitting, it looks uncomfortably like it's painted on. And watch out for the edges! Still, a good piece overall. But how did you get two pics in one update??

I really should do more of these....

- I'm confused by rainie19_2000
cool piece, I like the colors a lot. it's almost black and white, but not quite. good looking piano.

- Captain Cardinal by Kombat Wombat
I like the concept, but I wish there was more detail. I guess that's hard with the minimalistic style. I'd like to see more of this character.

- MC2 What If Invisible Girl by BlueScreen
I could tell by the hands... I took the pose from walt simonson ; ) I like the design, but some of the detail is hard to see. I also think some of the hair could be cleaned up a bit, it looks to much like she's wearing a hair hat.

- Lord Lantern by sickboy_ukuk
dern near perfect. one small thing, the lantern on his chest should run more parallel to his shoulders and his belt.

- Batman /Superman by joker21
to much dark space to really be a good poster, but a nice job of frankenseining.

- CLASSIC by Rungart
man I dig those eyes. really looks like he's about to fry a some bad guy. the fabric on the arm looks really good with that lighting.

- marvels: the movies by stillhbk
this is a darn cool wallpaper idea. nice job.

- X3: Dark Phoenix by transistor
I like the color adjustments, makes it look less frankensteined. of course I hate the idea of shoving a couple years worth of plot into a 2 hour movie, but the picture is nice.

- Sabra by Winterhawk
man since when did superheroes from israel get so hot? the background looks a little slapped together, but sabra looks great.

- Chieko Kawabe as Jubilee by tenchichan
yeah the glasses are what really stand out, and not in a good way. still I think the jacket looks pretty good.

- Lonely Knight in Gotham by cmeza
gah, that's hot. the costume texture doesn't match the cape textrure which is a bit off putting for me. and there's a bit of an edging issue around her feet, I think that could be cleaned up a bit. still good looking, glad its on the front page.

- Chobits by bullsik
whew... that's good looking. I'm not familiar with the character, but the quality of the piece is very high. great job with the hair.

- Man 0f Steel by mac10
I like your work, but man everyone has the same expression on their face. I do like your use of lighting, even though I don't think it's that consistant throughout the piece.

- He Lives 4 by KAZ
I'd like this a bit better if you had drawn it ; )

- The Game Begins by dan_el
this is very cool, I'm not a huge fan of the color of the text, but the rest of this is perfect. nice pose, and I love the shadow in the clouds.

- spider-girl: the movie by stillhbk
let me guess, she's late for school and is changing into her regular clothes? lucky for us there were cameras around at the time. the costume looks nice, but she doesn't really look like she's standing on a rooftop, the background just doesn't fit well.

I'm Confused by rainie19_2000- I have NO idea who this troll- looking guy is, but there's no denying this is a good picture. Scares the hell out of me, but good.

Original Concept: Captain Cardinal by Kombat Wombat- Fun AND marketable. Soon, everyone in America will have a Captian Cardinal plush doll.

Mc2 What If Invisible Girl by BlueScreen- Interesting idea. Good drawing.

Lord Lantern by sickboy_ukuk- Nice. Good lines.

Batman /superman: World's Finest (poster) by joker21- Nice collage, though I would have worked on making Lewis look more naturally bald.

Classic by Rungart- Nice piece.

Marvels: The Movies by stillhbk- Great Marvel movie poster. Like, official looking.

X3: Dark Phoenix by transistor- Nice poster. I would have chosen a different tint, though.

Sabra by Winterhawk- Nice piece, good costume.

Chieko Kawabe As Jubilee by tenchichan- Again, nice costume, good casting choice.

Lonely Knight In Gotham by cmeza- Nice. Good costume painting. It's kinda funny, in these pics, Batgirl is often standing around on Gotham rooftops, posing. Strange lady.

Chobits by bullsik- Nice drawing, but I think you messed up on the ears. They're all big and deformed. (Kidding.)(Kinda.)

Man 0f Steel by mac10- Nice, as always.

He Lives 4 by KAZ- Super.

The Game Begins by dan_el- Great piece. Favorite of the day. Funny thought:
That bat-signal is showing his pre-quil emblem, right? So at some point, he changes it, right? So how did that work? Did he just hand a big lense to Gordon, saying, "Here's my new emblem, if you wouldn't mind replacing it?"
"Why the new symbol? Just trying out a new outfit?"
"It's not an 'outfit,' it's a... why, does it look bad?"
"What a fem."
"Hey!"
Anyway, great piece.

Spider-girl: The Movie by stillhbk- Second favorite of the day. Good costume, both in design and manip aspects.

I'm Confused by rainie19_2000- As above I too have no idea who this fella is but boy can you draw!

Original Concept: Captain Cardinal by Kombat Wombat- One more to go and it will all make sense. (p.s. if there's anyone here who works at cartoon network and is interested in buying this idead.... that would be great coz i'm skint!)

Mc2 What If Invisible Girl by BlueScreen-
Nice pic.

Lord Lantern by sickboy_ukuk- Mega! I like this alot.

Batman /superman: World's Finest (poster) by joker21- Well put together.

Classic by Rungart- I really like this but art notes would be cool (i can't complain too much coz i'm not a big art noter myself).

Marvels: The Movies by stillhbk- This does look very professional.

X3: Dark Phoenix by transistor- Good stuff. I like the colour of it although in that style i'd have made it look like a really old photo.

Sabra by Winterhawk- Excellent! I think either "B" or "Junkyard" told me of this character a couple of days ago and now I know what they look like. Great timing!

Chieko Kawabe As Jubilee by tenchichan- Nice with only one complaint and that would be the sunglasses.

Lonely Knight In Gotham by cmeza- My fav today, think this is top notch!

Chobits by bullsik- Beautiful.

Man 0f Steel by mac10- Good stuff. You've got a style very much like... bugger, can't remember his name but he's good.

He Lives 4 by KAZ- Duper.

The Game Begins by dan_el- Nice piece. Lovely lighting.

Spider-girl: The Movie by stillhbk- Is it a porn movie? She's getting a bit close to the mark there don't ya think. Very good though... more than good... amazing!

captain cardinal: to me, not as cool as the one from the other day, but the style remains consistent.

classic: those are some cool eyes, and i mean very cool. love to see just the image being lit by those eyes...i think it would make for a more moody, ominous piece.

sabra: not one of your stronger pieces. the plastic wrap kills the piece imo. your a good artist, we both know that, i think you should have taken the time to really put your usual quality to it. not saying it's bad, just not your best. (and i did read it was a quickie manip, so i know you worked it quick, but still it bears your name, so i associate your name with a specific level of quality, and to me...this is below your usual level)

lonely night: i like the stylized look to the costume. it's a unique look and i like it. the cape clashes with it though...i think you should have colored the cape the same as the body....instead of just pasting it in....use it as a reference guide and rework it to match up with your style. your best piece yet.

spider girl: looks good. i'm used to your pics having some sexiness to them....this one doesn't have that same feel to me. yeah shes being naughty and either putting her pants on or taking them off..but i just dont the subtle sexiness comes across on this pic. my guess is the mask covering the eyes is the reason why. still better work than i can put together.

Well, Lex in the comics isn't naturally bald. He shave his head.

Sorry No time to UIR.
Dan, you are pretty much right. I was in a hurry to get it done and it shows. The guy that requested it had already waited 2 months, and I hate to keep people waiting on requests after I agree to do them. Also, Normally I don't use plastic wrap but one of my buddies from another site he used it on a white character and I thought it looked great on his picture, so I tried it on mine. I didn't like the effect on the lower arms so I removed it (that why they are not shiny). But I think I prefer my previous method of using a white fuzzy airbrush on a separate layer with low opacity to create the highlights, it looks more natural. But truthfully, I could have done better and I know it.
Thanks again.

Um...not exactly. In all the story lines I've ever read, Superman, or Superboy is always responsible 4 causing L.L.'s permanent hair loss. Sometimes it's 1 of his gripes against big blue.
Pls. I'm pretty sure that Lex's baldness on Smallville is the result of the meteor shower, once again permanent, & directly conected to Clark. Sorry, I don't mean to rail, I'm just trying to cover all the bases.
