View Full Version : Would we be able to have Avatars here under our names?

Over at a few other forums I post at, they allow us to have avatars (small 64x64 pixel thumbnails of either ourselves or a picture of our choosing) under our names. I was wondering how easy it would be to have this feature incorporated here under the heroic lead title? Usually those other forums either allow you to upload a small jpeg, or get you to paste your url of the picture, which can be hosted at www.imageshack.us (http://www.imageshack.us) . It just personalises the post a bit more, like those other titles in place of "heroic lead".

Those avatars seem like a cool thing at those other forums. Would it be possible to incorporate it here at all, Robbo, or any other Prime Director (eg Zac, who gives out those other titles)?

I think Avatars are cool. Unfortunately, our current MB system doesn't support them.

The message boards are really overdue for an upgrade, but there aren't any resources available to perform such an upgrade.

So, there will be no upgrade any time soon and no avatars.

Overall, I like these boards. You can edit your posts, and the thread is viewable under your reply as you write it. There's a wide range of smileys. Your name is put off to the side, easy to read.

Avators would be a fun novelty, but nothing we can't do without.

By the way, is there a way to submit smileys to C2F?

JOEL- I guess they're trying to say that if we're born, and then we die, then there's lots of padding in between.

Ah well, it was worth a shot. I wonder what software those other boards use that can incorporate avatars? Maybe if there's someone here who is good a web design and other related software, they might be able to recommend something or might even know how to upgrade the messageboards.

Most newer MB systems support Avatars, smilies and a host of other groovy features.

But, it's not a question of "how to", it's a question of resources (time and money). Sadly, the site is already high-maintenance and low-budget, so there's little incentive for me to expend more resources on this kind of upgrade.
