View Full Version : DCG / Heromorph crossover

Okay, I looked at the HM message boards the other day, and noticed the following thread: http://heromorph.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=346&forum=4. Everyone should, particularly, check out Furious Max's "Saddle Up" post. I thought we ought to start up a thread about this as well. Both sites are showing interest in the idea, so we might as well start planning it more thoroughly.

So... I'm in, assuming time permits. And we should indeed nominate an "ambassador" between the two sites and start considering the form the crossover should take. I vote for a team-up (not sure we want to risk any more acrimony between the sites), and nominate Winterhawk as the go-between, he's certainly the one that most commonly frequents both sites.

Juvenilemike

Okay so what this seems to need is some organisation. Here's what I propose.

Everyone that wants to play posts there interest. We then team up the guys one from here one from Heromorph. That way there's no hard feelings. I think there should be some theme, and I'd suggest rivalry and/or teamwork.

So far from heromorph it seems we have:
Winterhawk
Furiousmax
DarkKnight_dk
batmic
matrixblur
flux
divine_monkey711
brick
aharmon
abaddog69 (as reserve)
Grimey (maybe just maybe)

From here we have:
Juvenilemike (me)
B
...

I see now Furiousmax posted a thread that's got some more details here's a copy of his post.

"So step 1 is anyone else want to sign up do so quick! Anyone want to pull out then speak up, this could get ugly and we don't want any cry babies in the war zone!

Step 2 is we need an ambassador to C2F, preferably someone who already posts there and can communicate with them on our behalf.

Step 3 is what kind of competition? (let's imagine we have 10 artists from each website)
"Head to Head" The first idea that comes to mind is we choose 10 base pics and an artist from each site manips each pic or character and everyone votes for their favourites.

"Tag Team" This idea is much like the first but 2 artists from each site tackle 2 character base pics.

"United We Stand" This would be a 'friendly game'. For this approach each artist from Heromorph teams up with an artist from C2F and the voting is simply for the best pics.

Pics could be posted at both sites but it would seem the voting would be best done here as the pics can be posted in larger sizes and the voting more easily done.

How's that sound? Let's see if we can get those first three steps decided before next week. What kind of competition does everyone want? Speak up boy!

Max - "Everyone fights, no one quits"
"

I suggest United We Stand with the theme of co-operation or rivalry or both.

C2F has a superhero to represent itself.
Does Heromorph have one?

It would be interesting a fight between them. Oh. Vilains too!

That's the old "Crisis on Infinite Earths fever"

Ah! Almost forgot. I'm in for any idea.

Okay I've been talking to Furiousmax over at Heromorph and this is how things should play out.

Show your interest by the 2nd of July.
Pairings will be announced shortly thereafter, consisting of one person from here and one from heromorph. The team will then have until the 8th of August to create a picture on the theme of cooperation or rivalry.

hey,

yes HEROMORPH does have a mascot. Batgirl, or someone dressed as Batgirl holding a sign with an H/ there is also Jean Gray so she could be a mascot as well. a little off the topic, but check out my topic ALYSON HANNIGAN IS JESTER and let's have some feedback, OK? anyhoo, I nominate WinterHawk and Psylocke Girl as ambassadors.

i'm interested. i like the idea of the members of the two sites teaming up. i mean, most of the pioneers of the manip world are showcased in heromorph. i remember wanting to make manips ala hurricane season or hubcap when i was starting out. Plus i like the idea that the preliminary deadline is my birthday. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

This is a battle of the network stars! This is World's Finest! Britney and Christina! Okay maybe not that one but its still a pretty cool summer crossover event!

Of course I'm in (since I kinda suggested the crossover I would be remiss not to partipate). I would really like to see a STRONG C2F turnout too! This means you! You too. And you.

This should be a lot of fun and I'm sure we all might get something from this experience...

Yeah, the deadline's worrying me a bit too. I'll be in Spain for 2.5 weeks starting July 21 (My first proper vacation in 3 years!), so I'll only have a couple weeks to do my share of this. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/tongue.gif Hopefully my HM collaborator can pick up the slack, if necessary.

kev_incal
06-23-2004, 10:29 AM
Of course you too, JMK. I have a feeling we have too many theme days going on in the next few weeks - is that the reason for a lower turnout? What can we offer the winner on the C2F side as incentive for people to participate? revealing pics of zac? admission to Gotham University? buy you a drink at San Diego Comic-con?

dperceful
06-23-2004, 02:15 PM
might a make a suggestion. for something this large, and potentially producing some kick ass artwork....how about a further off deadline?

even though i'm not participating a deadline of one month or even a month and a half can be steep...hell essex needs at least a year http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif .

i would suggest a mid september to even october deadline....gives everyone plenty of time to pair up, concept the piece, decide the workflow process, etc. no one knows how the others works or how quickly they work...so a lengthy deadline would be a nice option.

for the process of partnering i would suggest just draw names....toss the collective names in separate hats and pull out the groupings that way.

if you do this do it quick.....the deadline can be far out to gurantee quality or multiple pics.....but the thing needs to start before the end of the month, other wise you run into the too much talking and not enough stuff getting done routine.

i'm hesitant to participate (just because i hate deadlines), but if there is a shortage of C2F alumni i am happy to join in to give us a proper showing. i'm also happy to volunteer to start the process and mediate if that is needed.

i caught this over at Heromorph, first info i have seen on a deadline and post date.

furiousmax says,

<I>Well here are The Rules (for the competition, I'm not referring to the book also called 'The Rules' that teaches desperate women how to get a husband):

Artists must register their interest to Juvenile Mike for C2F members or Furious Max for Heromorph members by July 7th and let them know your email address (PM your email to me guys).

Teams of 1 Heromorph member and 1 C2F member will be randomly decided by fate (supervised by Max and Mike). Each artist will be sent their team-mate's email address on July 8th.

It is the responsibility of each artist to contact their team-mate and choose a 2 character base pic together. If you can't agree we suggest watching Sesame Street.

The last day for posting finished artwork is August 8th.
Teams enter their image by the C2F artist posting the image at C2F and the Heromorph artist posting the image at Heromorph on or before the deadline.

Voting will be done at the Heromorph site by way of a poll on the front page. Voting starts on August 9 and will stay open through August 21st.

The general theme is cooperation or rivalry but, like taking a shower, is not mandatory (please shower during the competition).

Anyone can vote. Voters can vote based on any criteria they want (including, but not limited to, closing your eyes and pointing).</I>

Hey everyone,
It seems most of the guys over here are a little worried about the deadline and you don't think they have enough time. Mike and Max (hey, that sounds like a sitcom title, anyway getting off topic.) are the ones running the show on this one. What's up guys.

So far it looks like you have 9.
Juvenilemike

Shaylinn
Jedi Master Khalel (no e-mail address, posted)

Matrixblur
Flux
Divine Monkey
Brick
Aharmona
Winterhawk
Tazman
Troublebot aka Bikerbot
Batmic (no e-mail, given to Max)
Bad Dog (no e-mail, given to Max)

What happens if our numbers don't match up and we outnumber you, who gets the cut, or do we instead make a couple teams of three. Also considering you all seem to want a little extra time, we should probably extend the deadlines a bit.
So Juvenilemike, What's Up???

Um, Ok.
No wait, WHAT? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/confused.gif
I was wondering what was going on.
I am not in charge of this fun filled event. I was just pointing out what was going on so far, and the direction that it seemed to be going in as well as the minor problems that seemed to be developing. I kind of like a systematic order to things and knowing what is going on. I have organized and been in charge of a number of multiple artist group projects in the past, and I have found that organization and communication is key to making sure the projects don't just disappear and actually get finished. Also it is also hard not to put people in groups when the rules for this event say one member from heromorph will be teamed up with one member from c2f.
I am really not sure what you mean, Android.

Hey all, just to let you know, I've posted the teams to Max and he'll be getting back to me tonite (hopefuly) to okay everything. Then we're good to go.

So that you all know how it happened. I took the lists above. I then generated 12 random numbers using the random number generator at www.random.org. (http://www.random.org.) I then assigned the numbers according to the list of C2f'ers. So the first number for example 4 was assigned to my name. That meant that I was paired up with person number 4 in the heromorph list;Flux. Those weren't the real numbers btw :P

That clear for everyone? Oh, and StatXero, we've provisionally put you in a group of three that okay with you?

No. No problem using it. I imagine all the the images will contain trademarked characters.

And yeah, I definitely need to do more team-ups. I think I'll be doing one with Bill T in a while, actually. Say, Dan, we oughta do a collaboration some time! I'd love to work with you.

Winterhawk and I have a huge monkey of a picture in the works, and I'm really enjoying the process. We're still sourcing base images due to the dynamic nature of our concept but once it's ready watch out.

I'm really glad that this is all going so well for everyone, and think it's a testament to the talent, professionalism, and awesomeness of both C2f and Heromorph.

Is anybody planning on posting this in the Calendar thread? Any images that should be posted on specific days will NOT be posted on those days unless an information post is made in the Calendar thread. I have no idea what is going on with these images or what I am to do with them. I don't have time to research things like this and considering the images for this that have already been submitted are specially marked, I assume they need special attention.

Hi Guys, for those of you that do not know, the voting will take place at heromorph and take advantage of our online polls that we have there. The poll will go up tomorrow and end on Aug 21st. I will post a link the exact URL of the poll when I put it on the site.

Mike, What would you like for the poll.
We have the following that have made it on time for the challenge:
Dark Knight / B
MatrixBlur / kev_incal
Bill T / Mystic Morgan
Brick / dperceful
Winterhawk / JuvenileMike
Troublebot / Poison Ivy

Android has put forward a very nice entry but it is missing his partners half. Should he be included in the poll to win? (I think he should, but it is up to you and Max)

Also it looks like the Furious Max / MilleniumBum and the Aharmona / Shaylinn combo's are going to be late. Did you want me to add you guys to the poll; in hopes the pictures are up soon.

And what about the Flux / AnonmissX and the Jedi Master Khalel / StatXero pictures has anyone heard from any of these guys.

(I also posted this message at Heromorph)

Also as a Moderator of Heromorph and a member of C2F, I would like to thank every one involved; this was a great idea and a very fun project. A big Thank you to Max and Mike, who did a dam good job organizing this event.

Could I ask that someone post my half of the Crossover on Heromorph until I can get aharmona's half. I didn't realize that Android was going to go ahead and submit his half minus Tazman's half.

I think I'm going to go ahead and submit it here this evening and if one of you wouldn't mind I'll post a full sized version on my website and provide you with a link so you could post it for me until aharmona can get his finished.

I'm really proud of how this one turned out and I would love to see what my fellow manipers think.
