Well, boys and girls, at last we are getting closer to make a smart move towards getting financially stable, or healthy independent or whatever you want to call it.

As many, well, not too many... OK, none of you knew I have been freelancing for a good 7 years period now, with a little (not so little now) daughter and a wonderful wife and soon (half to two months from now) another daughter http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

And well, I think being my own boss is great, but I'm becoming tired of nervous breakdowns on not knowing if there will be a new check next week, or next month... to be sincere, this year has been the worst one to date... so I decided to stop being a service provider and become an entrepreneur and start commercializing my own products.

So this last 5 months I've been studying markets and options here in Mexico City, and being a Graphic Designer specialized in Multimedia; decided to make the first Multimedia Comics Magazine in Mexico; it has not been easy, but I started to talk with the people in the business from Warner to Fox, from Marvel to DC, and at last I think we can be out in November.

Right now we almost have the printed part done and are still working in the interactive part. You see, right from the beginning I wanted the DCG and C2F to be part of it (because they are, in a manner of speaking), so, we are planning to have an article on you guys and a section for fan-art and national and international artists http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

I talked about this with Robbo (on e-mail, of course) and asked him if I could (just sometimes) quote C2F giving a link and proper credit whenever I used it as a source (as a matter of fact that's what I'm doing whenever I'm using out-sourced material) and he told me that if I wanted an article on C2F and DCG I could interview some guys here (Essex, Zac, etc.) and well, I'm planning on doing just that.

Aside of that, I'd like to tell you guys, that if any of you want to be in the gallery, please e-mail me; at first I can only promise to send you a copy of the Magazine when it is out and your credit and contact information (it will be in spanish for starters, and distributed only in Mexico, but with the adequate leverage and contacts made in the way we are planning to grow); on the other hand, inside the magazine we have two self-owned brand-new interactive comics and we have already great talent working for us, sadly, it is a lot of work and some of the people involved are very... how to say it? ...not accustomed to work on tight deadlines, being the principal problem the money. You know, as a new product, we have our faith and savings invested in it, and the patronage we have been looking for doesn't have a lot of faith... though they are looking forward to collaborate with us when there are one to three issues out in the market, so my question for you (and I already have some of you in mind) is ¿would you accept to collaborate in this project under the promise to receive proper credit and contact information published first, and two to three months after the first issue hits the shelves (I hope sooner) receive a financial retribution for your work? ¿What we need? artistic help, and if you want or can, argumental aid (I mean, we have the concept grounded already; but fresh ideas are always welcome)

Let me say something, the name of the magazine comes from a character I had to create for a certain theme day, and one of the comics is as a matter of fact the origin and ongoing adventures of that character first saw here in the DCG... we already have some amazing designs made for the characters, I'll upload one soon. And for the idea of the theme day, thank you, Junkyard!

First- Congradulations on EVERYTHING! The baby, taking steps towards your dream, and everything.

Second- I'm glad you're thinking so much of us over in C2F. You can quote me and whatnot, and you can use my "fan pic" from the Original Concept Swap. (I put "fan pic" in quotations by the technicality that I haven't actually seen the comic yet.)

Third- I didn't start the Original Concept Swap. I suggested the name and participated, but that's it. The name of who started it, I have to admit, escapes me.

Anyway, good luck with everything!

I think trekkie started the Original Concept Swap.

Atomic Man, you have blanket permission to quote me / reproduce my art / whatever, so long as you credit me, (full) name and email.

Wow Trigonez!! Looks like your life is moving to a next level.Congrats and the best wishes of good luck!!

And, if you think any of my manips is suitable or good enough to be part of this, just feel free to use it, with the related credit stuff http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif.

I would be happy to join in if you find any of my stuff to your liking. I would just ask that in addition to the conditions you have listed that you let me know ahead of time. I am also willing to do pieces directly for your magazine if you ever need anything. Whether you have use for me or not I am excited for you and hope that this venture proves successful. I am a father myself and understand fully your motivations for financial security.

Thank you for your observation on trekkie being the author of the idea on the Original Concept Swap, dperceful. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Thank you trekkie.

And thank you very much for your commentaries, Lady D, personally I think your work is one of the highlights in this site, and I am glad that you want to participate.

And well, let's organize this, the publication will be out on a monthly basis and we are including 5 international artist galleries per issue. So what we need is this: If you want to see your work published, please select 10 of what you think would be your best (you can include more, but we are selecting 10 works max per person), a brief description on each work (if it was made professionally, some art notes, and such), your personal contact data (name, country, address, e-mail, URL, telephone and whatever you want to be contacted), your logotype or photograph and some info on you as a person or as a company.

As I told you the Voltaik is going to be distributed only in Mexico at first but the interactive packs and contact info will be available to download and be seen on our website after we have 4 issues published.

More info soon.

Wow, Trigonez! What an awesome thing you're doing! I would love to participate on this in any level. I don't really understand what you're quite looking for though. Is it manips? Illustrations? Do they have to be digital? The 10 pieces, do they have to be from our DCG gallery? I think I've improved beyond the work in my gallery. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif

This is awesome, congratulations TRYGONEZ! I applaud you, & echo the statements of the above DCGers, & wish you great success!

But I think the questions that amy asked are good ones. I am very interested in your offer, if you find me worthy, it would be an honor for my artwork to appear in THE VOLTAIK. And to you I say EXCELSIOR!!!

Thank you very much for your wishes.

Amy and Laughing Bear, they can be manips, or illustrations, they can be digital or analog http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif in any technique you like, as a matter of fact they can be sketches as long as they belong to the realms of comics, science fiction, horror, fantasy and the like, they don't necesarily have to be from your DCG gallery as long as they show what you want to show to the people out there (here?).

Again thank you very much for your interest.

Y'know, I can't help but note that I named trekkie as the one who started the OCS, not Dan. Unless he emailed you or something...

*ahem* Anyway, this is a great idea, I wish you luck. When you've decided more firmly on how it'll work, I'll certainly see about taking part.

At first, thanks for the nice words , I'm blushing http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif!!

I do have a doubt...In the manips we often use pics we get from the internet, famous faces and stuff.Isn't it a problem? Because the pics do have an owner, and they were used without permission... And I'm sure we don't wanna see you in any kind of problems with the law, Trigonez (as well, we don't wanna this kind of trouble to ourselves).

So?

Kisses,

I don't think there would be any problem, you see, the objective of the gallery is show fan-art and pro-art with its goal in promoting your style, you take full credit, it is not like if we were selling it, just showing it; but anyway, don't send things like a picture of Naomi Campbell with here irises erased and tell she´s Storm modeling for a magazine; we would like illustration and photomanipulation work that has something above 3 hours of hard work. On the other hand please do tell what you did and which are your sources. With that guidelines, I don't think there should be any problem.

Anyway, the gallery is just one section of twenty. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

By the way, Trygonez, has your design for Volty changed sinse the Concept Swap? When I was working on manip of him, I thought it was one of the cooler designs I'd seen.

Well, you can send whatever you want to send at my standard e-mail: joaco74@prodigy.net.mx but I will be using this one for this project: multimedia@twilight-dm.com

Laughing Bear in Spanish: Could be something like "Oso Risueño" http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

It kinda loses strength in the translation, "Oso Risueño" sounds to me like Care Bears; let me see if I find something that sounds more deranged.

Hi Trygonez, what kind of contributions would you like for the magazine? marvel/dc stuff, original stuff...?

TRYGONEZ
09-21-2004, 12:44 PM
Marvel, DC, Image, 2000 A.D., Avatar, Dreamwave, Darkhorse, Crossgen (RIP), Independent, etc. Original Art, I think, would be a plus (very recommended if you want the people to know you by your original creations)

Hi guys!

Well, we are kinda approaching to deadline and I was wondering if the people interested could send me their personal/company profiles for the gallery if you want to be in.

Second, I'm having some kinda production problem/delay with my star penciller (for the interactive comic) and I wanted to know if someone was interested in stepping in to fill the gaps. We have the layout and history for the first part but aside the design sketches we don't have any panel drawn yet. This is terrible because I love this guy's style but he is so unstable and I just don't have enough time to do all the work. So, here's the catch, right now we are paying the production bills for the first issue so we are not receiving any financial utilities until two-three months after the issue hits the shelves so we are offering full credit to the penciller from the very beginning and the economic retribution for his/her work, two months later.

Due to the nature of the comic, the panels involve some funny specifications, but I won't give more info until someone decides to step in. I really hope you can help me, but I will understand if you won't. Thank you very much in advance. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

Hello again everybody!!

Just wanted to let you know that due to some permission and sponsoring stuff (you know, the bar code, the ISSN and all) the magazine will delay its first issue to middle November and during December. So if you want material to be included in the gallery sections please read above and let me know via e-mail. There's still some time left.

Anyway, this delay has been positive in many ways... We have an interview this week with a professional artist, whose name I will not give yet, but you can see his work in Spíderman, Venom, and some DC properties http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

In the interactive comic department we have the collaboration of a fellow DCG'er whose initials are K.N. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif and who I can't thank enough for stepping in. Soon more details.

And we have contact with a Game Developement Company who is interested in giving us an interview http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif (Thanks for the tip, Bill!)

And last, but not least, for the gallery we have artwork from Ali, and we'll include Bill Turner too. Thank you guys!

See you later!
