I know some of us back and forth post at Heromorph (http://www.heromorph.com/). They have a thread over there stating that Wizard has kinda pilfered some of the work at that site and started posting it at Wizard's site. This is the first time I've had one of my pics (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazines/babes/BA20030825-Fathom.cfm) taken by another site without an email...I'm all excited http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif .

Anyways, a lot of it is stuff I've seen at Heromorph, some of it is stuff I have seen here and at both places. Wizard does post a disclaimer.."This feature is provided for artists and their photomanipulation work. If you are the owner of an image or the original model and object to its use, send an email to feedback@wizarduniverse.com with the image link."

I didn't even know they had a section of photomanips on the site. Here is the link (http://www.wizarduniverse.com/magazines/archives/archive_babes_01.cfm), feel free to take a look at it, and maybe add your work to another place on the net.

dan

p.s. thanks to the Heromorph guys for pointing this out.

Hopefully, my upcoming Fathom 2 pic will qualify for this stuff, I never see my artwork posted else-where without my permission.

The picture they picked of yours is of a higher quality than the bulk of the "cheesecake" they choose to post. I would have hoped that they would have a greater representation of the quality types of work available out there, and here. Kudos to you for them having disregarded their porno based standard and post a quality image based on the source material.

i thought it odd they didn't have stuff from Zac, Welshcat, Essex, Kev_Incal, Bill T, B etc. oh well, i was amazed mine was on there....and fathom on top of that. "cheesecake" is a little harsh of a term. while it does apply to some of the pics, there are those with the sexy poses that also incorporate some superb costuming skills. i was surprised in the midst of some of those pics are recolours or varying qualities, which for the most part is not really a manipulation, in my opinion. we all know what i mean by that, there are the good recolours which i would count as a manip....and then there are the bad recolours, which to me displays the ability to do average work when much more could have been done to take the image to the next level. i'll stop before i rant.

They swiped my Elizabeth Culthbert/Dreamer pic. I wonder if they:
A) Got it from here
B) Got it from Heromorph
C) Got it from someone sending it in

i've noticed some of the HM pics reference back to Heromorph, while some reference back to C2F. Your guess is as good as mine.

I don't think so. While there are some quality images it is the "Comic Babes Archive".

Wizard seems to have the same thing HM does, a strong (for Wizard, absolute) preference for sexy female character pics. Really, I think most of the sites that post others' manips have the same preferences. A lot of it is really, really good, but it's all quite similar in overall feel. I think C2F and (to a lesser degree) HM are the only sites that tend to post a variety of pieces -- scenes, movie posters, atmospheric "artistic" style pics, etc. -- rather than just sexy ones.

I noted they had a couple of my pics on there a few months ago when it was first brought up (my britney/dazzler which was credited, and my X-Verse Nightcrawler which wasn't credited (Two emails and still nothing doing!!!))

Anyways I personally don't think these were even my best 'cheesecake' pics so I don't know what the selection criteria is.

Dude, that's not exciting, that's dissappointing. Wizard should know better then to gank other people's work without asking. I say sue the pants off of them.

that sounds like a good idea until the model or photographer hit me up for some of that dough for illegal use of their property. then image gets a hold of me for misrepresentation of their property. when it's all over with, i have enough to get a tank of gas, which actually isn't too bad in today's economy.

and totally off subject. you know any good places to look for an apartment or rental property in your neck of the woods? might be out that way on a permanent basis next year.

just email me.

yep they do have good work over there. check out the dcg/heromorph theme day to see some of the stars of both sites team up and promote a good will unity between the communities.

i wrote this over at heromorph as well, i thought it relevant to post here.

i watched a special on TLC about the history of comics. the batman editor had a strong statement, i'll paraphrase. "your not just the editor of the batman or the superman comic, your the caretaker of an american legend." i wish i could remember the exact quote, but that is the jist.

we are showing our appreciation to legends...because be honest....to us these characters were our bed time stories, our afternoons after school, our killing time on the plane or airport, etc. these legends have inspired us to take our free time and realize them in a new visual light.

to get back on topic with that same thought, we choose to post our images where we want. but since the characters are beloved by so many they are public property or people feel that those images are public property. once the artist community realizes that, or looks at it with the eyes of a 12 year old seeing one of winterhawks works, then i think you "get it."

and to add a little more.......

i don't think any harm is intentionally meant by the person who posts your work wherever, i feel that it's more of an appreciation thing. things do happen like credit not given to you, but in the wizard case credit has been given to the artists. a lot of heat between HM and C2F was due to that "credit" issue, but for the most part we all know who is who and who did what. at both sites we try and nip those things in the bud early.

again, we all love these characters, this site would not exist without them. we are just showing off our appreciation by doing these manips, and others are showing off their appreciation of our work by showing it elsewhere.

Not being one whose art was so honored I was not really thinking about copyrights. I was just disapointed that they chose to go for titillation rather than showcasing the artwork.

Actually, I've seen a couple of my morphs posted on Heromorph without my knowledge or permission. To top it off, the person who posted it has gone so far as to white out the part of the picture with my logo. I wrote Heromorph about it over two weeks ago, and have yet to hear back from them. I don't mind having my stuff there, but I do want proper credit for my stuff.

For those of you that don't know, Hubcap the owner of the site is not currently around. So if you click the contact us link you might never get an answer. I am a moderator at Heromorph, we have new posting rules on our site now and we only accept artist posted art or art posted with permission. If some of your art is at heromorph contact me. my e-mail is winterhawk200[at]yahoo.ca. It will be removed in less then a day, I guarantee it.

i've seen cheesier. namely a manip i saw once done by chester cheetah back when me and him were taking on a rival potato chip company. it was back in the day when the surgeon general was concerned with the cancerous effects of the "cheetos dust" associated with the popular cheetos namebrand. you see, chester had fallen on hard times and he stumbled across manipping as an escape from the hum drum life of a spokes model. his images were constantly cluttered with the cheetos dust and we soon began to realize that chester needed the dust to stop his addiction to heroin. well, i've said too much...chester has moved on and has reinvented himself as the sugarsmacks frog. the new chester cheetah is some guy from cleveland.

sorry i got off topic....it was a chance to remember my good friend chester cheetah. funny stufff hawk, hopefully the humor will not be lost. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
