I hope anybody else in it's path fairs well I know there's a few of us down here if Fla. I intend to keep posting 'till I can't use the net, but just incase I don't have a computer, or power for a while that "come hell or high water" I'll be back.

Heyla Bear,

I just went through the wait and watch thing with Charley -- I'm on the west coast (Tampa). And my Mom may have to evac to my place this time.

I just wanted to say be careful and stay safe.

And if something happens (heaven forbid) and there is anything I can do let me know.

Shay

Yeah, my family once went to Florida on vacation, and everywhere we went, it was "Wisconsin? Oh! The cow state, right?" and, to my father,
"So, what do you grow?"
"Oh, I work on a voicemail and digital communications farm."

You gotta love a huge monster hurricane that waffles on you. Frances has slowed down to roughly 6 MPH, been reduced two levels to a cat. 2, but now is expanding to gargantuan proportion. (as if 2/3 the size of Texas wasn't big enough) And now there talking about someone named Ivan!? I can't stand it...this thing's gonna kill us with the waiting. Sorry...just hadda vent...I'm good now. Still here as you can see.

Heyla Bear and I'm glad to hear you have come through okay so far and Heyla Sonic from one Tampanian to another.

I'm sitting here at work where we just went to our generator for power watching the wind blow...

I'll talk to you all later -- I've hidden in the back long enough I guess I better go do some work http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif

Surprisingly, I have yet to lose power at home. The power has flickered about 50 times, but it has stayed on. Most of my firends have lost power though. My father's friend's father-in-law, who lives across the street, is without power. I'm pretty damn lucky... I hope this post doesn't jynx me...

Well, lost power on sat evening, just got it back steady at about 1:00AM.http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/crazy.gif We faired pretty well, nothing worse then a li'll flooding really, street, & yard, not in the house. The wind blew some things around, dropped lots'a debris in out yard, but no real damage. Many others have faired much worse in the last coup'la days. BTW Shay, Sonic...you guys make out okay? after the power went out all we had was a battery operated radio, not sure how strong Frances was by the time she got over to y'all's side. Hope every thing came out okay.
O yeah...Levil1..you didn't get any of it did you?

Glad you got through it, amigo.

Sunday was the 1 year anniversary of Felix smacking us in Bermuda around like a ragdoll. No power for over a week, some roads ripped right out etc etc, so I can empathize.

Hoping Ivan takes a BIG turn to the right so he misses both of us,

Pax

Other than being worn out from being at work for 12 hour shifts I and all my family came through okay. The worst was my aunt and uncle had a tree take out the incoming power line to the house.

And Sticks I second, third, fourth... the hope that Ivan goes away.

Glad to hear that that was the worst of it for you, & your fam, hope your aunt and uncle get there power lines fixed soon, going just three days without ruined a good deal of our food supply.

As for Ivan, I propose that we put our collective positive, transcendental, Sweedinborgian type mental energies in to pushing "him" out to sea so that he's just a fish storm. You may think I'm being silly, but
I've heard, & read where this kind of thing has worked, hey...it's worth a shot.

The current track of 5 of six models bring the evil of Ivan onshore on the west coast of Florida and the sixth brings in landfalling Panama City/Panhandle area. The National Hurricane Center's track is saying it will come onshore around Sarasota as a Cat 4 track over Tampa Bay and go from there through the state. No matter what happens this thing is going to get us more rain and winds the final track pretty much depends on the strength of a high pressure ridge out in the Atlantic if that is strong enough it will push Ivan farther west into the Gulf.

Wow, this is some year for hurricanes, we were considering going north for a "visit" when we started hearing about Ivan, but I think were going to wait, & see. Shay, & Sonic, I hope you, & all the west coasters stay high, & dry...I did hear that there's still a chance that it could veer off into the Atlantic, we can hope.

And just to make sure I keep my title... The most recent set of tracks are showing a decided shift to the west with almost all of them showing landfall in the panhandle now...

If you want to see the 5 major models the weather geeks use http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/ there is a link and then click on "Computer Models" for Ivan.
The teal/turquoise line is historically the most accurate.

LaughingBear
10-09-2004, 01:21 AM
Hey, every one, L.B. here. Reporting from a genuine disaster area.

Man it's good to have power, & access to the Internet once more. Looks like I have a bit of catching up to do, & I'm working on it, but living in a state that's hit by a record 4 consecutive hurricanes, two of which we (my fam, & I) were right in the path of can be extremely exhausting. And in between those Ivan dumped an ocean of rain on our house when he swung back through, saturating the ground so far beyond capacity that our septic began to work in reverse (fun fun) then Jeanne knocked the power out for something like two weeks.

We tried to wait it out, & we probably could have if it weren't for the septic issues, but eventually we high tailed it for Orlando, & a Comfort Inn until the power came back on, & now the clean up begins (more fun). Dudes, & dudettes, you haven't lived until you walk out in your back yard to find a 60 foot pine tree that has been snapped like a twig (I wondered what that sound was) luckily it missed anything important, including our newly planted citrus trees, that it missed by mere inches.

Any hoo, I'll get back into the swing of things slowly bur surely, I've got a bunch of projects that need to finish, & submit, plus I did some sketching at the inn, I think two of them are suitable for posting. I just wanted to let y'all know that I'm still here, & plugging away. I hope Shay, & Sonic faired at least as well, hopefully better.

Well, that's all from the land of Gatorade, love bugs for now. Peace~~~C ya inna funny pages http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif
