Last year we pulled off the first ever DCG Awards. This year we hope to pull off the 2nd DCG Awards.....and here is your opportunity to participate and get your work out there for the others to vote on.

The purpose of this thread is for you to promote your work in the categories that you feel you qualify for. Much like the Academy Awards....you are promoting your work as one that is worth considering for an award in that category. The purpose o the thread is to help you find images to vote for. You are by no means limited to this thread...it is just one way to look at some of the images over the last year. You are more than welcome to view the gallery page by page.

Again...you are promoting your work and your work only. Promoting another artist's work is basically the same as voting for that artist....you can do that when the voting starts.

Here is an example on a preferred way to promote your image.

Hi, my name is Artist A and here are some images that I have worked on over the year that I believe are worth your consideration for the 2004 DCG Awards.

Name of Category
The name of your image (the url of your image)

I hope this helps you find some images for this year.

Hi, I'm Artist B, aka Blazej, aka the Impronounceable One, and here are some images for your consideration for the 2004 DCG Awards. (Bribe not included)

(Now listing all my eligible pics rather than just some of them... I'll update this if/when I come out with new stuff.)

Best Overall Image: It's not gonna win, but my best (though not my favourite) is probably Dream (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15732). Or there's my favourite (though probably not quite my best), Eve (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15098).

Best Artist of the DCG: Me! After all, why not?

Best Illustrator: I'd say vote for me, but it'd just make me feel dirty. http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/smile.gif Vote for someone that, y'know, deserves it.

Best Original Character: Eve! (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15098) And I suppose my version of Kev Newburn's Focus (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15349&f_ssn=&f_fooble=7) is also eligible.

Best Display of Power: Emma Frost (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14939)

Most Improved Artist: Me! Really, I do think I've improved a lot since I started. Here are the complete works. (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/index.php?f_artists=1136) And just compare the versions 1 (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=12317&f_ssn=&f_fooble=30) and 2 (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14611&f_ssn=&f_fooble=14) of Harley Quinn.

Best Comedic Image: Uh... Maybe Oops! (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15610) Not that it'll win or anything.

Best Theme Day Pic: Xmas in July: Zac al Ghul (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15864)
DCG-Morph: Mirror Image (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16219)
Plus my entries for the Color Me Silly theme day, listed in the next category.

Best Colorist: Me! Here's evidence 1: Color Me Silly: Ultimate Black Cat (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14831), evidence 2: Color Me Silly: X-Statix (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14870), and evidence 3: Vash the Stampede (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14628).

Best 3D/Poser: Anniversary. (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15630)

Best Marvel: U-Go Girl (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14208) and Emma Frost (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14939)

Best DC: Harley Quinn (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14611), Dream (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15732), Delirium (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15938), Despair (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16455&f_ssn=&f_fooble=1)

Hope this helps...

Hi people, I'm not really into self promotion much so I'll leave it to voters to decide...if they like anything I've done then they'll vote, besides if I do choose from my own art then I have to wait until my recent uploads are on the gallery..there's some good ones on the way

okay kids....time is running out. i think if you have any pics you want to be considered you should be finishing them up and getting them submitted fairly quick. otherwise your going to be SOL for this years awards, unless you hook up essex with some $$$. i'm not sure on the exact last date to submit and get posted before the deadline....but i would post them NOW and beat the rush. also don't forget to post links to your pics in the for your consideration thread, it's the best way to make sure your work is seen for it's respective category.

I'm hoping to start a trend. If everyone only did one image a year, I would only have to do three updates a year, max! Now that's convenience. And wouldn't those updates be well worth the wait? http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/biggrin.gif

I wonder if I'll be able to finish another pic in time for NEXT year's awards...it's debatable. I only managed to get in one image for this year's and my work flow has actually slowed down from that....ugh.

Anyway, I think people should vote for artists who have a good number of submissions this year, unless it's for the single image awards http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif That rules me out...er...I mean...this is the "for your consideration" thread, eh? Alright, create a write-in category for "most delayed image" and then vote for 'Sinister's Lab.' Though I may have some competition in Zac who just can't seem to finish his latest :P

Good luck, everyone!

Shaddup! It will be done this week. Would've been done tonight, but I had to teach a blonde how to do background effects in HTML.

My recent piece has lead me to think of an award that doesn't already exist. Hear me out. I think that all award presenting bodies have an award dedicated to an inspirational artist or exponent of the artform the awarding body represents. I believe that we should install an award dedicated to the one man who inspired me to think comics and film could be one and the same in their goal. I speak, obviously, of an award in the name of Christopher Reeve. This award need not be for artistic merit in the representation of our chosen field of interest, but simply shows our appreciation of the world where storyboard and comic book overlap. Writer, artist, actor, DCG member, etc. and so on. I would love to hear your opinion on this as I feel we need to show the man who made so many of believe a man could fly the respect he duly deserves. As the Bard once said...Lay on, MacDuff.

i've already addressed that in another thread. there will be a reflective moment in honor of Christopher's passing. i had not planned on an award in his honor...i thought a remembrance would work. let me see how the awards play out. i am sympathetic to this thought, i started a thread about doing some remembrance pieces for the dcg. i can guarantee you this much, he will be remembered at the awards in one way or another.

if you want to talk more about it just shoot me an email at dperceful@yahoo.com

please let's keep the thread on topic as much as possible. i would really like there to be more people participating in this year's awards (by that i mean voting), and this thread is designed to make it easier for everyone to figure out what images are out there.

I was sorta waiting to campaign until to see if the Legion movie pic would be posted in time so here's Studio kev_incal's lobbying picks (you'll find similar press releases and ads in today's Variety and other trade publications http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif)

Best Artist of the DCG: kev_incal is quite fetching.

Best Scene: 247 (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15968&f_ssn=&f_fooble=10) (C'mon, I managed to work in a 'butt shot'!).

Best Movie Poster: Legion: The Movie (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16782&f_ssn=&f_fooble=8) (The only movie I approve of Paris Hilton being in!).

Best Display of Power: B-Day Gift for Robbo: Dr. Strange (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15654&f_ssn=&f_fooble=16) (Look at that hair transplant! Oh and the magic's cool too).

Most Improved Artist: kev_incal sucks considerably less than he used to (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/index.php?f_start=1&f_order=1&f_dir=2&f_minRate=0&f_ssn=&f_artists=161) (on second thought, you might not want to look at my earlier pieces and centainly not ones I've already deleted).

Best Theme Day Pic: Comedy Tonight: Legion Subs (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15636&f_ssn=&f_fooble=17) (Its a bit minimalist but still...).

Best Comedic Image: Comedy Tonight: Legion Subs (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15636&f_ssn=&f_fooble=17) (I swear that's a thumb on Essex and David really is keeping his hands to himself....honest http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif). I'm also quite fond of XMas: Gift For Marrow2000 (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14283&f_ssn=&f_fooble=28) but still think Legion Subs is better.

Best Marvel Image: Captain America (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15544&f_ssn=&f_fooble=13) (It does have an abstract title but I hope you can get around that).

Best DC Image: Dreamer (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14417&f_ssn=&f_fooble=26) (Stop staring at the diamond, it ain't gonna get any bigger!).

Here are some images for your consideration for the 2004 DCG Awards. What is difficult is deciding which category to suggest. All the images are scenes, and pretty good over-all images. But if my best image is voted on in 2 or 3 categories then I won't get enough votes to win in any of the categories.

Best Overall Image: This will have to be a joint award between Mystic Morgan and Myself. It is may favorite image I have worked on. So much so that I can't stop working on it. Sentinel Redux (http://home.comcast.net/~billpturner/Sentinels-Medium.jpg).

Best Theme Day: I would say this one. It is not the new improved one but it is the one that won and was submitted for that theme day. DCG-Heromorph Crossover Winner (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/art/Art16246.jpg).

Best Scene: I would say Sentinel Redux (http://home.comcast.net/~billpturner/Sentinels-Medium.jpg) but also consider these Sinister Six Battle (http://home.comcast.net/~billpturner/Sinister-Six-Battle.jpg) or FF versus Galactus (http://home.comcast.net/~billpturner/FF_vs_Galactus.jpg).

I only submitted 11 pics since the last awards. With one exception -- I Dream Of Lindsay (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15707) -- I created each with a goal of topping myself each time. I wanted to get away from the habit of posting each and every manip I made, and only displayed the ones I really thought were good.

So don't take the fact that I nominated all my works as a sign of ego. I rejected a lot of my pics this year by not even posting them to the DCG. In other words, since I only posted pics that I thought were award-worthy, of course I'm going to nominate them all.

Best Overall Image: Jocasta (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16158)

Best Artist of the DCG: 4 (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16192)

Best Scene: Down and Out (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15836)

Best Movie Poster: Tintin (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15808)

Best Display of Power: Storm (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14498), Nova (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15800)

Best Colorist: Team Photo (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14120)

Best Marvel Image: Keeping An Eye On Me? (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15971), Jocasta (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16158)

Best DC Image: <A HREF="http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=13604" TARGET=_blank> C'mere You!
</A>

Best Other Image: Tomb Raider (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16366)

Whoo, have I been working hard this year or what? A whole six new images! Three of which are manips! I need to take it easier next year. Ok, so most of these pictures fit into multiple categories, but bear with me.

Best DC image Ra's Al Ghul (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16122&f_ssn=&f_fooble=1)

Best Illustrator: Sewer Sue (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15552&f_ssn=&f_fooble=3)

Best Display of Power: Scarlet woman (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14380&f_ssn=&f_fooble=6)

Most Improved Artist: Me? (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=16122&f_ssn=&f_fooble=1)

Best Theme Day Pic: The ghost of a Christmas past! But I still love it. X-mas (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14279&f_ssn=&f_fooble=7)

Best Comedic Image: Well, I still think Kev's X-mas gift (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15960&f_ssn=&f_fooble=2) is pretty funny. And there's also Love at the greenhouse (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14649&f_ssn=&f_fooble=5). Or you could vote one of them for best theme day pic.

Best Colorist: Me! Behold: Sewer Sue (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=15552&f_ssn=&f_fooble=3) Love at the greenhouse (http://www.comics2film.com/DCG/DispArt.php3?f_id=14649&f_ssn=&f_fooble=5)

Hey, I've been quoted! Cool! Now I'll be famous! Like... uh, that fat guy. Or the thin guy. The dead one. From, y'know, that show? About movies?

The awards are being revamped. The process has been overhauled and I believe for the better. We are moving to a system much like the Academy Awards. A small group of respected and trusted artists are compiling a list of nominees for each category. Each panel member will submit a list of their choices, and assign points to each choice. The 5 artists/images with the most points in their respective category will move on as nominees. This list of nominees will be what YOU vote on. I cannot give you an exact date of when the nominees will be posted, as these panel members are having to look thru roughly 150 pages of images and on short notice. You will still get the one week voting period. I am aware Thanksgiving is coming up, the voting period WILL NOT happen on that week. As soon as the list is compiled I will make it known in this thread or another obvious thread.
