I didn't see a UIR for today's update anywhere, so...

Arch Enemies: Part Twelve by Junkyard
"I... think so. Yeah." Heh. A damn fun ending to a damn fun series. Certainly your funniest work ever, kudos. It's an anti-climax, but that anti-climax works perfectly, somehow. What was that about a sequel? (I know, I know, "read the thread" -- it was a rhetorical question!)

Shadowcat by Majik1387
Not bad, you've improved a lot since your debut. The belt and shirt are nice. It's all really blobby and ill-defined, though, you need to work on making your pics sharper and better defined. That's certainly the biggest weakness in your work. Also, proper art notes would not go amiss.

Jetta by MaidenRaine1300
Nice for Paint, as usual. Fun to see more Jem pics. Uh... That's about it. There's not really much I can say about this that hasn't been said at length about your other work.

Batman by spi
Very nice drawing. Cool cape. The perspective on the legs seems a bit weird, as is the anatomy/musculature here and there. It's still a way better drawing than I could do, of course.

Supergirl 2004 by NightScroller
Art notes please. The skirt's really blurry, and the S doesn't conform to the shape of her chest.

So It Begins... by Sonic1002
Yeesh, three pieces all using the new Bat-pic? A bit much, surely... Anyway, good pic. Nice background, I like the cityscape. Cool colours. The logo in the bat signal should probably conform to the shape of the clouds, though that would likely be easier said than done.

Term 2 In Gotham by eceDrihten
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA. It's funny cause it's true. *ahem* Sorry. Political commentary? Where? I know no political commentary. Good piece. The dummy's face is really nice, particulary for something done from scratch. The hair doesn't blend in particularly well, but for a ventriloquist's dummy, that kinda works. The lighting's nice, though it all looks a bit, I dunno, hazy. I get the impression it would look better if the shadows were all a bit sharper.

Captain Britain by Ecthelion
Good piece. Nice colours, and a really nice background. There's some problems with the Poser, his shoulders are huge and his arms miniscule in comparison. Also, some minor costuming nitpicks -- the positions of the flag-bits (for lack of a better description) on his cowl don't quite match one another, the hole for his mouth's asymmetric as well, and the edge of the glove on his left hand should curve more. I'd also put more shading (ie, shadows and highlights) into his costume, it's a bit flat. Don't mind my nitpicks though, this is a good pic.

50s Batman Begins by kman
Welcome to the DCG! Another pic using the same photo, yay. Good recolour, nice job doing the grin.

Batman Begins Desktop by oorat
Welcome to the DCG! And another one. Good collage, though the layout's a bit cluttered. Nice lighting adjustments on the various photos, when it comes to lighting for movie posters, uniformity is a definite virtue. Mind you, the intensity of the lighting varies drastically.

Iron-man by ali786
Hmm. Very nice piece. Admittedly, the metal's only so-so... it needs far sharper contrasts and more highlights. But the mood and lighting of the pic more than make up for that. His face looks great, some of your best work. The lighting there is just gorgeous. Mind you, the ears are way too high up. Aside from my earlier comment about the metal effect, I like the armour. The light on his chest unit is really well done, and I like the helmet as well, though the face is kinda blurry. Really good piece overall!

Bats by pwhitrow
Welcome to the DCG! Very nice drawing. I think I like Robin better overall, though I'm unsure as to why. Nice cape on Bats. And, damn, you can draw hands! What I wouldn't give to be able to draw hands... Nitpicks (besides the one you point out): Bats' arms, especially the right one, are really small; and Robin's hairline seems a bit too high. Otherwise, this is gold. I look forward to seeing the sketches you're doing now rather than several years ago.

Superman: The Movie by effektdmentality
Good frankensteining and recolours. The armour and cape look good. Nice shading on the S as well. His face is okay, though the skin tone's a bit too yellow in comparison to the hands. And he would appear to be wearing lipstick! And speaking of the hands, they're really blocky, the knuckles should be better defined.

Electra by the uatus
Welcome to the DCG. Not a bad debut, though the costuming is really, really blurry. And pixelly to boot. I like the lighting of the piece, though.

Losh: Cosmic Boy by kev_incal
I don't believe it. An awesome manip from our Mr. Leung. Next thing you know, the sky will turn out to be blue. This is shaping up to be another great series. I like the backgrounds you've picked for it. Great colours in the costume, particularly the blacks. And a very cool power effect. Not really your best work, but very, very cool nonetheless. And yeah, I'm looking forward to the Waid/Kitson LSH. Anyway, I don't really have any problems with this one. Keep the goodness coming!

Blue And Gold by bearbot
Nice piece. Nice work on both sets of goggles, they look really good. Good costuming, though Booster Gold's wristbands and collar look a bit blurry in comparison to the rest of him. And Blue Beetle's belt buckle, conversely looks too sharp. My only other nitpick is that the background is rather generic.

D'oh! I put the wrong date. Can one of you fine moderator chappies fix that? Thanks.

Okay, selective UIR here:

Arch Enemies: Part Twelve by Junkyard- Thanks for the comments, B. I've had fun with this series.

Dear lord. Five Batman pics in one update. Three that use the same base picture. They're all pretty good, mind you, but that's gotta be a record.

Iron-Man by ali786- This has got to be your best work to date. Great job.

Losh: Cosmic Boy by kev_incal- Wow. Rolling with the times, and doing it right. Very nice.

Blue And Gold by bearbot- Charicters I've wanted to see more of. Good job.

Arch Enemies: Part Twelve by Junkyard – LOL. I… think so. Nothing more to be said. Great tongue in cheek ending to a really fun story.

Shadowcat by Majik1387 – No art notes so the one thing I’ll comment on is the extreme blockiness of the hair.

Jetta by MaidenRaine1300 -- Another good Paint piece. I really can’t add much beyond what has already been said previously.

Batman by spi – Nicely drawn. I think the back foot is a bit too small even accounting for perspective and I’m not sure what it is about the shading on the cape but it’s a bit weird to my eye. It has a great shape and flow but the highlight just seems a bit oddly placed. But is way better than I could ever do so I’m going to stop now.

Supergirl 2004 by NightScroller – Art notes please. But even without notes its pretty obvious that you added the skirt entirely because it is severely blurry and rather painty looking.

So It Begins... by Sonic1002 – Really cool choice of a background. And overall a nicely done piece. And even though they are too small to make out clearly I like that you included Ra’s and Scarecrow. On the Bat Signal I’m familiar with the image you used and I know that it doesn’t conform to the clouds even on their version but it would have been cool to see you try it.

Term 2 In Gotham by eceDrihten – LOL. Since you asked me not to I won’t go there but nicely done. I have to agree with B about the haze though. I’m not sure what the effect was that you were going for with that but it just makes the image look slightly blurred in those areas.

Captain Britain by Ecthelion – Beyond the usual Poser wonkiness and the details B mentioned I really have no major complaints for this one. One minor suggestion would be to have used a different background in this case because all the red white and blue get a bit overwhelming and the serious pixilation on it takes away from the image as a whole.

50s Batman Begins by kman --Welcome to the DCG. This is a nice clean recolor on the pic and the smile is pretty seamlessly added if a bit high up on his face. It would be nice to have had art notes so we could know if you added it or manipulated Bale’s face to create it.

Batman Begins Desktop by oorat --Welcome to the DCG. – Nice compositing but the lighting on all the various head shots is all over the place. Almost every head has a different intensity and position of the light source.

Iron-man by ali786 – The face on this is really well done. I really like the mood/lighting on this but with that said I don’t really see the costume as being metallic. It looks more like a spandex or neoprene. If that is part of your “more aerodynamic and organic” then just ignore me.

Bats by pwhitrow --Welcome to the DCG. Really well done and a great first image. I really can’t add more than B did in his review so I won’t try.

Superman: The Movie by effektdmentality – Pretty well done. But the hands (as B mentioned) and the forearms seem a bit to flat and undefined in comparison to the high contrast/ high shine of the rest of the image. And just as a personal choice I would have completely obscured the bottom of the cape and the feet underneath the logo.

Electra by the uatus – Welcome to the DCG. Nice first submission but it does suffer from some serious pixilation and overly blurry parts. But overall a nice piece and a really cool lightning scheme.

Losh: Cosmic Boy by kev_incal – Very cool and I really like the new costume design. Yours or theirs? Either way another cool manip

Blue And Gold by bearbot – Cool manip with seldom seen characters. Nothing to add to B’s comments so I’ll just stop there.

the haze is actually a white triangle on a seperate layer that i gaussian blurred and erased in the appropriate parts. I was trying to go for a sort of hazy noir look, as though Rove*cough* I mean The Ventriloquist was in some sketchy back room someplace.

glad to see that none of you misconstrued the point of the piece and thought there was some kind of political commentary http://www.comics2film.com/UBB/wink.gif
